Payet and Sterling in the same sentence, lol.

Hamsik took on 4 players in one dribble, how is he not on that list, wrong sponsor ?

By:
LOL ,STERLINGS assist against portugal that cross could have been put in by any of 10,000 sunday morning pub players
as for the shoite been spouted by lfc WTF, why is it any harder to play left wing than right wing if this shoite were true i preseume the same argument applys to left full backs and right full backs, its up to the manager if he wants to play right footed players on the left,he could play whoever he deems to be the best left footed ,left sided player in the country whether he,s a so called star or not, albrighton, maybe |
By:
Payet's 29 and Sterling's 21. At this moment in time, who would command the bigger transfer fee?
By:
well David Sullivan reckons Payet is worth 3 times what they paid for him, making his value £30m, Sterling would cost more than that
By:
I can't see how anyone could argue that sterling would not be better on the right, it's so fookin obvious it's painful. He actually got past his man easily a few times last night then either his last left footed touch was a bit heavy and he ran out of pitch or he crossed in the tamest of balls.
Being able to run past people is great but it's what happens after that determines your chances of success. Managers that persist in not playing players to use their strengths just baffle me. |
By:
seems sensible stride ,but you,ll find the likes of sterling hope they keep playing him on the left giving them the excuse to come inside and getting the comfort and protection of others, you need to be brave to keep your width, be isolated, ,hit the line and get your crosses in
By:
In a way every team needs players like Sterling who is different.
I am waiting Roy's call, lfc ! Even at my age I can cross a ball better than him and run into people just as good ! |

take ons, wtf are those ? leave him sonko, he is obviously on the wind up. no one can be that stupid. |

I want to stick up for Sterling, but I can't, the most important thing wide players need is good crossing ability and it wasn't there time after time.
Which is what I said before the squad was announced......couldn't believe Townsend was left at home, he would have been whipping in excellent crosses from Sterling's left sided position all day long against that poor Russian defence that was exposed so many times. But Sterling plays for Man City and Townsend plays in the Championship. Damaged goods for Roy. |
By:
THE ONLY WAY STERLING SHOULD EVER WEAR AN ENGLAND SHIRT AGAIN IN THIS TOURNAMENT, IS IF THE REST OF THE SQUAD GO DOWN WITH THE BUBONIC PLAGUE AND HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO NEVER CAUGHT IT...
By:
well David Sullivan reckons Payet is worth 3 times what they paid for him, making his value £30m, Sterling would cost more than that
You wouldn't get £30M for Sterling. |
By:
The thing for me is on the right he'd get into real dangerous areas of the pitch more often, closer to the goal down that side. He's not a player either side you want to see stuck to the flanks trying to cross the ball.
You ideally want him using his pace then cutting in and picking out someone in box/linking with a team mate to get into the box himself. The percentages would favour this scenario massively on his proper side. There would still be the issue of his composure but that's when you could really judge him at this level. I don't know at exactly what point he was considered a left sided player, i must have dreamed of him on the right for liverpool ![]() |
By:
he played left and right for Liverpool. Even the Liverpool fans had a song about him on the left :
Pass to Sterling on the left hand side pass to Sterling on the left hand side let him run, ball give him the ball let twist and turn let him run ball give him the ball let twist and turn. ![]() |
By:
he started on the right mover
he actually played wing back a couple of times both sides and played through the middle when we had all the injuries and balotelli was the other option .you seriously trying to tell me this playing him on the left is sensible? |
By:
I don't mind him there, thought him and Rose looked a promising combination
By:
I suppose it benefits City more when he's on the left as it free's up Silva more, than it does England
By:
it suits city more when he's not on the pitch

themover, why are you bursting a blood vessel over Sterling, you're only a pretend City fan. Calm down get back to tending to the launderette.
By:
I wonder what Pep will do with him, he's used to technical players
By:
you,ve got to laugh at all the theorys behind sterlings position, sterlings only decent football was played for about 3 months at l,pool when it didnt matter where he played,as long, and he,s the rub SUAREZ was on the pitch, same goes for henderson
By:
you don't have to laugh but to play someone on the left who has a left foot like that and expect crosses is truly
![]() |
By:
As i said the worst of all possible worlds
By:
got to be a sterling hat trick after all this
![]() |
By:
He's good at running the ball to the corner flag, but that's about it.
By:
Was shocked to see him in the team
![]() If hes going to play then the only position is right wing.Beat players then get crosses in. |
By:
He's a good outlet and ball carrier one of the fastest players in the tournament. I'd still have him the team than not. He's one of the reasons why we looked so fast and dynamic last night.
What we lacked though is that German like clinical precision when putting the ball in the net. |
By:
we had a shot from lala on target though straight at keeper and a speculator straight at keeper from rooney plus a cross shot from lala, you,d think we had a dozen 1 on 1,s with the keeper the way people are banging on about been clynical etc, kane never had a sniff all night
By:
We all know Sterling aint the greatest technically!
He is in the team because of pace and possibly carrying the ball here and there. If he were to score a hat-trick he would need to composed\clinical and have 10 chances and\or shooting against Mignolet. |
By:
TENDY1TP when i'm saying vlinical, cutting edge i'm on about the final ball that should lead to a good chance. I mentioned we didn't create enough good chances from the balance of play. The suggestion these players don't have the ability to play such a ball after the quality of some of the build up and knowing them for the domestic league is not on.When an average ball can't be made to create a chance it suggests a lack of composure more often than not. Do we have enough players that have the bottle in these situations where it counts? In other tournaments including the last WC I thought we were horrific quality wise on the ball, last night i thought the quality was in spells very good. Granted the opposition was not great but the keeping of possession (they did try to press) and tempo were better than i am used to watching us in tournaments. |
By:
*clinical
By:
striding , I think we will find out Russia are extremely moderate. The superlatives poured on England was ridiculous. Sterling is not international class. Sturridge is a far better player.
By:
as ive posted before the difference between england and the big teams is that the full backs ,midfielders of the big teams are trying to get messi, ronaldo, muller etc on the ball in the last 3rd,we,re using or best players rooney, ali, etc trying to get walker and rose on the ball in the last 3rd ,we can have as much passing bright play as you like but 95% of the time it ends up with aimless balls into the box from in world terms 2 journeymen fullbacks, bit like alves having a 1000 crosses a season for barca and creating 1 goal
By:
1st time , that's right. Rooney played well but he can't do what Wilshere offers. We really need the latter AND Vardy. I would even play Vardy if it meant Kane on the bench. but as you say the star finishers need the supply.
By:
What does Wilshere offer thats so important to the team? I hope he proves the doubters wrong but he's not the same player he was pre many injuries!
By:
in defence of Sterling at least he does try and have a go..
that is take the ball and run at the opposition albiet it didn't come off for him yesterday, i agree. |
By:
If your anagram was "Ringlets", wouldn't you try to run circles round everyone at least twice until losing your way and falling over.
By:
If sterling and llananananananaaaa start against wales it proves roy is well past it there is no point having pace if u don't pass the ball and find space to use it llannanananananananana is nothing but a poser of a footballer who likes flicks and tricks but again no end product.
By:
after so long to consider his options, i thought Woys team selection was shocking.
