Leno - excellent
Maitland - he’s going to get ripped apart vs better wingers...top class assist though Chambers - most happy with him although I don’t know if it’s because Mustafi is so awful...time will tell but pleased Sokratis - was Sokratis Monreal - thought he had a solid game Guendouzi - kept a very pleasing tempo...hard working...more please Xhaka - just not good enough. Too sloppy. Mickey- looks like someone whose about to retire Willock - very good try again...he’ll get even better Reece - looked nervous (unlike Willock)...he’s better than what we saw. Aboomerang- class Danny - put himself about...oozes class Pepe - did really see much of him Fartinelli - same as Pepe —- Looking forward...anyone is better than Mickey, want Reece to step up and not be Iwobi 2, more Willock please and surely a matter of time for Xhaka...surely? Can’t see him lasting with Torreira, Luiz and Danny gunning for a first team spot. |

Didn't see the game but happy to have recouped some of last years losses on Arsenal away. I am hoping the introduction of the new signings will make Arsenal stronger. Lucky to be playing The Toon today!
Arsenal should still be a good price away from home judging by accounts. After the loss to Liverpool away the price will get even better and by then I hope a side has started to develop! There could be money to be made by this team. I hope Luis provides something special for the younger players. |

Ozil and Kolasinac issue is a now a full blown gang war between the Turks who are protective of the players and the Eastern Europeans who carried out the attack and upset they are getting laughed at by everyone.
Guess they won’t be playing for a while... Any chance we can suspend their wages? Not exactly our fault they can’t play. |
|
By:
Not exactly their fault either, by the sound of things.
|
|
By:
The Turks are the ones who were arrested and the Eastern Euros are the ones protecting, supposedly without the players' knowledge
I don't see how an Eastern Euro gang would step in off their own bat and get involved. Both players have beefed up security in recent weeks and hired some goons to protect their houses. The Turks have reacted to being threatened by the Eastern Euro gang and issued more threats, according to the papers. |
|
By:
What a fecking waste of wages, get rid off .. pay them off
|
|
By:
that is ridiculous dambuster!
Oh sorry are you talking about their footballing ability? oh alright then! Ashley I would love to see the best of Ozil with that front 3 and a more solid defence and midfield. In Wenger we trust? ![]() |
|
By:
Ozil could play with the best players in the world around him, but once he was given that contract by wenger and Gazidis,
he's playing career ended there. |

By:
500k a week down the shi++er
Anyways not like we need them right now. |

Turkish "gang" vs Eastern Euro "gang" in London.
![]() Arrest them all and deport them all. |

We can't do that lybertyne, what about there human rights and all that b0110x |

Turkish "gang" vs Eastern Euro "gang" in London.
As opposed to the gang that rules us and are far more ruthless? They have a proper Army, Police Force, The Law, landowners That is a proper psychopathic gang! |

Really liked that win.
Our passing had a fluency and pop that I have seen in a while. Ceballos is probably our best central midfielder since Fabregas. Defence instantly clicked with Luiz and a sounder structure in front of it. We need to be far better when out of possession but this will come...can’t solve everything straight away. More importantly we played as a team and not a bunch of disconnected muppets hoping Alexis or Ozil will save us. |
|
By:
Also no Xhaka, Mustafi or Ozil helped.
|
|
By:
He surely won't drop any of them for Xhaka
|
|
By:
I didn't see it, but my mate reckoned it was the best performance in ages. I said I could hardly imagine Citeh and Leeeverpool quaking in their boots over a 2:1 home win against Burnley but he said it was better than that.

Ludicrous puff piece on the BBC website by Ornstein. More than 75% direct quotes from Josh Kroenke. No interrogation or challenges from the BBC ‘journalist’. This explains why Ornstein is so reliable as a source at Arsenal. Completely in the club’s pocket.
|
|
By:
The signs are positive but I doubt anybody is under an illusion that we have a defence! The Maginot Line would provide a batter defence!
|
|
By:
But we have a kwality central midfielder for a season and everything must be done to show him what a future he has in the Premier League. Far better than sitting on a bench in Madrid and be subject to political shenanigans.
Similarly Willock could emerge and Pepe has yet to show us what he can truly do but he looks like he has something. We have two very good goal scoring forwards and maybe a left back. I would just like someone to come in and drill drill drill the defence. Defence is the best form of attack! |
|
By:
Emery clearly sees something in Xhaka that no one else does ! wtf
|
|
By:
To be fair to an otherwise very, very average player, he has the ability to hit long passes which would surely be the reason he is in there.

