Steyn had great fitness most of his career. I feel he's gone now. Should retire as he is not good enough in other formats and dont see him coming back in tests after this fracture.
By:
He shouldn't have been playing white ball cricket
By:
Yes he's crap in white ball.
By:
AB had same problem, went and played CPL when he was injured, hasn't been fully fit since

Steyn injury looks so innocuous

Still got a horror position in the market but it has slightly improved, if the draw somehow comes into play (and I don't know how) could come out unscathed.
By:
If I had kept the horror position I had exactly 24 hours ago I would now be in clover :-(
By:
I kept my horror position and decided to not wake up for the game. Woke up at SA 29-0
By:
Shame about Steyn, but I am starting to like SAF a lot for this. Was not expecting the Aus collapse, but perhaps not a real surprise in hindsight. Like others, I'm in a poor position.
By:
big loss steyn out for the series, will bat only if absolutely necessary

By:
Im nearly out of the sh1te. With faff Booma and the **** to come i reckon the saffers can get a 300 lead. It will then depend on getting warner early. Shame about steyn. Saffers price is being held up by his injury imo.

By:
Weren't SA reduced to 10 men in the first test the last time they came to aus?
By:

By:
I'm as green on SA as red on Aussies (very nice green on draw but discounting that). Stating the obvious but so far wickets early morning and then runs scored as day goes on. If that pattern follows on then Aussie odds drop dramatically. Not sure what to do made worse by not being up until most of the innings has gone.
By:
Perhaps not a bad position Charlie with Aussies batting last. Dangerous to leave open bets on overnight matches as I've found to my cost. Have been toying with backing SAF since the draw has gone but haven't made up my mind. So many surprises and the match is only two days old that I'll probably leave it alone.

04 Nov 16 07:28 WD must've headed to wetherspoons for early refreshments You might think so but I couldn't possibly comment !Actually I am a little offended by that. Frugal I may be but cheap? Never! I demand you retract that statement! |

Very hard to call this game. Some people seem to be Adam Ant about what will happen but I am no longer sure.
I retain my original position and am Aus lay 1.53 SA back 4.54 ![]() Draw back 7.57 I cannot see it being a draw for the life of me as we have 3 days to go! I shall leave it onside however as quite frankly anything it would appear can happen. To be a draw SA would need to bat well into the 4th day and Aus would need to be fighting a rear guard on a difficult wicket on day 5. I just cannot see this happening although there is a chance SA may be batting on the morning of the 4th day ( I wish ). I am leaving my money where it is. That is a big risk for the morning session where wickets seem to be falling but Elgar and Duminy looked to be confident. Aus did not bowl well in the last hour. Siddle was bowling below 130 clicks. I don't know, I really don't! |
By:
Ashley just cleared my Aus red by laying SA at 2.04
I can buy SA back, even if it will cost me but erring on the safe side first up. Can buy back SA on the fall of each wicket too. I think SA are in a very good position to take the win but obviously vunerable to an assault by Starc in the morning and Warner later. Smith will also come after Maharaj infact I think they all will. This will be exciting but if the pitch starts to give assistance might be gloriously suicidal! Can't wait for more! I don't like cricket, I love it! |
By:
Im going to tough it out with my pre toss Aus lay, i think SA are in a good position, run lines suggest Aus will be set around 300 which will be a tough ask especially if Warner goes early.
i wonder what the market would look like if Steyn wasnt injured?? |
By:
From a pure trading view, backing Aus at these odds is the value.
The reason I say this is that even if SA make 350, Aus's odds will still only be about 2s/evens. Therefore you have a free bet all the way to 350 and if they only get 250, you have a profit. I can't see them making a massive score as they have scored pretty slowly. Reverse swing is close and then a new ball in 40 overs. They will probably be about 225 at that point. Without Steyn, SA will struggle to defend 300/350 I know they did it in the first inns, but Aus will have had time to reflect on that and change their approach. |

I agree with the first half Juce. I think the arithmatic make an Aussie back prudent as there seems to be plenty of support for their current price.
My own view though is they are on the edge of a beating. The pitch looks pretty good particularly if you are positive. I think SA will bat positively and the pitch will be good tomorrow. I have a feeling Aus will bat in a cavalier fashion and if there is any help from the pitch that will be their undoing. They must go after Maharaj and Duminy and wear down Big Phil and Rabadabadoo but Saffers are tough. I think it is prudent not to have an Aus red first up but after Starc and Hazlewood have bowled 4 or 5 overs each I am switching back to SA if no wickets have fallen and I may buy SA on the fall of wickets in chunks after that. I do think Warner and even Smith could play a big innings but I do not rate the rest of them too much but they are at home so have that advantage. Good luck Dan. I am looking to lay Aus at odds on but when and how much is the question! |

Yes, Starc in particular was thinking with his dicke!
usually overseas bowlers get carried away with the bounce and bowl short. Aus should have known to bowl a good length! You are still favouring Aus? SA have 100 on the board. Warner said the crack wasn't a problem! We shall see. I do think they might have tried too hard with the pitch so it might brak up. It looks very fair on top but dark underneath so maybe the top will come off, I don't know but while it is still there it looks ok to bat on for me. There has been some poor batting and good bowling. I got half tempted to lay Aus back at evens but will back off for at least first half an hour or 45 mins. |
