Much like it was fine Duckett flailing around for the first 133 deliveries (he left two), but not the 134th.

Cummins and Starc clearly electric for their first spells this morning, knowing they were gonna go hell for leather up at England. They did it superbly, but we went nowhere...and still got out (not having gotten into any hint of touch).

For me, the English press, the English old guard (players and fans) don't deserve the past twelve months of innovation.

The stats say that it is the batsmen where Australia lead the world with 3 in the top 6. Only Root from the England side would make the world top 10 and the second top rated is Brook who is very promising but inexperienced in tests. Crawley and Duckett not in the top 40! The 90 in this match is the best opening partnership for 30 years which says it all.

Broad has gone from a useful batsman to a total free wicket.

Australia bowled extremely well, recognised how muddled we'd become and got their tactics spot on.

What irks the most is blaming Bazball/Stokes for every dismissal, but it receiving zero praise when it's working.

At 188/1, Pope made a bold attempt to pull into the stands and immediately the naysayers came out.

But it is 188/1, going at 5 an over...sometimes a bad shot is just a bad shot. (KP, another great, lauded the shot...saying he just didn't quite execute)

We failed to put up a decent score for about 24 months prior to 'Bazball' - now they're scoring much bigger, practically every innings and people complain because they get out going aggressively.

We just scored 300+. Many, many a time, we all remember, England would not score 300 even once...for months.

We're not out of this match, even now. We're a shorter price after *all of that* than we were after a lethargic day one.

think a few of them including the extremely talented Brook just need to work on the bowling machine at how they want to play quick short stuff...for most of the 188-1 the Aussies hadn't really gone to the short pitched plan

no good keep hitting it in the air when there's 2 men back for the shot...play it when it's a length you can get on top of, duck or sway the really short stuff and wear a big chest pad so you can let a few just hit you if need be...

don't get much exposure to 90mph quicks in the county game and not that often even in test cricket so understandable it causes problems but still need to find a way that puts the % in your favour...

Steve Waugh stopped playing the hook completely and was prepared to wear a few and sway others, Ponting used to largely only play stuff he could get on top off unless he was absolutely flying...

Fact is Bazball has also confused some of the England batsmen. This is Test cricket. This was possibly the best bowling attack in the World. England lost the plot when Lyon went off injured. How many overs have the Aussies bowled?

I like the positive approach that has been adopted but it has to be used in conjunction with intelligence and sadly England and their leadership have been found wanting.

Apt, we all remember 30-3 and 40-4 so our frustration is even higher now. Throwing away games is criminal. That is what we have done twice and we are not even one and a half matches into a five Test Series!
