Sturridge is good at finding space, it's weird at times it's like the other players just don't see where he's going and then he's in on goal. Kane has been superb for Spurs for 2 seasons, a great finisher no doubt but he has to do more than the last couple of games in terms of offering himself and his movement.
Whatever Roy does, I want to see him make changes if it's obvious something isn't working. We can't have another game where the forward seems virtually non existent. |

I see the point in that. I think Lallana does have an end product and could easily have had a couple but his scoring record for us isn't the best all things considered.
I just think in terms of a front 3 as a unit, it could work better. |

Makes sense to me too O4K, but then i would say that as well.
![]() Would help Sterling too, they played plenty together and were good at linking for club. LaLa would be in the next bracket of player IF he produced the end product he promised. I actually think he is more consistent for England but his scuffed dragged shot the other night just speaks volumes to me. |

Does anyone know where you can find assists for the internationals ?

think Roy is tragic,he might very well play sterling-persist with kane taking the corners, not make a change during the match when the change is so obvious, must make the players despair and its all set up for an eng fail, have to see the line-up obviously and give the game 10 mins....

If my club could sign either Kane or Sturridge I would want Kane all day every day.
Yes Sturridge is more naturally gifted than Kane but then again so is Ravel Morrison. Kane is a mentally strong player who hardly misses a game whereas even Klopp has questioned Sturridge's courage. It is just a pity Kane's form has dipped a little lately. |

if you used every argument put forward as to why sterling should play,he wouldnt be playing anyway because walcott would still be in the team
|
|
By:
sterling only plays for sterling and will never pass to someone in a better position because he wants all the glory himself.
suarez made him look good. england should be starting with kane and vardy but I hope they don't. |

sorry that previous post was about sturridge and not sterling.

shows how much the likes of woy are stuck in a bubble suprised by russia losing today, when everyone new russia,s performance against england was easily the worst in the competition, woy obviously deluding himself that was due to his teams performance
|
|
By:
Outpost his job is to score goals with or without suarez he scores goals at a fantastic rate when fit.
I suggest you go back and look at the goals he scored in that season put in by gerrard/coutinho/sterling/henderson and of course suarez. he was lethal 1 on 1 and usually is. I've nothing against starting with kane again, but if he's as redundant in this game after an hour he should be subbed, for all he's done in the league he has to prove it at this level in a tournament, I think he can and i hope he does but he's offered nothing in the last 2 matches, looked out of sorts to me. |
|
By:
Vardy is a sub for me later in the game especially if the opposition need to commit (like the russian game). He is much better when playing it longer imo and if there is space to run into he becomes a very dangerous player.

Kane didn't play well. He and Sterling were England's worst players. Everyone else played well, (granted Hart had nothing to do) particularly Alli, Rooney and Walker. Alli is England's best player, he makes the game look so simple, and you will see in the next few years what a good player he is. Already England's best player since Scholes, Becks and Gerrard. The difference is Kane has been playing well all season, so he's worth another chance. Sterling hasn't. As for why he is in the team, he's the only winger and the system suits him. His confidence is shot, for which the ex Liverpool players who hounded him thanks to the media must take some credit. At the end of England's qualifying campaign he looked England's best player so it has nowt to with Suarez making him look good.

The 'safe' widemen who rarely get to the byline or rarely take on their opponent and who can always hide behind the fact that they work hard get a relatively easy time from the critics.
Whereas the widemen who take risks get slaughtered every time the risk doesn't come off or if they are having a bad game. This is the English way. |

Wingers have disappeared from the game.I saw George Best(amazing),Eddie Gray,Jimnmy jonstone,John Robertson,Steve Heighway etc etc.A typical wingman now, get's the ball, turns back and either passes infield or back, the ball ends up too often with the centre half. You go from a one on one winger v full back situation to nothing.Chance to create a goal has gone. Its all about possesion nowadays, especially since Barcelona emerged. Not surprised English teams have got worse in Champs League.Last proper side we had in champs League was Man Utd ....with width.Need to be more direct, more width,...maybe Ranieri knows!
Sterling is clueless on the left,he just doesn't have the footballing brain to see things. If hes going to play then shove him on the right, hes right footed!tell him to beat full backs and get a cross in..its not rocket science for him that way. |
|
By:
agree with everything the 2 posters above say,but it also coincides with most teams playing with 1 or no centre forwards, germany play without a centre forward world champions
|
|
By:
alot of the wingers named above could be frustrating for centre forwards as theres a few dilly dancers there, i suppose the modern era centre forward would prefer to play with a widemen who got the ball in early and often, john robertson forrest, beckham etc

I can't see Sterling starting another match in these Euros and unless Pep can work some magic with him I can't see him starting more than a dozen games for City next season

Can't find a thread from a few years ago
when people first started talking about RS Said he would be playing for Tranmere or something similar in a few years time Actually that might be to higher league (for his talents) |
