The amount Chelsea spent on transfer fees and wages when you won those titles was abnormal by the standards of the rest of the teams in the league, that's a plain fact. Anyway, I'm off out, all the best.

All the top sides usually qaulify for Europe ,Liverpool did not and they were knocked out of our cups early doors,this does not happen to other top sides? an abnormality that Liverpool took advantage of in a freak season.

Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool have all won the premier league without spending the net GDP of a small country.

City, Chelsea and to a much, much lesser extent, Blackburn, all had to throw as much money as possible towards the trophy to lift it. Without sugar daddies, they would still be languishing mid table,  just as they were before. It has nothing to do with football, just money.

Strange that Chelsea finished above Liverpool for Champions League qualification in the season BEFORE they attracted major investment .

  Make no mistake this was an abnormal season and a bit of a fluke .

Liverpool are seven points behind Arsenal, who currently occupy a Europa League place in fifth position, ahead of this weekend's trip to Reading, who sit at the foot of the table and face a desperate struggle to avoid relegation.
Defeat at the Madejski Stadium would be a serious blow to Liverpool's European aspirations with only six matches of their season remaining.
And while Rodgers would prefer to be in Europe next season, he admits there would be benefits to avoiding a return of European football to Anfield in the 2013/14 campaign.

 
"As a club, we want to be in there. We really enjoyed the European football this season (in the Europa League) after it had been missing for a year and I know the supporters love the travel," Rodgers said.

"It would help us compete for the top four, which is a really difficult task with the teams up there and the finances involved.
"Our squad from the beginning of this season was small and we are gradually building that up.
"We would love to be in there and we want to finish as high as we possibly can, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't qualify for Europe.
"If it doesn't happen then, it could end up being a blessing for us. It could allow us to have a real strong run at the league next year and that can then really springboard us for the years going forward.
"But ultimately we want a squad strong enough to be able to cope with European football as well as the domestic league and cups."

You are ignoring the facts that allowed Liverpool to play like that .

If Chelsea had not been succesful in the Champions League they would have probably won our league

theyve not been successful kn0b head they have reached the semis but well done anyway

i really hope its a battle against Madrid and mourinho can show his total lack of class as usual in the post match interview

Luis Suarez believes Liverpool's title challenge could benefit from not competing in the UEFA Champions League but concedes he is not sure whether they have the credentials to bring the Premier League home.

The Uruguayan striker, who is leading the race for the Golden Boot by nine goals, expects teams presently challenging in Europe may suffer from fatigue as the top flight competition heats up.

Suarez claims the intensity of the Champions League could prove to be a potential pitfall for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City above them and is eager to seize advantage in coming months.

However, despite believing Liverpool could have the edge on their closest rivals, Suarez concedes he is not convinced the Reds have what it takes to bring a first ever Premier League title to Merseyside.

"All of the clubs ahead of us are in the Champions League so they will be more tired," he told the Daily Mirror.

"I have always had that temperament, desire and hunger on the pitch and it will continue to be that way."

Spectacular

Despite taking the lead against both City and Chelsea, Liverpool lost both ties 2-1 in the space in of three days but Suarez remains confident the Reds are moving in the right direction.

"We lost at City and Chelsea, but it's all right, we are playing well and are on the right track," he added.

"I am with a spectacular club that I've always wanted to play for. The team is playing well.

"I feel comfortable on the pitch, I feel comfortable despite what happens in other stadiums. I love playing here in England."

Liverpool have endured a three-year Champions League exile since their first round exit in 2010 but Suarez insists they are displaying the necessary form to compete with Europe's elite.

Temperament

"We have shown we have the level to play in the Champions League," he claimed.

"That is really important because in the last two years we haven't demonstrated Liverpool can play there.

"Now we are playing very well, we have really good players and if we continue at this level, we can do it."

Suarez' dominance in the Premier League statistics is made all the more noteworthy by the fact he missed the first six games of the season through suspension after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic; however the 26-year-old forward admits he has learnt from his mistakes.

"You work hard for the supporters and the people," added Suarez. "It's important because the last few months were a little difficult. Now I've changed and it's okay.

"I have always had that temperament, desire and hunger on the pitch and it will continue to be that way.

"But I know now I have to control it more. I am trying hard, and I have changed. I don't want to create any controversy."
