Cricinfo reporting the exact same rule as mentioned on here and concluding the only explanation for giving the review back is failure of technology. I suspect instead those on here were right and it was just done as it seems fair even if the rules don't cover it.
FROM CRICINFO: On what grounds that review was reinstated remains, at the time of writing, unclear. The ICC's protocols on the matter state that "an unsuccessful review may be re-instated by the Match Referee at his sole discretion (if appropriate after consultation with the ICC Technical Official and/or the television broadcast director), if the review could not properly be concluded due to a failure of the technology." That would suggest that Srinath felt the error was due to a technological failure rather than human error. |

There are no excuses for the 3rd umpire missing the catch that England were claiming as he needs a period of rest reflection and education at the conclusion of this test, it is unbelievable really a qualified test umpire whilst 3rd umpire can neglect looking properly at Englands claims and you would think the penny might drop with the guy when he sees Joe Root approaching the umpire obviously not happy with the decision from the 3rd umpire.
By:
Wasn't there a review the other day where the 3rd umpire gave separate consecutive decisions on two different aspects of the same LBW?
I don't see why the on-field ump couldn't similarly have asked the third ump to review the later bit of footage separately after he'd ruled on the first bit. |

Trouble is that political correctness ensures a quota system regardless of competence.

Hard to know who is on top until England bat, but you would imagine India would be fairly happy if they can get anywhere near 400. Much depends on Pant.

I assume the roller is depleted uranium.

I really hope a Foakes gets some runs because he is a wonderful wicket keeper. He is also a very good batsman who deserves a run in the side.

Good morning WD

My book needed those 2 wickets, I hope we bat very positively, spread boys have us in for 260.

Morning Richie
I needed those 4 wickets in quick time too! I had 25 unders bets starting at under 348.5 and the bigger ones were at the lower end! The run line was 490 prior to the new ball being taken yesterday and Rohit getting out. Sometimes the market gets it wrong and the experts. Yesterday was one if those days and I took full advantage. I was fully expecting to see England batting yesterday but fir a Rohit masterclass. |
By:
20 wickets to fall today?
By:
Rohit was out after 72 overs at 242 odd for 3, run line was 490!
By:
I think England may fall for under 200 maybe even less than 150 but I think I will wait and see.
By:
Bet365 has it at 264.5
I think under that for sure |
By:
A bit early but I have had a bet for England under 264.5 on Bet365
Looked down leg |

When you lucks out it is out!
Very unfortunate |

I love Ishant ever since I saw him as a 19 yo roughing up Ricky Ponting. He had a rough time a few years back but us now a fine wine like Anderson and Broad

By:
One of those, you’d probably wouldn’t have expected to be given out back in the day.
By:
You’d have the imspectors out if you served up a pitch like this in the championship.
By:
Funny seeing India intimidating a batsman with a 6ft 5 in fast bowler!
By:
It has made for quite exciting cricket though. I like a fat wicket ,yes.f. Something fir everyone one

Doesn't look like young Dan will last very long
By:
^ and he is reputed to be an expert at playing spin!
By:
Can’t be easy. I wonder if Ashwin will start round the wicket
By:
Watch out for Axar Patel, quicker spinner - no time to think, could be lethal on this track.
By:
First one was close
Shirley you have to look at lbw before the catch? |
By:
I thought it hit the pad first but clearly off the bat
By:
Yeah you would expect the sla to come on soon
By:
I thought a catch always overrode an lbw?
By:
As if by magic!
By:
Day 1 6 wickets all day
Day 2 6 wickets in first hour |
By:
Oh my
This is the guy who has just given three Master Classes |
By:
It is also going 2b difficult to score runs!
By:
No respite either Kuldeep waiting in wings, this is as tough as it gets.
