I think the new ball will be more critical. Realistic we need another 300 runs as the pitch is still good. We certainly need to bat time. If they are batting by tea tomorrow it will be game over.

Possible deterioration in the pitch and cloud by mid afternoon Sunday and England have a winning chance to move things quickly. Another 300 seems an awful long way away but staying at the crease is the task in the morning the runs can wait

Well played England. Took guts and a great performance from the two lads. What a cracker of a first test.

you see it a lot a big partnership and then all change next morning especially with the new ball due after 45 mins. india were like 300 for 2 at headingley (?) then bowled out before lunch next day

they're all big sessions but if england could somehow get to lunch 320 for 3 then the pressure would switch somewhat and this australia side not exactly unknown for giving away strong positions

will only be a cracker TMB if Eng can carry on in the same vein for a lengthy period

o/wise will turn into a damp squib and a facile win for your boys

but it has defo lit a torch under the match

which was on cue for a slaughtering

bit colder here than in frigging Brisbane esp in the wee hoursGrin

I want the aussies to win but appreciate guts, stickability and bottle. England have kept themselves in a game they could easily have downed tools on.

I expected them to down tools

If these two are still in at lunch ill believe they dig themselves a draw out of it

I don't think it will be a draw Sont's. Depends on the weather I guess oh and a little matter of us being 58 runs behind and still needing to score perhaps another 300 runs

How good was the little english kid singing the songs of the barmy army. Brilliant and I hope he is an avid cricket fan for many years to come.

Sonts the figures are superb. If it was an english bowler I would be praising him. This is the greatest game on earth. I know you want your team to win and so do I.

Hard cheese on both overnight batsmen. Both missed out on deserved centuries. England still well short of setting Aus even a 150 target. Another 200 from here? These 2 need to see off the new ball. Day 4 wicket.

I think I would have Bstard in the side ahead of Pope at 6. He might become a hood player but clearly not there yet
