Surely that must mean a change of openers. Malan is the obvious one as he is regularly coming in after only 2-5 overs so he might as well open.

I'd guess Hameed will get at least one more go, looked ok at that gabba without going on with it..

Haven't managed to see much of Burns bat this series (for obvious reasons) but is it me or have his triggers become slightly less extreme?
Doesn't look as though he is quite as 'twisted' towards legside anymore. |

By:
yep, think you might be right..bit less going on maybe..

if he gets another 10 he ain't getting dropped, which will delight some I'm sure...

(34) would guess he still stays in the team..showed some guts at least..

It's not just his batting, he has been dropping catches too. That was his last chance. No more excuses

Commentators ( Aussies ) were going on about what great hands Smifff has. What Ashley made the catches were not his hands but feet as in knees and hips. Very soft, crouched and moved with the ball. Butlers leg movement is sheite and he loses the ball with his eyes. Not sure if he closes his eyes but they are certainly not on the ball when he drops them. Contrast that to the saucers Smiff has on the ball.
If you look at the glove work of Carey you will also see he follows the ball with his legs left to right and knees and hips up and down. Is Butler Vice Captain. Obvious he should be dropped and obvious that he won’t be! |

The misery continues. Aussies have never been slow to rub it in.
Don't really understand this rule of stumps after Root's wicket. Why not give the fielding side full benefit of taking a late wicket? |

Would probably have made no difference to the result, but shouldn't Root have retired? It is very rare to see a batsmen show that much pain. Aussies must have loved that almost as much as getting his wicket.
As for what's left if Pope goes early I think Stokes and Butler should just try smack a few. No real point Stokes waiting until the bowlers come in. |

Our lot are probably hoping the rest of the series gets called off for co vid
You can see they dont wanna be there it couldnt be more obvious and theyve been like that since the very first ball I can it being total humiliation as the series goes, out for sub 250s on batting paradises is never a good sign, but I see us being run through for sub 100 a couple of times as well Our bowlers will get ground into the dirt for 2 days in at least 2 of the next 3 to boot, and the Aussies arent even gonna have to make that 500+ once either ![]() |

By:
good from Woakes and Butler (fortunate not to have gone early) .. at least not a total capitulation...draw from 90's + into 17.5..
new ball shortly though.. |

We are just so poorly prepared.
Quite some boi cue on this Adelaide wicket but our batsmen just do not seem to be able to grasp the art if the leave an£ our bowlers bowl too short for fear of being driven. The coaches have not been able to do anything about this so have no point and need not be there. The Captain does lead by example but he is just able to lead this bunch of cricketers who really are not as bad as they appear. The Head Coach is what? What is the point of a man who cannot get his bowlers to bowl the right length of his batsmen to bat like a Test Cricketers? One thing that there is absolutely no excuse for is poor fielding particularly bad catching. We need a wicket keeper, why don’t we have one? Why are the same people dropping slip catches? Why are we taking wickets off no balls? |

What gets me Brent is these people are professional sportsmen. They can get almost anything they want. Cheteshwar Pujara can have a net that is 6 hours long and he is from India. Ok they have a billion people but not always great facilities.
As a kid I never batted for more than 10 maybe 15 minutes in a net. Even Butler has huge technical floors in his batting and keeping that someone who has never played professional cricket can see. Why are these faults not addressed? People get paid big money and someone needs to answer these questions. |

That’s right sonts
We are happy we did not lose the game before lunch! The wicket is slowing and not bouncing as much. |

By:
Damn, I'm on Woakes top bat (only fun stakes)...to compound everything that's gone wrong in this Test for England, now I have to find it miserable when I at least watch Buttler race to 50 with the tail
