Gosh, do we have a Test match now...

What a series!

As Swanny's just said - and at risk of repeating myself - Duckett will be livid.

He looked awful (out three times) for his 20 odd on the third morning of 3rd Test when he put away his attacking shots.

One of a very rare breed who looks to be in more jeopardy relying on his defence.

Equally, and moreover, not many match situations where one of his rapid 43s would be more valuable than here...

Beautiful shots from Crawley Love

yep, Duckett not really got a proper defence...don't see any issue with him always going pretty hard...

Crawley a player that always looks better playing shots as well...some beautiful conventional shots as well..Love

Test-Duckett is England's equivalent of opening with T20-Narine.

Not everyone will be in favour, but whatever...do not get out blocking.

I am seriously biased.

Pope gets an unparalleled worldie review first up (>2.5m down wicket), then an umpire's call. Out twice in three deliveries.

Root then gone LBW without the entirety of the ball in line with stumps when pitching, when hitting pad, or when hitting stumps Cool

And bizarrely, Root's dismissal easily the most convincing of the three Laugh

Excellent start this, especially from 19/2.

some good running by Eng...still not sure what wins this..250-260 certainly feels very defendable but as long way from bullet proof..played a lot better than it should with the size of those cracks..

Poor shot from Crawley. Chance is a second innings hundred thrown away.

He is developing into a good opener however. England have been impressive after such a demoralising defeat

I have no problem with DRS. It works pretty well. Umpires call is actually a good thing otherwise what is the point of them?

I like umpires call..have been a few that have looked a bit odd this series but just have to live with that assuming the tech is impartial..

Wow!

There you go apt! How do you feel about Umpires Call now!

How is the human eye supposed to deal with such close decisions? Good decision by Umpire re Stokes….. How Ironic!

Interesting to hear his views on that!

India not reviewing a plum lbw..Crazy

I don't like it :)

Umpires used to make big calls in tennis, they're still there but their role is hugely diminished.

DRS has already done that to standing umps in cricket, just not as significantly - and I could make a decent case that if they invented the game today, there would be one and they'd be more akin to a tennis ump.

Hey ho, there a far bigger hills on which I'd die in this world so I'm happy to acquiesce. Blush

just subjective anyway mate...

There’s my point too.

They expect an Umpire to call a tight decision but they did even realise that was pad first. Umpires are human. Technology is pretty damn good gif our sport.

On the match front...

200 could easily win this and at the same time it feels as if India could win this just as easily with 310/4...

I *love* DRS, btw...the degree of this love is why I think the whole lot should be handed over.

I trust it implicitly.

My God apt

How old are you?

Do you remember a player called Javed Miandad?

He was never given out lbw in Pakistan until, can’t remember exactly either a World Cup match with neutral umpires or a Test Match with neutral umpires

I am not saying we are in football stupidity territory by any means but we are arguing over minutiae, which, is ashley great as we can without vitriol unlike football

England a decent price at 7/5 here

Big Ben

How many low balls does he get but should have played forward!
By:
Whisperingdeath
When: 25 Feb 24 08:39
200 should be enough but 250 brings the field in and puts pressure on the batsman
By:
Aptdemon
When: 25 Feb 24 08:39
We're on the same side, Wd...

How are Miandad's friends faking his LBW on a tv screen (AI aside)..?

Yes apt we are …… and also put my money on Engerlund so I am very nervous and posting to take my mind off things as I don’t smoke but if I did I would smoke more Embassy’s than Hurricane Higgins and the SAS combined!

If you're still on England at 3.8 then that's a lovely (albeit nerve-wracking) spot to be in.

Such a strange pitch, I'd like to set 300.

Our bowlers remain inexperienced, regardless of how well they bowled first up.

Bashir (who's only played seven or eight matches in his career) might essentially have had to bowl 75 overs in succession...and have a quick bat himself in between Cool

Hope England batters don't forget we need a few runs here, too.

We haven't got a Jurel/Stokes at the other end...

Maybe we're waiting to get seven down, when even I could cash in on this deck.
