One break may not be enough for Karunaratne. He’s just tried to hook a ball that was too wide of off stump, too short and too quick. Fortunately, because it was all of those things, he missed it by a fair way.

I levelled up for a few quid of green and now I will try some tick nicking over lunch.

I decided to get involved again(this is how i usually mess up). NZ drifting from 1.21 to 1.28 during the break. Had a massive lay at 1.22 and 1.24 which has helped me grow my green. Hopefully will get my 1.29 back matched shortly.

Just some info for you draw backers/layers. There is rain forecast for Wednesday. But with the caveat that those longer term forecasts for NZ/Wellington are often a bit vauge and wrong.

The draw has absolutely dived like a stone in high gravity since lunch. Suddenly I’m green with my lay at 7 hit. That’s absurd. It was 11.5-12 as they walked off. Perhaps they saw off a few overs during the lunch break! Anyway, from disaster to clover for me and I’m going to sleep in a moment so can’t even screw it up with too much more trading.

This actually planned out quite well for me, with some more bets matched while I was asleep, although my green is mostly on the draw so could do with some decent batting and ideally some rain, really. From £2.5k red results; a break even around 12 and Southee beating the bat twice an over though, this is a very heartening escape.

Pitch looks flat and easy for batting. All signs point to NZ getting over 400. I've laid Sri Lanka at 5.7. Did they say something yesterday about it swinging more when the sun was out?

Am a little bit irritated with myself here as my intention had been to buy up some draw and lay off with either a few SL runs or a decent Kiwi start but I misjudged what the market would do overnight and ended up laying off draw green overall rather than buying more up. Oh well, still larger draw green so ought to be content with it coming in rapidly. Just feels like we could see it down at 6 or 7 by lunch if SL get a few more and NZ starts well (I don’t expect SL attack to be effective) or even just if Dickwella can keep going with Kumara for another 8-10 overs.

Which means I’ve nowhere to go trading right now, unless I go against my last trade where I laid draw at 14.5 to buy some up and I dislike doing that fairly intensely.

Yeah, 16 was too high. Not sure when exactly it dropped to 10. I think it's a pretty safe draw back

Bit odd, market behaving like it had priced in SL not being able to take wickets in the draw price but SL out from 6-8.8 or so. I’m quite red on draw now because I keep thinking it will drop.

Couldn’t really ask for much more from the openers for bringing the draw in but it’s not moved. Bit irritating, although obviously okay if it comes in eventually.

I’m tempted to put £3k down at 11 or 11.5 and see if I can drive the draw in. Never tried to bully the market like that before but I do think this is a high price so the right time for that sort of manoeuvre, as hard to get trained without a very unlikely NZ implosion.
Compromised and did a grand at 11s. Probably not enough conviction. |

Hmmm, rapidly found the problem with this: if not wanting to stay in for the long run with yet more money, you have to lay off, which reverses or at least balances back out the market pressure.
