Agree with earlier poster and stated on these threads before, Ben Foakes is without doubt our most talented/natural wicketkeeper and imo his actual batting technique is superior to Buttler and Bairstow especially against the quicks . Agree with WD about giving Crawley another chance for Burns and Wood coming back in ,after that we don't have a move!

Try My Best
Its not about wanting us to lose 5-0 its about being honest We’re not good enough And we’ve poor for most of Roots captaincy and Silverwood has done nothing good at all |

I think England have shown glimpses of quality. I agree that their overall performance hasn't been up to it especially the fielding which has sucked. Thought they showed plenty of battling qualities the last day and I agree that they also haven't had the rub of the green. Sport is unpredictable and I think England have it in them to win a test. If they do win the next game with potentially Starc and Hazelwood out the series takes on a different complexion. I think some on here have been slightly premature in their condemnation of their side.

Silverwood backed Root’s public appraisal of Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson not bowling full enough in Adelaide – albeit while also stating the Hawk-Eye data showed these lengths to be similar to those of the hosts – and said this made up part of the team’s debrief. The topic has raised eyebrows in Australia, most notably those of the country’s decorated former captain, Ricky Ponting.
“I nearly fell off my seat when I heard that,” Ponting told cricket.com.au. “Whose job is it then to make them change? Why are you captain then? If you can’t influence your bowlers on what length to bowl, what are you doing on the field?” |

3rd Test @ the MCG (Melbourne)
Early prices Aus 1.49 Draw 5.5 Eng 6.4 Pretty sure another drop in pitch at the MCG but since the boxing day borefest of England's last tour...big scores have been quite hard to come by.. 2018 Ind 443-7 & 106-8 dec Aus 151 & 261 2019 Aus 467 & 168-5 dec NZ 148 & 240 2020 Aus 195 & 200 Ind 326 & 70-2 Eng :Wood and Leach/Bess fancied to come in for Eng (Woakes and Broad), possibilities of Crawley replacing one of the openers and Bairstow for Pope... Aus : Starc expected to be fit, Hazelwood unlikely, Cummins to return with one of Richardson or Neser (more likely) to miss out... Weather : Generally set fair with some sporadic cloud expected and comfortable temps... |

If the grass is live England have an ageing gun slingers chance…..assuming they choose not to bat on a green top
By:
I might be inclined to play Bess against the 4 left hookers. My first choice though would have been Moen. Well done the management in the way they handled him over the years!

So its 4 changes
![]() Bairstow, Crawley, Wood and Leach Not sure Leach will do anything on this wicket Crawley and Bairstow is obvious changes as Burns and Pope arent up to it But Id have kept Broad in and dropped Anderson personally All in all I still dont see it making any difference the bowling is still toothless and the batting brittle |
By:
The batting is very very brittle, forecast for monday is a whopping 17 degrees centigrade, with no sun and plenty of cloud, whoever wins toss will in all probability bowl if that is the case. Weather suppose to get up to 33 degress, come Thursday, although i doubt the game will get anywhere near the 5th day, because unless Root, possibly Stokes, can go big, its will no teach day 5.
By:
Knowing Root he’ll bat first on a overcast green top
By:
This is as close to the best Engerland side we could have hoped for. Still not sure about Leach.
I would have had Crawley in from the start and that is why. He is tall with a good stride, aggressive and good against short bowling at pace. If he can stay in he might put Aussie on the back foot or certainly less aggressive Tough start for the openers. I fortunately she it’s happens as an opener. He had to play that |

That took a bit of time to get

wouldn't blame hameed much for that. tough ask for crawley too. not had a bat for months then come and have a bat on a green pitch at the MCG as a opener which is not his position. thanks very much
By:
Australia have took the pi33 and brought in a 32 uncapped bowler ffs
They aint even taking us seriously now |
By:
I wouldn't make any excuses. You could have dropped either opener.
It was a decent delivery, but his feet have hardly moved, and he has just hung the bat out. |
By:
Not much swing here
Was just about to say Crawley looks like he understands what he needs to do ![]() But I would have him going after anything that is full, just get your foot nearer to the pitch young man |
By:
Hameed was on the backfoot and looked like he had no intention of taking anything on so a walking wicket on this wicket
So far Crawley looks iffy |
By:
Yeah Hameed was Ashley on the front foot bu5 had retreated so deep into his crease the front foot was on the popping crease. I know it’s a new ball, Australia and against genuinely fast bowlers but Like like to see a big step forward to cover any movement
By:
I think it could be Crawley’s lucky day today. Just have a feeling about his luck so far
By:
just too easy for Australia, what a gift lol
By:
They havent even come out of first gear all series Australia
![]() Its been a walk in the park |
By:
Oh dear, second time he got squared up!
I was just about to say this might be a good toss to lose. No great terrors in the pitch ![]() Just terrors watching our batsmen. ![]() |
By:
Good thing they have wasted a large number of deliveries. It could be even worse.
What's happened to the usual commentators - Warne and co. ? |
By:
Start has bowled filth and Hazlewood isn’t playing. 14-2 shocking but we are used to it. Looking forward to India South Africa which at least should be a contest
By:
Throw it at his box
![]() ![]() |
By:
Australia dont need to bowl anything decent just bowl decent enough and we’ll gift them wickets in clusters
By:
Boland and Green theyre taking the utter p!33 with those pair, its like Man City playing some random bloke out the local pub
Boland?? They must be p!33ing themselves how bad we are ffs |
By:
This Boland is similar to the Michael Beer joke of 2010/11
By:
Boland is bang average should be scoring runs against him

Vaughan on Aussie commentary
![]() |
By:
not so woke and gullible in the Aus box
By:
We’re not 3/30 (yet at least) improvement
![]() |
By:
I don’t care too much for Vaughan’s opinion. England get to lunch and the game will have a new complexion and questions will be asked about this Aussie attack....or we could be 40-4 again!
Good chance here fir England to rebuild. We’ll see if Starc can bowl better second spell otherwise they may have something to think about this afternoon. |
By:
Starc definitely not on it so far, they might be regretting not resting him
By:
Then again they could have stuck mr blobby out there and still knocked us over easily enough
By:
Turn and bounce for Gary. He is going to be difficult to hit out of the attack.
By:
40-2 Engerland
Progress or another false dawn? |
By:
Unbelievable
Lunch! |
By:
They must be following a script. Last over before lunch and first few overs of the day.
