Trying to clear England red at 5. England in huge trouble here but they have to stick in the game and get wickets in clusters. |

Don’t think they do Jerry
India need to pound England into dust. Destroy their spirit. India might need 400 if this pitch is flattening out but I think it might take spin. Two questions. How many will India get? How much will it rain? Still not half way through this Test! |
|
By:
There is a chance India might lead by 300 before the second new ball. That will be after tea.
I do hope Gill make a big score and posts a huge aggregate for the series. He deserves it. |

The pitch is still doing things! There are more than two and a half days to play. Bethell spun one off the straight. India in no hurry here. They lead by 166, that is not a winning score yet. I am not sure 300 is a winning score just yet but I think it will prove to be enough. Are you on India by any chance? |

They must be worried |

They got out of jail last week WD but that said if 1-1 going into today it would have been a different intensity level so nobody knows how it would have panned out today , suspect the game would have been a lot different with far more points scored.

That's a clever run line they've put out but can't think they'll want or need that many if the luxury of declaring , they can't leave much to chance in case of weather and surely have the mentality that 2-1 or 3-1 are effectively the same thing.

India imho would bat that far. Lunch tomorrow why not?
I am not sure India will score 450. Wickets in clusters. Lost my exit point again but runs on the board. It is a little darker now and clouds around. Poor shot from Nair. India under the pump now. I hope Jaiswal scores freely |
|
By:
Run line is 437.5
Will they go that far? Brought my attention to this over lunch and took a nibble, thanks Jerry ![]() |

The difference between 4.9 and 5.0…….. absolute misery!
Worst thing is I thought about it too! |

Carse, Atkinson, Archer and Wood - salivating for the Ashes if we can get them all onto the pitch
|
|
By:
A 266 target will give England plenty of hope.
Also India need to ground and pound these bowlers and hammer the old ball |
|
By:
I like that for England this winter.
Rotate Archer and Wood Rotate Tongue and Carse Rest Atkinson when needed with Overton. Allows you to play. Bashir or Rehman |

Now you know how they felt when Noel Edmonds used to ask that same question WD , deal or no deal.

I am after the Big One tbh
300 seems a long way off to me. I would feel far better if the lead extended beyond 350 The thing is wickets make you forget you are tired. If these two put on a 50 partnership England will look tired again India are not convincing me right now, even Jaiswal is not looking fluent although he is looking determined |
|
By:
A "266 target" would be a record run chase for England at The Oval if they achieved it WD.
263 to win against the Aussies in 1902 is the current record. They have only chased over 200 successfully here on one other occasion - 204 v South Africa in 1994. |

I'm expecting a fifty knock from Jaddu when he graces us , averaging 113.5 in this series as he's been not out 50% of his innings.

Times change Dixie!
My heart would not take 266! I do however think there will be cloud over much over the rest of this Test. That is reassuring with runs on the board. 65 overs remaining so I do think India will bat on and not declare. Not sure they get to 437.5 though. Still a tough ask with a second new ball but bowlers will tire. Once your in you are in. |
