We keep hearing Aus have the best bowling attack going around, I have never been totally convinced that is true. Starc seems to have gone off
|
|
By:
Starc was awful in that spell after the first over. Aus up against the wall already after that first Lyon over

Well done India, lifting the run rate handsomely. This is looking very bleak for Aus and their backers.

Terrible shot from someone who is in and survived the new ball. No wonder his second in just gs average is 8
Have been a big fan of his previously but would have Shaw or Dharwan over him all day long now. He can be weak against pace too. Not good in Aus! |

Would India still aim for a 400 run lead before declaring? Or will 300ish be enough?

By:
This pitch has got better for batting, I think draw is a live runner here unless it deteriorates markedly

MY run rate point was more about you posting its getting easier batting

Pitch just looks very low and slow, Indians will love batting on this.

Would expect at least one of these 2 to make a decent sized hundred, they don't give it away too often

Tried to lay to go red on draw at 5.5, which I thought was crazy short. Will try 5.7. We’ve got 2 days and 10 overs left and India 160 on. The Aussies could last 4 sessions to draw but seems unlikely, especially as may be offered a sniff of a chase and it’s a situation where the draw could readily just die instead.
Got 5.7 and it instantly went to 5.5. Tempted to go redder. Have been sleeping for most of this but lucky enough to wake up at good points to buy draw on a few occasions. |

By:
I don't think it will be a draw but I do think this price is going much shorter
|
|
By:
Actually think I’ll hold fire now. This sort of situation often sees the draw come in even more before it goes out once they start batting for the declaration properly then the side batting last almost always folds anyway.

Kohli not exactly known for positive declarations and runs not going to flow freely with Pujara batting

I was trying for draw at 6.2 then Mrs 'Death woke up and It forked me up. Wasn't sure as Aus were bowling poorly then and the batsmen were in charge. I felt the draw might drop overnight.
This pitch us not easy to bat on particularly fir new batsmen. This is not a draw wicket and if is not getting better! New ball was wasted in helpful overhead conditions, too short and too wide. Look at the amount of maidens bowled by the opening bowlers. Not great bowling but good competent Test batting. India win this easily. No declaration, no draw. I unfortunately backed out of my India green and have small reds on draw and Aus. Was hoping to buy on India wickets. Very poor from Aus today |

Lyon bowled really well to start with then straightened his line by bug that time Kohli was in. Warne was right. He bowled too straight and should have been bowling wide into the rough with a silly mid off. Aus have really screwed themselves today. That said they are still in the game. Thinking about a cheeky Aus back and hope / gamble on a couple of quick wickets in the morning. Rahane was troubled by balls landed in the rough. Even Kohli got out to one when he was playing so well. Indua win this I say again and no chance of a draw or declaration.

Silly mid offs have gone out of the game. Must be stats based. Seems ignorant to me because a player in your eye line changes your shot selection. If you play back to ONE ball because of that fielder, it could be your last ball.
Offies more and more bowl for catches on the leg side which is fine. But bowling a traditional wide of off stump line to get through the gate still makes sense too. |

Have to disagree Whispering, Think India wont want to lose this first game and Australia, imo, wont bat as badly second innings. Long way to go , all three results possible but I think draw is overpriced. Was on at 18s so obviously talking through my pocket but still feel 8/9 is a massive price. PS hope the missus cooked you a good breakfast and was quite while doing so!
