little bit of rain around but appearing liekly to miss or break up..
Australian weather bureau confidently dismissing it in latest update (5% chance)... |

market either fancying some rain or showing great belief in Eng's top order...

rain still looks unlikely to me..

Just getting it in early before he fails again….
But what’s the point of Burns? I’d rather play Mr.Burns…he’s 5hit Can’t bat can’t catch can’t throw. And looks a reyt f4nny |
|
By:
you might be setting him up for a score with post like that DB !
no, his catching has been pretty horrific not just on this tour...in terms of his place as an opener...not sure we have many obvious options.. his record before this series was adequate (no more tha) but that's true of so many in the current line up.. |
|
By:
Everytime I’ve watched upto now he’s failed
He’s done nowt, and adds insult to injury by throwing the ball 6ft wide for overthrows. Doesn’t matter who you play in his place, they wouldn’t be much worse |

I know your mate WD fancies Crawley out here...not sure I share his faith but has youth on his side at least...

brutal little passage this for England...

well if Eng come out of this only one down they'll have done some job...could not have played out better for Oz...

decent stuff from Richardson first up..

even the forum curse couldn't save Burns...

Useless the lot of them. No guts.

Make your own way home burns you useless ****

A few more can go with him.

The fast bowlers should give the batsmen a right kicking in the changing rooms
It’s been like this for ages, nowt but toil running in all day and the openers have their feet up within the half hour |

weather intervened at just the right time for the benighted Aussies
restricted to a paltry 1st inns total and immediately under the cosh from the England batters flaying their insipid bowling attack |

English batsmen only improve their averages when it rains…while playing Don Bradman’s Cricket on the PS4

is it even a contest any more in any sense...and its no wonder

Backing against England in Australia is a very high interest rate with low risk and matures in 3 days.
Burns needs to go, can’t keep giving people the benefit of doubt. Isn’t Roy available for Test Cricket or is he earning too much in T20 leagues so it’s probably beneath him? |
|
By:
Ali also a huge loss to this Test team, he is a good all rounder.
|
|
By:
Roy rather failed his audition in the last home Ashes...though you could make a case for these conditions suiting him better..
|
|
By:
though not the new pink ball under lights bit...
|
|
By:
it's a bit of classic...better when you're not playing situ currently....we have incredible white ball depth but very little red/pink ball batting quality..
|
|
By:
Is anyone remotely surprised?
We are almost two down before we start. What's happened to the old style crease occupiers? You could change them all, bar Root, and not do much worse. Even doing well Root is hardly managing to inspire them. Is he just captain by default? It is hard to blame the one-day stuff as Australia seem to be able to make the transition. In fact it is about time we gave up on excuses. It is just pathetic full stop. Nobody is talking too much about the bowling, but it is headed up by two pensioners, and we don't have a spinner worth playing. |
|
By:
England doesn't seem able top produce a batsman with the stickability of a Boycott,an Edrich or a Closein a tough situation. Maybe this is partly due to all the varieties of speed cricket in the modern era and batsmen's techniques and mentality hae changed so they find it hard to adjust to the tempo and requirements of the 5 day game.
|
|
By:
So as above why can Australia adjust? Even players like Warner.
|
|
By:
Warner 35 though dd, who's their next red ball opener ? he did an amazing job of transitioning his game enough to woek...a t20 specialist originally even in domestic cricket..
not saying they won't find one but Harris already struggling, Green the new all rounder struggling with the bat... |
|
By:
We’d have been 4 even 5 down if not for the storm
2-0 and theres no way we win 3 sessions much less 3 tests ![]() Cant they just forfeit the rest of the series and save themselves the ball ache of getting hammered by a half ars3d Australia?? |
|
By:
Before I went to bed Stokes was bowling with no slips and was trying to bowl a short pitch barrage at 120ks
![]() If they wanted that as the aussie commentator (think it was Warne) why didnt they drop Woakes instead of Wood? And have Wood bowl in short bursts doing that? We went in with 4 quicks and Stokes being the 5th option ffs Little sense if they wanted an enforcer but only going in with swing and seam mid pacers |
|
By:
They like Woakes at 8 just in case of the remote possibility of a batting collapse. If it was just down to bowling he wouldn't be in the side.
Brentford, I don't know enough about Australian cricket to know who is coming through to replace Warner, but he should be good for a couple more years. More concerned about the England openers. We need to find two of those immediately. |
|
By:
Hameed should be 5 he aint an opener
And Woakes should not be in the squad for a series in Australia, hes an home bowler Anderson and Broad are pretty much finished and should be there, Anderson struggles to play 2 out of 3 series nowadays |
