No Hazelwood a big plus ..some doubt over Warner as well apparently

recent history in d/n's at Adelaide a mixed bag.... India all out for 36 last time (in the day) ...and the game before Oz rattled up 589-3 against a reasonable Pak attack...

England have lost 10 and drawn one of the last eleven in Australia.
I think Australia are beatable but we do not really give our batsmen much( of a chance. We keep picking people with wholly unsuitable technique for Test Cricket. Hameed should have been given an opportunity while Burns and Sibley were turning 30-3 into. habit. I would still bring in Crawley to replace Burns even though he will not have much of a chance. Butler genius of a cricketer though he is at times is not suited to Test Cricket either. Even this is the way I play Bstard is not a natural Test Cricketer although decent enough as a wicket keeper batsman. English batsmen have real difficulty in leaving. That is a fundamental requirement to play at this level particularly on bouncier wickets where you can leave on length. I think the people in charge are at fault though the loss of Jeffrey Archer looks insurmountable |

Warner passed fit and Jhye Richardson in for Hazelwood (injured)
Eng bring in Anderson for Wood...Leach in XII man squad.. |

We’re doomed!
Thank God the Aussies are not that good this time. |
By:
watch them leave out leach now and see it spin square later in the match ! gotta remember at least half the day will be under normal adelaide conditions hot and probably extremely flat first 2 or 3 days anyway
By:
i get the feeling Anderson wants wickets for himself rather than for the greater good.

By:
That is his job!
Take wickets! others are free to join in! |

no cummins cos of covid. smiffy back as captain. certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons

the big lump lay @ 1.66 last evening uk time makes a bit more sense now....

by the sounds of it, was only a couple of tables from taking Lyon and Starc out as well...
By:
took a long time to become common knowledge. must have been doing the rounds first thing this morning UK time

By:
England going be taking another hefty fine and possibly points on over rates again unless Wooty bowls 20 overs a day...
By:
at least bowling 1st and 3rd no proper spinner is less of a problem but really it's beyond absurd that outside asia england have hardly picked a spinner for a couple of years now. you can't expect to win test matches regularly without one. gotta decide on someone and stick with him
By:
yep, doesn't feel a recipe for success...

That is close

Blimey, only just over

Extremely good catch. That doesn't even go down as a chance against many keepers - he's moved two or three metres

bowled well first up Eng..bit unlucky not to get a 2nd wicket...think there was probably a scratch of bat on that ...

Warner 1* off 31 balls...

Side note but strange that Stokes isn't in slips/gully...

Labuschagne joined in - he's 0* from last 24 balls.

Firstly as someone who tried to get Butler arrested for impersonating a wicket keeper that was a great catch.
Loving this from Stokes. Getting into his head! Shame Wood did not okay and a spinner looking at this wicket. Great Test Match in the making |
By:
The difference between the two teams is we would be 40-4 and they are 42-1
I like Marnus and have a grudging respect for the Bogun when he applies himself like this. They do not seemed to be fazed by dot balls |
By:
with Stokes fit enough to bowl might have made more sense to keep Leach in...slower surface not as easy to keep drop kicking him onto the stands
By:
that said all the seamers have bowled decent...
By:
Yes but no but no.
They have not given him a chance. I feel for him really I do but would not play him now. Mason Crane got touted today by an Aussie. Vastly improved? Great session to Australia The scoreboard doesn’t matter if you haven’t lost the game at lunch! Still really angry about England selection last match and decision to bat first. Even amateurs knew better |
By:
We didn’t bowl full enough.......again
By:
Great session, feels like a really tough break for us not to have at least a couple more - early wickets look like they might be crucial.
Lyon will show us how much we needed a spinner. That said, we don't have a Lyon of our own so can understand thinking they're going 'safe' in leaving Leach out. Likely though all it does is compound the selection mistakes of the First Test. |
By:
Clutching at straws - Root is about as good as you get where non-bowlers are concerned.
Almost up with my all-time fave...Graeme Hick. |
By:
Aus will be looking to bat for 5 sessions and insert us in the twilight of day 2 I think
By:
Moen Ali!
All he needed was an arm around the shoulder. Emburey Edmonds Tufnell Giles Titmus Lock Laker Moen took more Test Wickets than all of these bowlers. Just another example of poor leadership and management by England |
By:
They will of course but can they?
Their batting is not great except 3 and 4 and sometimes1. The twilight zone will be interesting tonight. |
By:
Was purely alluding to today's selection options. Love Moeen.
By:
Love them three down at tea, ready for Jimmy.
By:
Root is Ashley pretty decent at times. I wonder how Moen would have done this series. Score some sensational runs at 9 or 10 and probably take a few second innings wickets.
By:
Labuschagne looks completely out of sorts but these guys really know how to tough it out. 30-3 and 40-4 kills me! Leave the ball alone, how hard is it!
