half an hour gone in the EUFA Youth League and its Napoli 0 v 2 Rangers.
Hope GVB and the players are taking note. Napoli got their 11th win on the trot at the weekend something they haven't done since the 1980s they've also got an easy home tie this weekend so expecting a strong team going all out for the win. Could be a long night. |

2-2 at the break thanks to 2 Napoli goals in added time the 2nd from the penalty spot.
Saw this on twitter and it gave me a laugh. Some people easily pleased. "Bad as we have been in the CL group at least we lasted longer in Europe than Celtic." ![]() |

Thanks to a Zak Lovelace penalty in the 52nd minute Rangers win 3-2.
What odds that tonight? We live in hope. |

Tonights Team:
RANGERS: McGregor, Tavernier, King, Davies, Ridvan, Sands, Lundstram, Tillman, Wright, Morelos, Kent SUBS: McLaughlin, McCrorie, Barisic, Devine, Allan, Davis, Arfield, Lowry, Colak, Matondo, Fashion Jr Strange selection. 5 at the back and, as rumoured, Morelos up front. Barasic dropping to the bench and Wright favoured instead of Arfield. Could be the last throw of the dice for Gio. |

Was at the napoli game at Ibrox, rangers played national anthem b4 game in honour and to mark HMQE11 passing , ref had a very bad body language on and was clear b4 ht we were getting hee hawe from him, up to the soft red card I thought either Rangers were playing well, or Napoli were not that great, they did not really impress me although in hindsight it was prob a bit of both.
Red card was game over although the last tremendous double save from shagger and we were still in it. They knocked it about slow slow at back then ping zip stuff, accurate passes, heads up and have quality, but if they are so good then rangers did not do too bad with ten men and lost two goals in last five, maybe they had a few gears left but not so sure how they would be have handled going a goal down. I can still remember the great lipi's juventus side tearing into us at ibrox in the 90,s, toraceli, ravineli, del piero megging Alex Cleland, it was a privilege to witness a great side, they beat everyone by at least three goals, and we got our three twice, but not sure I seen that level, one thing back then we fought like fck, just lacked the required skills. But they were special. Napoli beat Liverpool, but they were shakey at the time and the Heysel factor was in play imo, not sure about them, could be a decent side but seen a lot better at ibrox for sure and if rangers are as bad as everyone says then maybe they are no great shakes. In rangers first game in hamster dam the ref let a lot go and we struggled to match them, a big bruising side are ajax, we got zero protection, Kent was halfed and play waved on, was not of the usual cl standard. Napoli game at ibrox was prob one of Rangers better performances this season, there was times in first half rangers had decent runs and some penetration, something we are struggling to do all season at home in spfl. A lot of injuries but at end of day I don't think we need to worry about the coey or the press, no harm in going down fighting, but we could get well beat trying to play a nothing game, have a go I say, although not sure too many folks understand what budget rangers have, ffs, SG sloped out the door cause the club had no money due to covid, he seen an op and went for it, but I only can say thanks to him for restoring our rep, doing great in europa, two seasons on bounce and getting on top of the bheasts, for that I thank him but can't see a way back for him, reckon some fans are doing a, want brendon back, and four cans n awe routine but no chance. As long as we see effort and commitment, right to the death, most sane fans will be happy but too many are pissed on the euro runs of Gérard and the Terry Munroe death. (rip) Anyway I hope we dig in, and have a go b4 game is over. Where is price of Rangers -3? |

bring back Gerrard, at least he understood Europe. I expect he will be in before the turn of the year

I can still remember the great lipi's juventus side tearing into us at ibrox in the 90,s,
What a manager he was, top notch and a striking resemblance to the late Paul Newman. Those were the days when we got a top Italian game every Sunday on channel 4. Too many to mention but Maldini, Barasi, Van Basten, Hullit el tal. AC had some team back then. |

at least he understood Europe
Beginning to think you're more of a rounders man than a football man, assuming you are a man. ![]() GVB took Rangers to the final of the EL and got us into the CL proper for the first time in 11 years. |
|
By:
Morelos passed up 2 great chances to score and had a couple of half chances on top of that.
Better performance in the second half all round although Tav struggling to complete a pass. Anyways despite another defeat we are still in with a chance of staying in Europe. All we need do is beat Ajax 5-0 at Ibrox and we qualify for the KO round of the EL. Simples. FI that ref in the home game with Napoli was the same ref who disallowed a perfectly good 3rd goal at Ibrox against Dortmund despite going to VAR. Never looked at all the angles. |

The decline in Rangers since Gerrards departure was further evident in Europe this week, with the league already gone, Rangers now hold the Scottish record for most goals conceded in the Group stages of the ECL since the competition began, this will be extended further if(when) Rangers concede more as expected in the last remaining group fixture against Ajax. Furthermore, should they (as expected) fail to get a point from the game, they will become the 21st team to get zero points in the group stages. A decline so huge you would require to be wearing rose tinted glasses, not to see it. The season is over before christmas...fact

Kemar Roofe has suffered another calf injury setback following his brief return to action.
Same area as before but a different injury. He'll be out for another 2 or 3 weeks. |

''Van Bronckhorst's side fell to a fifth successive Champions League loss away to Napoli on Wednesday and were booed off the pitch following last weekend's home draw with Livingston'' some journalism away from your view akabula, while it doesn't end with fact, it has the same reverberating message.

Taken 20s Aberdeen HT Rangers FT for an interest.
Hopefully we trap quickly and my bet is busted early doors. ![]() Must win for the Gers if only to help get their confidence back. Surprised that Arfield isn't getting a start with Sands being preferred. Good to see Sakala starting, would like to see him getting a run in the team. |

Great result for GVB, I think he's getting a raw deal from media, maybe I'm biased as he was a brilliant player to watch in Scotland and seems a good lad, one of best midfielders I've seen in Scotland, he just needs to keep hanging on to Celtic and then you always have a chance.

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst has revealed he is expecting to be without Ridvan Yilmaz for a couple of weeks as he admitted he's unsure over Ben Davies' fitness.
The back 4 for Wednesday could be Tavernier, King, Sands and Barisic. Given the central pairing Lundstram will probably be given defensive duty as well. |
|
By:
@Sonta Michael Beale was in the main stand at Ibrox on Saturday.
Was sat with Connor Goldson. |
|
By:
Never realised that Lundstram is suspended for the Ajax game.
He never trained today either and neither did Ben Davies. Getting thin on the ground now for replacements Will be only B team players left to choose from in defence. |

Going okay for the youths at Firhill this afternoon against Ajax

Lean pickings player wise tonight with Lundstram suspended and 10 other players injured.
Central pairing 18yo Leon King and loanee James Sands who was playing midfield. Only natural defender on the bench is 19 yo Adam Devine who plays full-back. 3 other youngsters on the bench, all midfielders, are 19 yo Alex Lowry, 18 yo Connor Allan and 19 yo Robbie Fraser. Good to see Glen Kamara returning from injury. GL Rangers. |

well done, Rangers, finally achieved something in this campaign,
The ignominy of the worst ever campaign in the Champions' League group stages. I suspect akabula will still be sticking to his view that there is no '' Rapid Decline'' for Rangers in Europe despite overwhelming evidence. The worst ever.... |

Rangers 1-3 Ajax And with the toot of a whistle, the worst ever group stage campaign in Champions League history is brought to an end with a hushed chorus of boos from an emptying Ibrox Stadium. A sombre night to close the most sobering of European campaigns for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team. |