Guendouzi willock xhaka against Liverpool away.
That just jumps out at me and says Weak. Fans last week got carried away by Ceballos performance. I didn't watch but, playing against a strong Liverpool away with Guendouzi, a player that looks full of enthusiasm, heart but to me he's just a good young prospect, not impressive in my honest opinion. Xhaka, most will agree is limited, no top team will want him on their team. Willock, has impressed in preseason but preseason matches are matches to try new things, just ok v Burnley imo, but against Klopps team at anfield with xhaka and Guendouzi!!??? Watched some of highlights of Liverpool's goals last week, they look so well organised, they look impressively fit and sharp, and dangerous/clinical in the final 3rd. And I see Pepe got his first start at A field?? Thrown in the deep end with not much behind him in midfield???? Guendouzi xhaka willock????????????? Having not watched the game, I don't know exactly how they managed 3/1 win., But to pick this team you are going to be criticised unless your Alex Ferguson or AW maybe. I could write more.. |

Another good interview with Claude on Arsenal fan TV., Says it as he sees it
|
|
By:
Willock was one of our better players on the day. Ceballos was shunted over to our left (poor game there). Guendouzi to the right-there were worse performers for sure.
Poorly set up side, players out of position doing jobs that they didn't understand and on the day didn't do well. Emery MUST take the majority of the blame because imo he hamstrung the side with the set up. Totally baffling is his never ending picking of Xhaka; if Emery wants to pass out from the back wtf put Xhaka in such a pivotal position since his short passing game is sh!te ? It beggars belief. |
|
By:
I believe Xhaka is blackmailing Dick, thats the only reason i can see why he's picked
|
|
By:
Joking aside- why is he doing this ?
Xhaka is a hard tackling fighter and has good long passing ability (he has a rocket of a shot but that is so rare it does not come into the equation surely). For Emery to choose him those few attributes have to outweigh that he - far too often gives the ball away in front our penalty area is horribly slow has a very poor short passing game slows our game down allows opposition midfield runners freedom to go by him has the turning circle of a train So where is the logic of Xhaka being in the side ? Wtf is Emery doing ? Willock ; more mobile, better passer, much faster, gets up and down the pitch, works at least as hard and is by far a better goal threat and chance creator. Guendouzi; more mobile, better passer, quicker of thought and faster runner with or without the ball Torreira; faster, far better short(and sharp) passing game, better tackler, better at covering the back-line, can get forward, score and create if needs be Ceballos; works hard, creates, far superior on the ball, more athletic and faster Ozil; well we all know the score but I would take him in the side ahead of Xhaka though the team would have to be set up around him for that to happen Niles; a midfielder of course, left to hang out to dry by Emery's tactics yesterday is- also faster, better short passer (but not by much thus far), far more mobile and can get up and down the pitch Any combination of 3 from these would be better than seeing Xhaka in the side. |

By:
it was suicidal tactics yesterday, a dimaond formation gave the two best full backs in the country license to roam in in the areas that love to run into and cross or shoot, Robertson in particular put in some really dangerous balls that on another day would have seen a 4-1 or 5-1 scoreline. Ceballos played well through the middle last week, deployed further out wide this week taking away from his strengths.
The game was crying out for Torriera to start, with Kolasinac on the left wing to stop TAA's attacks, David Luiz in a back 3 as he can't play as well in a centre back pairing, he's like a fish out of water and doesn't want to be chasing/hustling defeners, he's a footballers footballer and should be allowed freedom to play in front of them, that's why Lamapard moved him on as he wants to play a back 4 and doesn't think Luiz fitted, under Conte in back 3 he did well. Liverpool play Mane/Firmino/Salah every week, no reason why Auba/Laca/Pepe should not have all started together to take it to them in turn. Xhaka I can't see what he offers, in any team in any formation he looks like a square peg in a round hole. the most disappointing thing is this kind of game was meant to show us exactly where we are at, against top opposition, but because the formation, the selection and tactics were all wrong we've all left none the wiser. Beating Tottenham at home next week will help a lot to make up for him, he has to start Torreira in a game like that, and hopefully Pepe/Auba/Laca together, Ceballos would suit this game perfectly, after that it's a pretty good run of fixtures for a long while so should be in the top 4 by the time City comes around. Emery has to learn from this defeat. |
|
By:
Xhaka selections strongly suggest he isn't learning at all.

