Further to all that, we were 80% to win at Edgbaston and even in this one...more than £1m has been matched on us at evens and below.
To suggest this is some shallacking, even remotely resembling the kind we've had dished up since the 80s is - plainly - moronic. Some people are dumb; others are insolent and dumb. |

They can flat track bully some of the weaker international sides but the point has been laboured about controlled aggression and reckless aggression. Perhaps when you have worked to get yourself into a strong position you might want to consolidate (thats not passive) rather than attack

my natural tendency is to agree with that Rothko - but we saw Australia try that approach against a weaker attack and fall on their a*** only a couple of hours ago...

Starc opened up incredibly. Cummins will retire an Australian legend. And Hazlewood averages mid-twenties over a very decent sample.
England have put more at Australia - I'm sure they'd attest as much themselves - in two matches than probably almost any group of players that this Oz side has encountered. We're gonna come up short, almost certainly, but nobody is laughing at this England team. (Except perhaps a selection of their own fans) |

I think we have some talented cricketers and arent that far behind the aussies but the whole approach, decisions, and overall conduct has been poor

Not out for me, he didn't have any fingers under the ball when he was gaining control of it. Smith's catch was fair enough I thought, he had fingers under the ball. It's never mattered whether the ball touches the ground, weirdly.

Theyre better at test cricket its that simple
We at least do realise we no longer have a solid test side and try to counter it with a positive mindset and aggressive nature which is entertaining at least. But we cant beat at this moment no matter how we play. One thing is certain though Anderson cant be going down there in 18 months, and Broad cant either And I dont think Robinson is up to much on their pitches either |

watching these two teams playing short pitched bowling proves to me that the standard of batting of both teams and including the others these days is tmho extremly poor, watching these players play short stuff is cringeworthy, this justifies to me the high standards of the old boys from boycott, gooch, richards, gavaskar etc etc, who played faster bowlers 100 times better than these ( without body armour on most occassions) , they hooked, swayed, dived and ducked , these lot havent a clue .

Changing the subject, how can Pope with a clear injury have been forced to take the field under threat of being banned from batting while Lyon who missed almost a whole innings in the field was allowed to bat? It might make no difference but they did put on 14 for the last wicket. I can't for the life of me see the difference other than that one was a shoulder injury and one a calf. And while I am at it, have runners been banned now? Lyon could have got off strike with a runner.

The umpire at the bowlers end was not even watching but I suppose the third umpire is the arbiter. Totally unsporting but that is the end of the game effectively.
