Arsenal value ESR @ £25m
RB keen and want him in the Upamecano deal either as a loan or keeps. Seems they’re will to work something out... - Leeds have come in balls deep for Eddie...could be a fierce bidding war for a player on loan with no option to purchase. Could be nice little earner for us and Eddie gets serious game time. - L’Equipe says Coutinho is a done deal :o - |
By:
Iwobi more or less out the door.
£30m Everton bid rejected but they will be making a 2nd one soon. Expecting this to go through so we can close down the Tierney and Upamecano deals. |

Arsenal rejected the first offer. I would have given him a backie on my pushbike all the way to Scouse for that sort of money WTFF Arsenal. Bite their hands off! I don't wish to put a player down. He does his best but I never really saw him as adding to the team. £30 Million. You can win less on the lottery! What a bonus!
Holy smoke if the deal for Upamecano comes off! I daresay there will be some sort of underwriting over his knee injury. Him and Saliba is mouthwatering given the past 13 years! Tierny and Bellerin doesn't look too sad. A lot to learn maybe defensively but good footballers. Get a decent defence coach in! Just need to offload Xhaka and Elnenny now. Get Ozil wages off the books. Young Willock to come and then every year just get a kwality player in to add something. Things starting to look brighter. Hope is a wonderful thing. |

Definitely need Upamecano now because I don’t fancy Mustafi taking on Welbeck and Deeney for Watford away
By:
Raul with the 4D chess...now it’s David Luiz
![]() That guy and Mustafi loooooooool |
By:
Looks as if Juve and Watford got the best deals in the transfer window to me. Tragic.
By:
If you can't get excited about the Luiz deal then you've clearly fallen out of love with the game.
By:
Hopefully we get to see what we all want...
Luiz & Guendouzi in midfield together ![]() |
By:
David Luiz may not be a first choice target but he will do for me.
His weakness is to wander too far forward, but if we play him in front of Sokratis and one other, then that won't be so much of an issue. He is a decent passer of the ball, so can launch attacks and protect the defence. |
By:
Isn't Luiz great with free kicks too?
By:
If they use Luis as an excuse not to buy Upamecano then we will have shot ourselves in the foot!
The Chelsea 4/5th choice centre back would be Arsenal's numero uno and that would still be an improvement! As I said before Upamecano and Saliba is mouthwatering even though untried they offer hope against the disappointment of the last 13 years. We have had a manager without a degree in the art of the bleedin' obvious for too long. I was never a Wenger Out but if Emery thinks Iwobi is the future then we are in trouble! Please Lord let Everton follow their stupidity and increase their offer and let Iwobi demand a move! I would rather have Welbeck! |
By:
Luis might be a good move for Arsenal as long as the Upamecano deal is not shelved ( loan him back for a year if you have to! I am that desperate to get him! ).
Luis is a leader. I wouldn't be surprised if he was made Captain and I would not be against it. As a Brazillian he is tough as teak and needed in a spineless team. His distribution is as good as it gets and I can see Arsenal playing the fast break stuff like in days of yore particularly away from home with so much pace on tap. He could play in a three and support the defensive midfielder. Sure he is not the best defender in the World. That doesn't WEAKEN the Arsenal defence! If there is a Got in himmel then young Upamecano will be here soon and Arsenal will not be pushovers. That is as much as we can hope for. Zaha has not trained today. FFS sell Iwobi quick! |

