I would never back against my team but just knew we wouldn't beat Cardiff yesterday. Quite honestly we were a disgrace with at least half of the team already on the beach and no commitment at all to this match. This year it appears the team now only want to perform at the London Stadium following 4 losses and 1 draw away from home and another loss at Wimbledon in the Cup.

Two diabolical defensive displays by both sides today. As a West Ham fan all I can say is come back Reid and Collins all is forgiven and get rid of Arnautovich and keep Hernandez.

Awful news in the Guardian this afternoon. If we sell him it will show just how much ambition the club really has.
Declan Rice available at a price says West Ham’s Manuel Pellegrini ‘If it is a good deal for the club and the player then we can do it’ • England midfielder under contract at West Ham until 2024. Manuel Pellegrini has warned the Premier League’s big clubs they will need to pay a huge fee if they want to prise Declan Rice away from West Ham. The midfielder is already being linked with Manchester United following his successful first England appearances against the Czech Republic and Montenegro. Other major clubs at home and abroad are also reported to be monitoring the 20-year-old on the back of a hugely impressive breakthrough season for West Ham. Rice is under contract at the London Stadium until 2024 but the club’s hierarchy will be bracing themselves for some firm interest this summer. However, Pellegrini said: “In that case, as always, it is just a matter of price. “There are big teams who decide to pay an important amount of money. Sure, if it is a good deal for the club and the player and improves his career, then we can do it. But I know nothing about that yet.” Rice attracted many plaudits for his performance in front of the back four on his full England debut in the 5-1 Euro 2020 qualifier win in Montenegro. His composure on the international stage came as no shock to his club manager. “Was I surprised? No,” added Pellegrini. “I know Declan Rice, I have said before that he is a young player, just 20 years old, but his mind is that of an adult player. “He never feels pressure playing here or with the national squad. I was absolutely sure his level of performance would be exactly the same. In terms of his development he must continue doing exactly what he is doing now, to work in the same way, to have the same mentality. “He knows he must improve, that is why he is always listening and learning so, as a player, the way he plays more games and better games he will continue improving.” The midfielder Samir Nasri is a doubt for Saturday’s visit of Everton with a calf problem. |

David gold compared Rice to Bobby Moore.
Fattening the calf to make it more attractive to buyers that's how it sounded to me. Gold likes to play the harmless pensioner card but I think he's disingenuous. Not everyone is fooled one of the talksport presenters pulled him up on this statement. |

Big clear out needed in summer. Is Pellegrini the man to do it? Having doubts tbh.

I have always harboured doubts about Pellegrini. He has spent 100 million to no avail at all yet Moyes who dragged us out of the relegation places to finish mid table was not to be trusted despite sorting out the defence as well as Arnautovic. Our current defence has been virtually non existent recently and when you look at our inconsistent set of results then clearly something is badly wrong. Managing clubs like West Ham is a world apart from Man City where he could just go out and spend hundreds of millions to solve a problem.
|
|
By:
He also did good work at Villareal and Malaga but I get your point. But I'm not sure if he still has the appetite for a big rebuilding job.

Too old to lead a revolution, ffaith.

West Ham United - Doncha just love 'em

Not so much age sparrow more like temperament and judgement.
We need someone ruthless. The decision to give Arnautovic a contract extension and payrise made me start to question his hunger and judgement. |
|
By:
That contract was a very strange decision ffaith but surely Gold and Sullivan had some involvement and possibly to ensure a higher fee if sold. For me I never wanted to see Moyes leave but the board take too much notice of the fans these days.

Team on the beach
Wasn’t to bad yesterday Poor challenge from Fredrick sums up his First last season at westham Championship class imo See westham lads spot hot water Getting ready for spurs away game Westham cup final Spurs got sound system in that space ship Need to be turned to zero when we arrive All the songs be ringing out ( call it anti semitic ) That is nailed on !!! Can’t understand why people hate yiddish When driving though north east London Pmsl Motors they get in omg Not keeping bmw in business that’s for sure |
|

Those so called West Ham fans are a bloody disgrace to our club and could do with a little education about the history of the East End. As for yesterday it was at least heartening for the Man Utd manager to admit they were lucky but I reckon that ground must be worth at least 10 points for them each season.

Would be nice if they could lift the trophy , I guess we'll just have to live with the egos it would bring

Running into a bit of form just in time for our visit to the darkness. Is Julian Dicks still on the staff?(or someone local). To drum into the boys that losing ain't an option.
Masuaku 2 decent games in a row. One of my favourite players l knew he had it in him. Isn't it about time we called Arnautovic's bluff? We got enough talent to cope without him and he just doesn't seem the same player anymore. |
|
By:
A disappointing season coming to an end when you consider that last season we finished 13th under Moyes who took over when the team was in the relegation places. Since Pellegrini has taken over £100 million has been spent and the defence at least now looks far less competent which makes me question whether the manager is the right man for the job.
As for yesterday Obiang again looks like a player who should be starting matches and Antonio performing really well but these are 2 players who have given the club good service and without them yesterday we would not have got a point from this game. Finally, I can't remember a time when our team have been on the wrong end of so many bad decisions and so roll on VAR. |
|
By:
Talking of bad decisions I've got a horrible feeling regarding the officials next week. Did Moyes get so many awful calls go against him? Pellegrini must have been robbed of about 7 points.

Finally, I can't remember a time when our team have been on the wrong end of so many bad decisions and so roll on VAR. Last season at The Boleyn under Bilic , cost us a possible Champions League place ![]() |
|
By:
Your memory of bad decisions might be better than mine, reynard.
![]() But bad defending has been a feature all of this season and we will not improve until that is dealt with. Pellegrini for me is not used to handling teams such as ours and it shows but our fans seem to think he will bring us success at some point. |

Arnautovic starts. He owes us a performance.
Masuaku keeps his place at LB. His last minute laziness cost us 3 points against Leicester. Let's keep the concentration up for 90 minutes this time COYI |

I can't say I'm happy that Arnautovic is playing but maybe he might try, who knows.

At it from the start

3 London teams in continental finals FFS. Let's hope we show some ambition this summer otherwise we will fall even further behind.
We finished 14 points off top 6. Liverpool made up 18 points on Man City from last season and Ajax (with a wage bill lower than ours) were a second away from an UCL final. We can dream/hope |

I see that Reynard has more posts on "The Spurs Files" than on here.
You must implore him to share more of his wisdom re West Ham, he considers himself an expert on Spurs. ![]() |

Seriously to the point of delusional ............. "Trophies build egos" ..... "Semi finals are better than winning trophies" etc. etc.

By:
37 posts by Reynard on the Spurs Files in the last month not all of them derogatory, some were,
some were conciliatory, some complimentary. I'd say that was obsessional and jealous wouldn't you? |
|
By:
The closest I can come to 'jealous' is where your new stadium is concerned and the word I would use is 'envious' ...... Big difference !
I'm humbled by your devotion to my posts extending to actually counting them , but I feel I should point out that I post on various threads . My 'obsession' with the Spuds Files , if obsession is the correct terminology , is that I find many of the contributors definition of 'success' doesn't include the winning of silverware but preference for securing a top-4 finish . I was brought up in an era where success equated to the number of items in your trophy cabinet that require polishing regularly rather than year-on-year financial statements showing a healthy annual profit . For that I am genuinely sorry , I'm old school ! The result of these beliefs serve to create delusions of grandeur and present infinite opportunity for ridicule , which on occasion I serve up in the form of a reality check . This clearly upsets one half of the North London massive , but for that I offer no apology . ![]() |
