My read of the nod was that the on field umpire told Root it had been checked and Root said fair enough.
So either the on field umpire thought incorrectly that it had been checked. Or the on field umpire still didn't get what Root was asking for. |

Root was explaining to the umpire about what he was actually appealing for, the umpire said something to root and then root seemed happy enough and walked away
