massive respect to Saed there, knew he was a hard man from the way he plays, would like to have seen full footage in the hope Ozil was driving his car at the attackers to scare them away, doubt he was just driving away leaving Kola on his own. Could have been seriously hurt! not sure why footage cut off suddenly. Not really safe anywhere, that location is pretty exclusive.

I'd rather he sort out the defence before signing any more attackers but this Pepe deal seems strange when we only bid a much lower amount for Zaha. Pepe is a much riskier buy than Zaha coming from the French league. How is he worth more than Zaha?
The Saliba signing is not a signing because he's being loaned back. A limited budget and you spend a chunk of it on a defender who can't play for a year? They are going to have to sell one of our best players to fund all of this if Pepe or Zaha come. This figures just don't add up otherwise. I'd imagine a large bid is on the table for Auba perhaps and they want to get a big signing in before telling the fans. |

It seems they didn't have money when they bid for Zaha but now they have an extra £30m to bid for Pepe all of a sudden? Must have got an offer for one of our best players in the meantime

It depends how you look at it, many players have come from the French league and done very well in other top leagues, Mahrez, Kante, Lemar to Atletico, Bernardo Silva, Viera (via 2 games in Italy), Ginola, Cantona, Essien, Drogba, Hazard, Pires, Benzema etc, his valuation no doubt though increase via competition from Napoli? and he's 2 and a half years younger than Zaha.
It is strange however that near on 100 mill for Martinelli, Saliba and now Pepe when 3 new defenders are desperately needed, Tierney will probably happen though, but Mustafi, Monreal and Kos have to go. Theres also Ceballos which will cost 15 mil this season for the loan. According to Raul, Vinai and Edu who were talking to the supporters club, the 40 mil is a myth and they don't reveal what they do and don't have to spend otherwise that potentially increases player valuation if other clubs know what you have. I'm not sure if Zaha is the right player, seems more of an individual than a team player. Pepe looks good on youtube but then so many do. |

These deals are all instalment deals.
With Saliba we’re paying a tiny amount now because of the loan situation. Once the dust settles we would’ve only spent 45-50m this season. The Tiereny deal will go through now we know how much we can pay Celtic up front plus we got an extra 2.5m for Xavier Ameachi. Rough estimates: Saliba - 3m Dani - 4m Pepe - 25m Tiereny - 18m Something like that. Raul and Indian Finance guy deserve credit for this although I don’t like that we’re gambling on CL football to cover future bills. Quite amusing to hear people praising Josh because this has got nothing to do with him. Raul is a don and India Finance guy knows his numbers inside out. — Would’ve loved a Maguire, Tarkowski or Koulabaly but none of their clubs would accept instalments. Would need to sell and unfortunately the likely candidates are refusing to leave ie Mustafi, Xhaka, Ozil, Kolasinac, Mickey have all said they’re happy and staying. - RB is a massive massive issue for me...maybe we can get 1 more sale off then we could cover the fees for someone like Dani Alves (can’t think of anyone else)...I dunno... - |

I would want to lose Xhaka and Elneny ( and Mustafi of course ), both decent players but not offering enough for Arsenal and lacking in pace at the top level or rather the level we aspire Arsenal to be! |

Nearly all deals for a decent fee are instalment deals and every deal is recorded in the accounts as being an equal amount spent per year of the contract. Just seems strange all round that we've got into a bidding war and will smash our transfer record for an untried player and suddenly have an extra £30m to bid on him.

It has to be said- Aubameyang misses unbeliveable sitters on a very regular basis- two tap ins tonight, both just off centre of the goal, both inside the 6yrd box, one he inconprehensibly got about 10ft wide and the other he somehow managed to knock over the bar!!

Upamecano would certainly send out a message and hopefully deal with a 13 year old problem. Him and Saliba might just be the answer to that problem. Arsenal will never get the best defenders. They might as well roll the dice and take a bet on the futures market!