I think he was probably making sure he has Torreira and Lacazette for Spurs (benefit of the doubt)
9 from 12 would be excellent. Will be honest and say that’s 8 more than I originally thought 2 months back. Thought Willock was top class and took another step forward. He cannot be dropped! Pepe was frightening at times and bodes well for when he’s fully up to speed. Should’ve been going in at half time 2 or 3 nil up imo Shame about the misses, the corner and Luiz’s brain f art. Shows that we’ve improved when we’re angry / upset we didn’t get something against them rather than depressed about another humiliation. Almost tempting to go 4-4-2 next week with Willock and Torreira in the middle, Pepe and Nelson out wide and Aboomerang and Lacazette on top. Old Skool style. He’s got options...players are improving...everyone fit...no excuses.... |
|
By:
Bizarre tactics so hard to glean too much from the game really. I think I was the only one disappointed with Pepe's performance, I didn't think he was as fast as I was expecting and his touch was very poor and every striker should score on a one on one. I hope it's just a case of taking time to adapt to the faster pace of the Premier League, after all it took a certain Thierry Henry a while to show us his brilliance.

Worrying thing for me was that the Liverpool players were far quicker than us in getting the ball. As soon as they lost it Liverpool got the ball back in seconds.
Playing the ball out from the back as we did has to be the worse tactic ive ever seen in football. We will lose quite a few 'silly'goals playing this way. Think Liverpool took their foot off the peddle at 3-0. Could have been much worse if they had put their foot on our throat. Still a mile off the top sides but we knew that already. |

Liverpool and Man City are in a totally different league than any other PL club. I agree that some of the tactics against Liverpool were naive. We improved (pointswise) on our previous season and I feel Emery is still finding his feet. Good work in transfer market and a good chance to finish top 4. For me its all about progress and it will take some time to be competing at the highest level again. I think most are happy with progress and CL football to start with and then push on again? Fingers crossed for 3pts today

By:
Only one comment from me on that game...No more Xhaka please.
|
|
By:
Why is he ever in - surely another rancid performance won't dissuade Emery from picking him
|
|
By:
Towards the end of AWs tenure, xhaka was being dropped more often and elneny was getting more game time. No?
So, Emery arrives, after years of inept performances he backs xhaka , brings in two middle of the road midfielders.. In my opinion, elneny is better than all and is out on loan, unwanted. I really do think he's got himself into a right mess with his midfield. Backing xhaka..and trying to develop Guendouzi????and rotating torreira???? And today playing all three?? Are any of them top quality??? I stopped watching early start of last season. And he names xhaka captain???? |
|
By:
Xhaka is stupid, he makes the same mistakes again and again. I couldn't work out why Emery took Toreira off and kept Xhaka on. I thought Guendouzi was very good yesterday and maybe be good enough to persevere with.
|
|
By:
Xhaka is Arsenals equivalent of the tories Phillip Hammond and Labours Diane Abbot, both big embarrasments
|
|
By:
For as long as Xhaka is anywhere near the XI and we keep giving away cheap goals with no sign of him doing anything about it, you know that Emery will not get it right but 4th place is the plan as always and he might just do enough for that. I recall that we gave away a similar panalty and some poor keeping for the other goal in the 4-2 win last year
Given away a penalty for the 3rd league game in a row v Spurs, all scored by you know who, that is criminal. The guy is a serial diver who has been at it for Spurs and England for years. Waits for contact then goes down like a sack of spuds. He made a mess of his little trick yesterday and let the veil slip. |
