Surely Anderson is finish

Stokes inability to bowl has unbalanced this team significantly. I think if he could bowl Wood would have played in thus match. You vcant have Anderson, B-road and Robinson in the same team if they bowl like this. Really helpful conditions are not being exploited. I don’t think Woakes is the answer either but the cupboard is bare.

Sadly Bairstow is also coming up short as a keeper this summer

Might as well forfeit the series said as much first day
We're clearly no match for them and you know the collapses will come the rot has set in already Forfeit the series in Aus as well, save everyone the hassle |
|
By:
I think that collapse this morning was the point everyone should have just got up and got refunds for tickets beyond today
Waste of time |
|
By:
The scary thing is this could end up 5-0 at home
|
|
By:
Yep..looks like a 5 nil. Only had to watch the ipl this year..England players all stunk..understand this is vastly different but they are bringing 20 20 philosophy here and man we look inept..a lot of talent in the team but little application
|
|
By:
no wonder they look inept , should have heard their coach J Patel summary on TMS earlier

'We'll worry about the result on day 5' haha. I hope someone is compiling all these Bazball quotes. The dressing room must resemble some kind of never never land.

not sure i can take any more pain of watching this anymore

Thankfully I am out today, but will in all probability see another England batting collapse tomorrow. I can't really see today being a great day for spectators, as Australia, will make sure there is no collapse of their 2nd innings and they will probably leave England around 475 to get and then get a couple of quick strikes in our 2nd innings this evening, which may include a night watchman.

that tms interview now on again

oz will bat all day and rack up a big score

Anybody know how many times McCullum was actually on a winning NZ test match team when up against the Aussies as all i seem to remember the Aussies usually battering NZ at test matches.
|
|
By:
Have just had a quick look through the records and although an unbelievable cricketer and coach with entertaining attacking style he does not have much experience of beating the Aussies at test match level but i suppose not many nationalities have either anyway i think his test debut was in 2004 and he retired after the test match on 20/2/2016 and during that period i found Aussies winning 13 tests to NZ winning just the once and i think there was at couple of draws in there.

just posted another thread, scot need 182 to beat the windies , wc qualifier

I can’t see Aus declaring until an hour after tea with a lead of no less than 450. The pitch is good still.
|
|
By:
This could be England’s Dunkirk if they can claim a draw from the impending disaster.
Bairstow really should not be keeping wicket. |
|
By:
i think itll be around 20 mins before tea
|
|
By:
Bairstow has been pretty terrible today.
Jimmy drops his second dolly so we can get Smith next ball ![]() |
|
By:
You might be right specially as Travis Head is now in but then Cummins will want 475 and that will be Duffy to get before tea particularly as Head is in for a barrage!
Aus we’re spooked by “ Bazball “ but since yesterdays fireworks know they have the England batsmen under manners. The batsmen will have to adapt and play themselves in tomorrow. The Sky boys have said this pitch is two paced and a little slow. The next 3 will be quicker. I don’t think Aus will fall for this tic-tac-toe next time. They have also said the cross seam makes it difficult to judge the pace and bounce. I think Anderson will be missing at Headingley unless it has cloudy. |

By:
Smith and Khawaja are lucky they are great batters and not in the England side after being dismissed in the identical way to Pope, Root, Duckett and Brook (the braindead planks)
|
|
By:
Let's not even get started on Head and his first ball.
Don't these world class legends know they were 187/2 and could just bat England completely out of the match by just batting and not getting out. |
|
By:
They got to 187/2 with only two of them getting out so what were Smith and Khawaja thinking getting themselves out?
Now four have them are out and it could have only been two if they hadn't gotten out. Why take their foot off England's throats when they could have just not got out and kept scoring runs? |
|
By:
Couldn't agree more. Brainless batting and they have put unnecessary pressure on their side. Will be surprised if Green gets many and England can chase down 350 imo.
|
|
By:
Head's got to just ignore that ball. He can't try to score from it and he definitely can't try to fend it off.
The one he pulled for four the over before was a sublime shot, though. |

lol calm down apt'
![]() let's be honest neither batting line up covering themselves in glory if you can't negotiate the short ball a bit better than this....maybe the pitch not coming off at true pace or bounce... |
|
By:
Brain dead for sure.
What I do not understand is how professional cricketers who have nets, net bowlers and machines cannot figure how to play this stuff. It is so easy particularly as it is pitching 10m away. I like what Green is doing here, so far anyway. Get your eye in. |

Strauss: "Outstanding from England this morning"
Pah. Australia bowled like the "bang average" team they are yesterday. And their batters have made England look like world beaters today. They've lost three wickets for 10 runs. All to short balls. Short balls are easy, everyone knows. (I sure as hell didn't sh1t my pants every time I saw one coming for my head in school cricket) |

probably reflects how rarely the top order especially have to deal with it these days...wouldn't have lasted long in the 70's or 80's if you can't play short stuff...

I do take your points though mate...

I know you do

a fully fit Stokes would have been handy for 5 or 6 overs of short stuff
