Lyth shells regulation slip chance 53-2. Just poor.
By:
Two balls later, Rafiq drops sitter at backward point. Pathetic.
By:
this is a beautiful own goal by middlesex
![]() they should have produced the flattest deck they could and if somerset win then yorkshire would need to win too hence the game can get fruity at the back end if somerset don't win play for out for a draw on a flat deck play on a seaming track and predictably get inserted and then lose a clatter in the 1st session OH MY ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Think I read somewhere that Middlesex had to change the pitch they were going to use because of Skys late decision to televise the game, dont think they had much pitch preparation time
By:
tom this match has been an obvious title decider for weeks if not months, its the only game sky would be covering
![]() |
By:
Originally they werent going to televise any of them
By:
really??
I thought sky always do 2 championship games, 1 early season and 1 back end when the championship is being decided |
By:
yeah, caused a bit of ruckus on social media about sky not caring about county champs
By:
wasn't aware of that tom, I think that's fair criticism
all about T20 and little else, pity |
By:
decent effort by middlesex to limit the damage to 3
pretty even morning |
By:
good contest this
By:
yes 154-5 yorkshire's day so far but still early days, zum going well
![]() |
By:
wouldn't be very confident on yorkshire getting many. a weak looking batting line up for this match
once somerset get past 350 and win that takes the draw out of the equation for middlesex although it looks pretty much a non runner anyway |
By:
dropped again fck off
![]() you don't deserve to win |
By:
could be batting now if they'd taken all their chances
By:
yorks will be hoping to bat in sunshine tomorrow
By:
yes, on a pitch flattening out
good little partnership this for middlesex, they will be eyeing up 300-350 now having looked on for fewer earlier in the day |
By:
Middlesex get 320 would make them favs
By:
if somerset look like winning later in the match yorkshire will be out of it unless they can match somerset's batting points. that should make it easier for middlesex to win
By:
off poor light
By:
somerset already have 3 batting points, look certain for 4 and could possibly could get all 5
that is a spanner in the works for yorkshire and potentially middlesex as well if yorkshire don't match them, they could play spoiler ![]() |
By:
having said that, 2 quick wickets for notts so 5pts looking unlikely now
By:
3 quick wickets
![]() |
By:
32/1
33/2 302/3 308/4 322/5 322/6 322/7 |
By:
gotta make certain of 350 now. yorkshire will do well to match that and win on the evidence of today's play
By:
322/8 wowzers
![]() |
By:
agree mafe, will be hard for yorks if zum make 350 but 3 batting points if a different ball game, especially if sun out tomorrow and both teams wanting a result out of the match could be some creative declarations...alex lees bowling etc
cant wait lol |
By:
322/9 omg
By:
close of play taunton 322/9
lords probably kaput as well |
By:
zum will probably still win this by an innings or a big runs margin - 200 been a good score in recent games at taunton - but only 3 batting points does open the door ajar for yorkshire a little
even if things goes well you'd think it would still take them to nearly the close on day 3 to bowl out middlesex and get at least 300 |
By:
yorkshire have a new ball so conceivably will bowl middlesex out in 40 overs ish
if they are getting 300 they will have it by tea on day 3 imo assuming no rain delays or off for any bad light then its likely the captains have a chat at tea imo its all beautifully poised ![]() see you tomorrow mafe if you're about |
By:
looks a very tight betting heat after today's play something like 7/4 zum 15/8 middlesex 5/2 yorks
By:
How are teams separated in the final table if they finish on the same points?
By:
somerset would have the tie breaker in both cases - by more wins than middlesex and fewer losses than yorkshire
By:
Cheers.
By:
could some real fun and games on thursday afternoon if it looks somerset are gonna win
say middlesex are bowled out for 320 and they have yorkshire 250 for 7 it would not really be in their interests to stop them getting 300 so do they bring on the joke bowlers ? would the umpires even allow that to gift the opposition a bonus point ? one thing doing it to set up a declaration game this would be quite another |

He's a cheating prick I think you'll find the correct phrase in the context of Andrew Strauss is "absolute c^nt". Hildreth was a genuine hero with his runner at Taunton yesterday. You felt his pain every time he drove a single and had to face the trek to cover point again. Hard to say just how hard it was to bat in general on the pitch there, because Imran Tahir was truly awful - the worst front-line bowling I have ever seen in a first-class match. You know how Adil Rashid serves up one lousy long hop every over? Well, Tahir was doing that every ball. Zum on the other hand have Leach, who by a million miles is the best spin bowler in English cricket right now, Jeetan Patel included, as he demonstrated in the last game at Taunton. |