Revised line up for Newcastle
Leno Chambers Sokratis Luiz Reece Guendouzi Xhaka Kolasinac Willock Lacazette Aboomerang Subs Martinez Monreal Maitland Torreira Saka Pepe Ozil |
By:
ELG, The sad look of that team is the very last name, who was given an unbelieveable contract by wenger , out of spite
By:
And he’s off to the MLS in January.
Iwobi sold btw Good opportunity for Saka, Willock, Reece and Fartinelli All ballers imo |
By:
Great news if Iwobi is sold for £30 Million. Like winning the lottery. Good luck to him. Did his best.
Wage bill is also drastically reduced with many exiting the club, some on good money.. Should be helpful when trying to attract kwality players in the future. Upamecano would have been the cherry on top. They have a good relationship with Leipzig so maybe that deal can still be done next year. |
By:
Decent window for Arsenal, Luiz might make the odd mistake but he's quality, the left back might be very good and Pepe is decent if a touch overpriced.
I've had a good lump on Arsenal top four with a view to trade that market. Good luck for the season, hopefully you'll put up a decent show |
By:
luiz for only £8 million on a 2 year deal, not a bad signing, always need cover in defence, or will he be expected to start every game this season.
By:
You've got Chambers back as well I believe. Perhaps he will start? Good player imo
By:
When everyone is back fit it should look like this imo
Leno Bellerin Sokratis Holding Tierney Luiz Torreira Pepe Ozil Auba Laca Emery might prefer Mickey to Ozil |
By:
Anyone getting on Eddie for top goalscorer?
14/1 on here I would’ve had no issue with him filling in for Aboomerang and Lacazette...solid pre season against Munich and Barca. Not one of these artsy fartsy strikers...just a straight up goal scorer. Massive class drop.... Leeds done good but bad luck they won’t have a chance of keeping him. |
By:
Luiz is a great signing for £8m imo, better than any of the centre halves we have, can play in midfield and has a great range of passing. The problem with the defence is more down to lack of organisation and trying to play it out when out of position and under pressure, leading to avoidable mistakes. That needs to be addressed or it won't matter so much who you put in there, none of them will look very solid.
Raul has done some great dealing this window and knows how to get things done. Really shows how much of a clueless mug the likes of Gazidis and Woodward are. Understands football. Getting rid of Iwobi for that amount is great business. Pity Xhaka couldn't have been offloaded but Emery seems to rate him. |
By:
Luiz is a strange signing imo
Great on his day, but he has the ability to be all over the shop. Germany 7 - 1 Brazil spring to mind. Luiz was out of position for at least 4 of those!! Given the arsenal defence is often all at sea, he will fit nicely in |
By:
Actually think Luiz was a panic but after koscielny did the time to jump a sinking ship routine
By:
What you say about Luis may be true but the sad fact is the 5th choice Chelski centre back will strengthen Arsenals defence!
He is a leader, so is Tierny, just what Arsenal need. They also need to be drilled to death. I still hold out hope for the Leipzig lad in the future |
By:
If he's 5th choice that's only under Lampard. Started 36 league games under Sarri and was a starter for Conte too. It's stranger that Lampard to let him go to a top 4 rival who need defenders.
By:
Lampard's still wet behind the ears.
By:
Luiz worked with Emery at PSG, must like him, also played with Lampard, maybe they didn't get on, Lampard/Terry and co were one's who probably controlled the dressing room at Chelsea but David Luiz is a big character and wouldn't have been dictated to by them I'm guessing. His fellow compatriot Edu may have pulled a few strings too in bringing him in and giving him a better contract as well
![]() |
By:
Kind of believable though that it is what they say about him not being first choice - Lampard has Rudiger fit again, Zouma has gone back there after a very good season at Everton.
More I think about it though it's a coup for you either way. |
By:
To be fair, this is one of the better windows for Arsenal in the last 15/20years. Some decent talent coming in.
But, this manager still has xhaka in mind for captain.. I couldn't be bothered watching last season. I won't really be bothered to watch a game with xhaka in the lineup. And won't again this season |
By:
Ozil and Kolasinac out....security issues. They’ve been targeted again.
- Main issue is left back / left wing back with Monreal but we’ll be strong in the centre with Willock...man absolutely dominated pre season. |
By:
They've been arrested for staging that hold-up
By:
At least they have not been arrested for impersonating footballers!
By:
I agree the fact that Emery seems to think Xhaka is worth a squad place let alone in the starting 11 is really scary.
I am hoping that with the emergence of Willock, the new signings and a full squad, it will finally dawn on Emery that we have MUCH better talent in the squad and players on the fringes of the squad (probably in the academy as well !). If not, I cannot see how he can have such poor judgement and survive as manager. |

ARSENAL TEAM NEWS Team to face Newcastle: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Chambers, Sokratis, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Willock, Mkhitaryan, Nelson, Aubamyenag. Ouch. This doesn't that look far away from the side that capitualted last season. Be very, very happy to sneak a win here with this dodgy looking side. |
By:
Nelson?! Wow! Quite a young side!
By:
Fitness issues I know but the bench looks stronger than the team !
By:
If we can get to 60 mins at levels and bring on some talent at that point I would take that right now. Obviously I hope I am completely wrong but this side needs NU to be very poor indeed today.

Mourinho is an excellent pundit. Outspoken and interesting. In fact the three of them on Sky are all good.

First player to give the ball away.....Xhaka
