any news on Gough and Harmy talking up a 50 or 60 run lead as being massive..
game lost (probably) last night when Yadav helped steer it through when England were absolutely all over India...bit of a window today @ 3 down on the back of Crawley's knock as well...still deserve some credit again for competing so hard for much of the game when over matched in these conditions... aside from the start to this chase - the morning session was easiest for batting in terms of balls mis-behaving even when the new one was taken.. |

Another false dawn.
They needed a 100 lead, but couldn't blast out the last three, and then followed it up with another horrible collapse. India then got off to a flyer, and the game is almost over. At least they will have another day off. |

since England won in India in 2012/2013 with arguably England's best side of the modern era.. India have won 16 (sixteen) consecutive home series... since McCullum and Stokes took over they hadn't lost a series prior to this one.. |

Aside from usual suspects who would complain at their grandchild's christening...I think what gets anyone who watches us is that we are soooooooooo close.
We've been favourites in each blooming match, in India! (I'd wager plenty that no other side has done that since that 2012 series you mention - and maybe we didn't in that one) And we have a side made up of several very rough diamonds. Crikey, Bashir was playing club cricket six months ago  And we're missing one of the most promising Test batters in all of cricket. Not a stretch to think he'd have dropped at least one match-turner, especially when compared to JB. |

yep, I think the inexperience of the spinners especially makes it impressive...massive credit for the handling of them for the most part, though Bashir especially looks quite a talent..

They're (so far) just about finding a way to stay ahead of our imposters. Jaiswal is obscene & Jadeja - in these conditions - is the most valuable cricketer alive. Incredible series, I wish it would go on and on. (And start at 8am, not 4am) |

Those cheap 40 runs looked bad at the time, even worse now.
It's all very well praising England, but they quickly turned a winning position into a losing one. Given the position India found themselves in 5 wickets is a relatively comfortable win. |

I agree a couple of lame finishes from England but it is no exaggeration that either side could possibly have ended 4-0 up at this stage.
England have done wonderfully well imho given what they have in their armoury. The young spinners have been a revelation and a drill isn’t call by Key and his team. Our openers have performed better than expected. Root is pure class but has only come to the party in the first innings. The middle order has let us down to a degree and Brook is absent. Remove YJB and put in Brook is one thing and also possibly Will Jack ( can’t remember why he is not here ). All in all I think England have given us something to be proud of and our disappointment is merely a rejection of our hopes and aspirations. Sadly the Bazball counter attack was missing yesterday at the very time it was needed. I still think India and Rohit in particular were rattled in the first three Test’s. Lest we forget India were without Kohli, Shami, Rahul, PANT ffs and Bumrah in this match. Jaiswal came of age, Jurel looks a Test player as does Safaraz in hone conditions We should not get too despondent. It has been a brilliant series to watch with plenty of swings and they have Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep, who up to this point were relatively out bowled by our kids! Stats wise anyway. |

As with every series the performance / outcome is partly measured on expectation levels so with that in mind even if England lose 4-1 i'd say the team have performed with some credit simply by keeping most tests competitive at various stages.
Certainly no need for any knee-jerking reaction and for me it's a tour to take the positives out of , build on the youthful promise and accept the realization that this is a series lost in India's backyard , so keep everything in perspective. Good luck in the final test guys  |

I thought England battled so well but gave away two wickets. I’ve piled into the runs market based on the pitch and England being lucky against the new ball. o325-350 is my current range. I expect Root to come good in this wicket. |
