Buttler would be as criticised for being out after 20 (15) as he would for 0 (15) but I know which I prefer to witness.

If we had a solid 1-6, he would be the ultimate weapon (& luxury) coming in at five down.

He never looks right when he tries to drop anchor, though & I guess that means, however much it pains me, he's not a good fit for Tests.

England only have two test class batsmen - Root and Stokes. This series will be a whitewash.

Both these are looking solid. I really don’t think Aus will want to bat in the last 20 overs so might just let England off in the next session. Possible value in Aus lay right now.

very tempting to enforce but if they only take one tonight, back to back days in the field never much fun..

Couldn't catch the rest but Warner just said, "...six balls, at the head..."

we need a bit of aggro apt'...way too friendly so far Happy

Oz to bat again and a relieved Rory Burns though every chance he'll be batting just after tea tomorrow...

480 in about 120 overs if not bowled out would be feel a reasonable kind of scenario...

Dreadful again against an attack minus two frontline bowlers. Everything seems on repeat. Even the two who got going again then gave it away, in fact Malan's shot was as bad as anything. That is two 80's, but fair to say he has rode his luck to get them.

Australia taking the piss now. This is the worst possible strategy, no follow on in the deadly 20 overs night shift. They know they don’t need to use game logic and strategy against this piss poor team lol

Its not a great team for sure, its not piss poor either. The problem is about the cricket played in this country. Proper cricket is only played at the start of the season, when its either freezing cold, piddling down with rain, or green wickets, which suit seam bowlers and then at the end of the season, when the surfaces should suit spinners on dusty surfaces, if the weather has been kind during the summer months. The loss of Alistair Cook, as I stated at the time, would be a massive loss. Too much mickey mouse cricket is played in this country, you don't need a T20 and a 100 ball competition. The problem is for the counties, is that its the only cricket where you get a decent crowd in paying to watch games, which generates 95% of their income. The current England players in this squad that are good enough, are Joe Root, Ben Stokes and obviously Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson who are now ageing fast as well, so there are going to be even bigger problems when those 2 retire and I'm expecting Jimmy to play his last test at the end of next summer. Bairstow and Butler are ok, although the standard of Butlers keeping in this Test has been very poor, so time to bring Bairstow. I predicted a 5-0 whitewash and have seen nothing to change my mind (weather apart)

We just dont have the right players for Australia

I still cant wrap my head around the bowling options, its not just the low 80s pacers but they offer absolutely nothing its all short rubbish and I still cant laughing at Stokes being given no slips and asked to give them a “barrage” at 120ks... BlushLaughCrazy

If they wanted that option why not drop Woakes (who offers absolutely nothing in Australia) and leave in Wood who can come on for short bursts? I think it was Warne who said that

I know theres a lack of viable options but they could have at least taken a lefty pace bowler, something a bit different

Archer is injured that cant be helped but they could have taken someone that offers proper pace instead of all this seam at 80mph b0llocks, we’ve been hammered 5-0 5-0 4-0 in 3 of the last 4 series in Aus and theyve learned nothing from any of them

It's looking like England are going to have a couple of dead rubbers to experiment, but even then what could they do? I can only think of opening with Butler and Bairstow, and giving them licence to go out and smack it. It might be that we end up 10-2, but that's what we are now, and at least we would taking the game to the opposition. Stokes could do the same. It is pointless him defending just to make 20 or 30. Thinking about it if they are 2-0 they may as well try a more positive approach in the next game.

2-0 means we need to win all 3 Laugh

We could just revert the whole line up, have bowlers batting 1-5 and the batters can be the bowlers, wed do no worse in my opinion
