As a multi-million refurbishment of Ibrox nears completion
was good to see some money spent on restoring the original model of the main stand which is again on display in the stadium. Archibald Leitch was the architect and he produced the model before construction began. He was responsible for quite a few stadium designs, either in part or the whole structure, Goodison being just one other example. [ This image is no longer available. ] |

Rabbi Matondo, looks a decent player. Should do well with Rangers. |

On this day in 1998
Rangers signed GVB from Feyenoord for £5m. Little did we know ... |

What a gift.

great player, in fact rangers had a lot of top players then, but Barry was the main man in midfield and that is saying something the quality that was there and was great to see from a scottish perspective and he went and dominated England at wembley too, Scotland were unlucky not to turn that around that night.

As a Southampton fan I am hoping Joe Aribo is as good as the hype, if so we could have a VVD on our hands. !!
![]() ![]() |
|
By:
i doubt he will get a regular game with the saints GlasgowCalling, he's certainly no VVD, Matt le tissier or wee eyal, I think you were robbed big time in the purchase, but good luck to the lad.
I wouldn't have paid 3 million for him to the owners of his contract, whoever they are. ![]() |

@GlasgowCalling
I think you paid £7m up front with add-ons that could take it to £10m. A good deal for Rangers for a player in the last year of his contract and who only cost us £300k. Southampton have got a really skilled player with the potential to be even better. Heres a clip of his goal against Braga. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6GLchL1eRc |

Hes the type of player I wouldnt have minded signing for us (Forest)

Malik Tillman, a 20 year old attacking midfielder, has signed on a season
long loan with an option to buy from Bayern Munich. He's made two appearances for the United States. Rumours that Ajax, who recently sold defender Lisandro Martinez to Man Utd for £45m, have offered Rangers £20m for the highly rated Calvin Bassey who has a host of clubs interested in him. Hopefully if this deal goes through GVB will use the cash to offer Kent and Morelos improved and extended contracts. Got cover for Bassey but Kent and morelos would be a major loss to the squad. |

Glasgowcalling the lad Armstrong who plays for Scotland, who I don't think is very good, is a far superior player to Aribo, if they played directly against each other, Armstrong would outclass him, and as I said, he's only half decent, as a Saints fan you will know that yourself of course.
Armstrong next move is definitely not to English champions league contenders with all due respect to the lad. |

Might as well get a win under your belt before meeting us ![]() |

I've got my abacus ready.
Should be a decent crowd and all depends on how strong a team you play. |

It'll be mixed with many changes no doubt, but I assume Conte will be working towards his Premier League starting XI now. Should be a watchable game for both sets of supporters.

Hard to make anything of friendlies, but a win is still a win. Spurs have beaten a South Korean XI and drawn with Sevilla so we're currently unbeaten with 3, probably 4 (possibly more) of our new signings yet to feature. I expect to seem them next Saturday, as they are all going to need minutes. Have you got access to the game aka?

From the BBC
Rangers have accepted an offer from Ajax for Calvin Bassey, with a deal worth in excess of £20m expected to be completed in the coming days. It is also believed the Ibrox club have agreed a sell-on fee of 10% should the defender leave for Amsterdam. The 22-year-old Nigeria international joined Rangers from Leicester City in 2020 and emerged as a key player last season. Bassey was absent as Rangers beat hosts Blackpool in Saturday's friendly match. Rangers will rival Burnley for the signing of Liverpool defender and former Celtic target Ben Davies as a replacement for Ajax-bound Calvin Bassey. |

Was very impressed with Bassey last season, wondered whether an English club would have come in for him...

Drawn against Royale Union Saint Gilloise of Belgium in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.
First leg away on the 2nd or 3rd of Agust with the retun at Ibrox on the 9th of August. Union SG topped their domestic standings after the first round of 34 matches last season but finished second behind Club Bruges following the six-match play-off series. It was the club's first season back in the top flight since the 1973, while the last of their 11 league titles came in 1935. A difficult draw to get to the play-off round but a tie we should win. |

Derby interested in Roofe
Always liked him when watching him play for Leeds against us I assume you wont be letting him leave on loan? He struggles to stay fit or did according to my Leeds supporting mate, they loved him though |
|
By:
Not looking good for Rangers this coming season.

Good player Sonta although he is injury prone.
I don't think GVB rates him though. Hopefully Morelos will be back soon and we use some of the cash to offer him an improved and extended contract. Same with Kent. Hagi looks to be out for the rest of this year. |
