sterling not even in city's first team any longer.
|
|
By:
It has already been said ...transfer fee of 50m puts him in
He has had a poor season , a poor substitute player of a 4th placed team I am no fan of Vardy but he would have been more direct and threatening , and surely would have stuck away one of those chances Dont forget though, most of all , Roy is a failed mid table club manager an FA yes man , what did you expect ? |
|
By:
Sterling is the new Aaron Lennon, cant cross and has no end product.
|
|
By:
such a shame Welbeck got injured, he's perfect for the wide role in a front 3, I also think that Townsend would have been better than both Lallana and Sterling. I just hope Roy can see that Lallana and Sterling are not the right options
|
|
By:
Townsend is a better player than anyone in that England team.
He is almost the perfect player with no weaknesses. |
|
By:
Lennon could dribble. Raheem dribbles like Heskey against Algeria
|

By:
Townsend is much better than lallana & Sterling.

Rose and Sterling down the left created England's best chances imo

i must had missed the chances sterling made.

woy is a master coach name any coach in the world who in the space of 3 weeks can take the countrys 2 most lethal strikers and
get one to sit next to him on the bench and get the other to take the free kicks and corners just to give him a kick its inspired |

Rose and Sterling down the left created England's best chances imo
Rose was fantastic Sterling was useless. Pep is going to have his work cut out making anything out of young Raheem. If he starts 20 games next season City will win zilch. |
|
By:
sick of hearing about how good rose and walker were, they had 90% of englands ball in the last 3rd between them and failed to get the ball to kanes feet or head in the box once in 90 mins
|

By:
78 mins
England surge forward again and Sterling sets up Kane on the edge of the box but his left foot shot is blocked. 66 mins Russia are defending a lot better in this half and England can't quite find a way through. Sterling takes his man on down the left and beats him for pace but his cross finds nobody in the area, because nobody is there, and then Walker tries the same thing down the right and finds a similar problem. 37 min England are genuinely playing some nice football here. Sterling touches on a pass to Rose, who finds Kane. The striker has one man to beat! But the defender wins and it's a corner. 28 mins Rose looks a little nervous. He's hit a few passes poorly and nearly lost the ball a couple of times with a poor touch. He's getting forward well though and linking with Sterling down that left wing. KANE GOOOAAAAAAAAAA - offside. 25 mins Raheem Sterling nearly goes past the two final defenders on his way to goal, but is denied by an excellent, last-ditch sliding tackle. 19 mins Sterling charges down the left, speeds past defenders, and plays a clever backheel for Rose to cross into the box. His pass is fired across the six yard box and Dele Alli is so nearly there to put it in the goal. HTH |

Sterling should not be in the team, or playing professional football for that matter until he learns how to kick a football, and control it.

By:
dear oh dear
|
|
By:
Of course he`s not the only one in fairness.
|
|
By:
I was afraid Roy wouldn't play Vardy
he will but it will probably be too late when he does |
|
By:
Sterling is playing on the left wing, very few players even very good players which Streling in not, very few can do this.
It is the most difficult position on the field, it takes a specialist to play there. |
|
By:
If you were to say nobody can play on the left wing, it is impossible, then you would not be too far from the truth.
However Thounsend can, and on the right also, or in the middle. He is perfect. |
|
By:
Sterling twice had the ball in open space when the game was stretched with Russia finally coming out he wasted both opportunities by simply running into their defenders, fcuking hopeless and it probably cost them the game as they always needed two to win it.

Lallana technically is very gifted
But as a liverpool fan last night was often what I am used to from him. Some sublime skill, very good in tight areas, nice linking outside the box and works tirelessly off the ball. Do i fancy him to actually produce enough where it really matters, that would have to be a NO ![]() He's a miles more gifted footballer than sterling who has pace to burn but no confidence in front of goal.running down the left is often end of the play, so weak on that side in particular, he should never be down that side. Both players are not clinical and that's the difference in these tournaments |

Townsend is much better than lallana & Sterling.
![]() ![]() Amazing how you can suddenly become a good player by not playing. Townsend is bang average. I don't rate Sterling as a world beater, but let's have more than 90 minutes from him before we consign him to the scrap heap. Had we won last night, the jízz would have been flying about what a great performance it was. I thought that we played really well. Don't get the Woy hate either. We've tried a supposed up and coming manager in McClaren. That didn't work. We've tried a supposed established winner in Capello and that was a right roffle. So we then appoint someone who did well at Fulham (took them to UEFA Cup final) and was never given a fair roll of the dice at Liverpool. Admittedly the World Cup in 2014 was tragic, but why do we feel the need to hound him out immediately? Why not have a go after the tournament (if deserved)? |
|
By:
Well Woy has the backing of such world class coaches as Ray Lewington to advise him, so no excuses there

No matter how many times you play sterling he will always have no end product, you either have or you dont.
|
|
By:
very good post from stridingedge, he understands football.
|
|
By:
If you just switched sides Lallana and sterling that would make a lot more sense to me.
sterling doesn't break stride so much on the right running with the ball and can actually cut in and then has his proper foot to use.Lallana doesn't really ever run past and would cut back in but still be good keepong possession on the left. If you are playing these 2 that's what i'd do. Sterling on the left is the worst of all worlds. |
|
By:
Lallana is intelligent enough and skilful enough to adapt. However it would not be natural to him...it is not for almost all players and this means it will fail under stress and pressure.
To play on the left wing you really have to have unusual qualities. |
|
By:
Whatever we do i'm sick of sterling running down the left and either over running with a bad touch or actually getting in behind only to have the weakest delivery you could imagine. It's no good him cutting back in all the time to have to use right foot instead on that side.
On the right he'd be more confident that if he gets past a player he can move in field on his stronger foot. I still don't fancy him to keep his nerve where it matters but there's a better chance, Playing him on the left is brain dead. |

LFC
like watching moreno time after time get in a good position only to fail to pick out a team mate, he's actually left footed which makes it even worse ![]() |
|
By:
it's funny how quick people forget...Sterling's cross set up Smalling's goal just 2 matches ago!
|
|
By:
tes moreno has a habit of crossing the ball up into the stands
![]() but i`m sorry regarding Sterling, he has great pace and is very strong for someone so small. There is always the possibility that he could be devastating in the right circumstances, i have seen him play more in the middle for Liverpool and England and he can play well there and score goals, although he will never be a natural finisher |
|
By:
mover every dog has its day mate
1 instance out of how many examples ? how many scuffs in the box for average /easy chances, 1 on 1's with keeper ? sorry mate i've seen enough of him to know where he has glaring weaknesses. He may become composed with maturity but it's certainly not a given and his left foot will never be all that. |

By:
In a way every team needs players like Sterling who is different.

Most completed take-ons at #EURO2016 so far:

payet scored a great winner, what did sterling do?

Good question. I feel sorry for the lad actually, not his fault he's completely over-rated.
At least Albrighton can cross a f***ing ball. |
