Haven't been watching... Is there any rough for the left handers? Softer ball and Ashwin not as effective, these guys could build a big partnership

maybe not...

It isn't doing a whole lot. A decent should be able to chase this without too much drama... Australia is the problem here, not India. IMO

Even so, it's amusing that people were backing Aus at under 4s to achieve something that has never been done here before.

What were the commies on about then? This is when you appreciate TMS had with their proper stats man.
At least I'm in profit on this game. I can't believe I sold off my draw green at 25 in the Pak/NZ game - all three outcomes traded at 50+ yet I had to take a small loss in the end. I got lucky on one of the Mzansi games though - I'd left up a 1.01 which got matched after which the game flipped whilst I wasn't paying attention, so I didn't trade out of any of it! Only noticed today when I checked my P & L! |

Stats man would have suggested no team has won chasing 320+ here.
But teams have scored more than that and not won here in the last innings. Also plenty of chasing teams won here, scored say 3/182 to win. Point being, unless you have thousands of results, you will rarely have a big sample size of teams chasing ¬320, with 120+ overs to do so. Difference between no team has ever scored 320 in the final innings here, to no team has won chasing that score. That was all. 3/328 was scored here for a draw for example. 5/335 draw. 445 lost. Last game here, sheffield shield, highest score final innings, 5/316. Biggest successful chase to win here, I believe was 5/315. |

Got to be an Indian drift soon.

Ah I see your point - it's like when games end in a draw with wickets in hand and you know that well more could have been scored if time had allowed, or a smaller target was easily reached suggesting a higher target would also have been easily exceeded.
Generally though, these "high target with plenty of time left" situations often seem to trade way too short as if priced for perfection from the openers. And then an early wicket falls and ruins the hope nearly every time. |

Off topic, but does anyone have an audio clip of Bumble's commentary from when Harmison bowled that famously ridiculous first-ball wide?
I just remember Mark Nicholas recounting that Bumble had said sarcastically in his broad northern accent "Normally, when the ball goes to second slip, the bat's involved". Not sure if it had been said on air though. |

Lies, damned lies and statistics!
The pitch is dry underneath but well grassed and it is holding it together. The ball has been spinning out of Mitchell Starcs foot holes where his spikes have ripped out the grass. They are not on the half volley but a good length and perfect for an off spinner to a right hander wide of off stump and perfect to angle in from wide of the crease. The history of scores on drop in pitches here do not necessarily reflect the nature of this pitch. This is a particularly awful Aussie batting line up. Their bowlers dud not fake advantage of the new ball and they will pay the price for letting India post a target in excess of 250. It was game over for me after the new ball lost it's shine day 3 and Lyon did not fake full advantage of the rough. Aus could have been right in this game but fceked it up imho. India did not have any of the bad luck they had in England but should consider themselves a little lucky to be in a winning situation. |

Kane & Henry Nicholls delivered a sensational partnership a few days ago, something as 1/2 as good from these 2 might deliver a flip.
