Interested to see the pitch, only two draws in 15 years at OT & both of those were rain affected.

Looks like a draw lay at 3.5, as we should see some action for the first three days.
Good enough for me. |
|
By:
Draw starting to look short now, especially with the collapses we have seen in the series so far
|

draw just went 3.5 to 3.25 and out to 3.75 in 20 mins, now 3.6, bbc have some improved weather for first 2 days (tho theyre on their own there) but Monday / Tuesday still look bleak - is the fact SA are not interested in a draw a factor ?

BBC weather is about as reliable as BBC news.

Forecast was slightly worse when I went to bed. We can count reverse swing out anyways http://d2s3dt9f4iyeup.cloudfront.net/images/standard_v1/187b5da2-2f00-43f1-b00c-b6f456c8430e.jpg

Yeah I know didn't work, just a picture of lots of puddles on the outfield at Old Trafford.

Wet outfield could be a problem although with only showers forecast for the first few days and not that many even of them on latest Met office update, shouldn't really affect play much. I'm trying to play with some draw fluctuations but am essentially very red on it. No matter how wet the last couple of days might be (and the forecast could easily be pessimistic), think there's a very decent chance that won't matter, or at least that the draw will trade long enough at some stage that the risk is fairly low.
Is true that England would play a conservative game with declarations if it got to the stage where that might matter but England's actual batting tends to be aggressive and indeed not all that good a lot of the time anyway so unlikely to be that much of a factor. |

2 closely matched sides, who have be thrashing each other, so who knows what this final Test will bring.
|
|
By:
I don't think a wet outfield will be a problem before day 4. Not that I am saying it will be on day 4, but it might.
Friday starts humid, so the ball should swing first session. |

I've never worked a test match pregame trading as well as I have done here.
could not do this for a test match outside of England or Wales, just checking the met office every waking hour for the last 4 days did it ....and probably a bit of luck. draw looks too short now. |

^checking met office every hour of every waking hour for last 4 days that is ^

Forecast has taken a massive turn for the worse day 1 & 2
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcw25uekz#?date=2017-08-04 Rain today and tomorrow forecast. The most important thing is there is heavy rain forecast at 10/11 am when the tv comes on, amazing how that affects the market. |
|
By:
just cleaned up all the draw down to 3.1

The outfield could well become an issue through the game

Remember this from 2014 v India OT after heavy rain on day 2 of the test. |

Radar looks clear, very strange from the met office

met office changes significantly ever hour, going to be a bumpy ride

fcuked that trade up, forecast looks fine again! Had to bail at 3.4/3.5
|
|
By:
I got a draw lay at 3.05, back at 3.35 in.
|
|
By:
Looks pretty clear today, to me. Met office seems pretty bullish all test, now, although still some suspicion of dodgy weather last couple of days. Think this draw is crazy low but have had an awful lot of it already, some with trades back.

Fair enough. I was asleep! Guess the point isn't that a sharp shower would necessarily have even delayed the start but it would have freaked the market out. The market is always very jittery about showers when the overall forecast is dodgy.

Moved my draw back at 3.8 out of the way as pretty sure we'll see the 4s before play.

Not that I was looking at the satellite then, to be fair but there's very little now.

Had literally 2p of my 4.1 draw back matched now draw back down 3.6. Shouldn't have been so greedy with it and could have had another trade.
|
|
By:
After the first session should be good for batting for 3 days. Then showers/rain. Early days, but with decent batting first innings, draw looks a runner.
|
|
By:
Pitch been under covers, lots of moisture, overhead cloudy, could be a bowling day!!

Will this be the first time a test player has bowled at an end named after him?

Im out of my draw lay now. Problems with the outfield give me cold sweats!

Im hoping not to trade much and get a chance to back the draw after early wickets. Hope it materializes. See you guys in the evening. Ciao.
