Are ALL the commentators wanting India to win this or do they just go with the team on top?

Broad is remarkably accomplished as a pundit/in front of camera, considering how recently he was playing.
I could listen to him, DK and Ponting all day |
|
By:
Agree Apt , superb listening.
|

As for the match, I'm with WinViz for once ~75:25 India - market far too wary of England.
That said, hoping for another hour-plus of Brook. Were it to happen - especially without their chaser-extraordinaire Stokes, and minus an all-rounder - it would be a phenomenal chase. |

These two get another hundred and I will be wearing my brown pants. I just hope it clouds over. It is looking a little darker here with clouds from the South West incoming.

First hour after lunch will probably sway the match one way or another.
Down to India's bowlers. |

Is there a luckier batsman in world cricket than Harry Brook ? He seems to have 3 or 4 lives an innings. Siraj losing his bearings there being a prime example.
I concur about Broad as a pundit, he talks well. In stark contrast to my only experience of actually meeting him in a Leicester late night venue back in 2006. Leicestershire had just thrashed Kent in the 20/20 QF at Grace Road and so me and my mate were drowning our sorrows when we bumped in to a young Joe Denly who had driven up to Leicester to be an unused 12th man - he even had to book and pay for his own hotel ! How times change. Anyway Joe knew Broad from u19 cricket and when he and his Leicester team mates turned up for a few drinks he introduced us to them. The likes of Darren Maddy, Claude Henderson and co were great fun and happy to mix with us mere plebs. However Mr Broad pretty much looked down his nose at us and basically ignored us even though we had congratulated him on a superb bowling performance against our own county. Behaving like that did not impress me but maybe it was just down to him being so young . He seems much more affable these days. |

Just looked back and this is the first test match for over two years i've not been financially involved in , can't explain why as it's been topsy turvy enough.

2-2 would be a fair outcome for the series; let's hope that it's 3-1

How India must wish Bumrah was playing today instead of last week. Lets face it he should be able to play both matches anyway. Unless he was completely unfit he should be wanting to play in a series deciding match, not resting.

Batting looking easy now. Pitch is not as responsive. Will the cloud make any difference?
Are we looking at something special? |
|
By:
|
|
By:
Yes. They should have known it was a draw pitch and saved him. Of course we all wanted him to play but they should have looked at the pitch an£ worked it out and been aware of all the draws this summer

I think Brook is class as is young Bethell
|
|
By:
yes broad is a natural and interesting to listen to- i think the sky commentary team are generally very good apart from Ozzie Mel who is dreadful
|
|
By:
Yup, we sure are spoiled to have world no's 1 & 2 in our middle order.

Dreamed of it for Graeme Hick but never even became our no.1 bat

I take it you mean the appalling Hundred Jerry ? BBC will be giving it the big one again whilst most cricket lovers will be totally disinterested.
The One Day Cup of course will be mainly ignored by the MSM but it will have my full attention as we get to see what some fringe players and youngsters can do. As for Root - he will be pretty sure to score runs against the Aussies as he does against all others. It's the rest of the batting i'd be worried about ! |

164/3 at lunch.
After an hours play England 231/3. A stroll now it would seem. |
|
By:
The Hundred isn't even good for betting
We are so used to working out rrr using the 6 ball overs That's sets of 5 so it's hard to judge the run lines etc It's effectively 16.66 overs so it's too quirky for me |

Wild! Had a look at the Test rankings...
The Australian attack (and it's first reserve) make up half of the top-ten. Might be quite a tough proposition over there ![]() |

Too many free runs here
|
|
By:
Gill may be a fine batsman but he has a lot to learn about captaincy. There's no real pressure on the batsmen at the moment, its a stroll as conditions have got much easier today.

brown pants at the ready WD?

WD - i see you were on about coaching earlier. We never really had much of it at the Maths school although we did have some good facilities, nets, several pitches and necessary equipment. We just had normal teachers who liked the game who gave us advice but no formal coaches. But every Friday night a dad of one of my school mates who knew his stuff would take us to a local ground and we practiced bowling for several hours with his guidance. I learnt a lot from that.
During the school holidays in the summer a crowd of us would spend many a day with bat and ball and a set of stumps in the local rec. Sadly you very rarely see it these days even though there is plenty of space in my village for kids to do so. They all seem to prefer being on their phones or games consoles. Going back to your Gillingham Grammar days WD, do you remember an asian lad called Yogi who was a good bat, probably a couple of years above you ? |
