I suppose it depends on who the ECB want to win it - the CC is their plaything - they decide which player plays and when they play
If the ECB want Yorkshire to win it then they may allow Yorkshire to play some of their England players I was at a Lancashire game earlier in the season when the ECB pulled Jimmy Anderson out of the Lancashire side after 2 days but let Ben Stokes play all 4 days and he ended up winning the game for Durham. Lancs may actually be relegated as a result |

Root and Bairstow def out - our other 3 England players they are still considering .
By:
suppose one thing is middlesex's favour is that they can decide what sort of pitch they need for the last game. a greentop if they have to win or an absolute road if a draw will do and mick hunt sure knows how to prepare a flat one if he has to
By:
wouldn't surprise me if Lancs prepared a flat one at Old Trafford next week as a draw will see Lancs safe

OT pretty much a road these days toffee? Particularly those near the centre. V poor showing at the Oval the other week
By:
poor all season
No investment in the squad - more interest in hosting concerts and KSL franchise than the 1st team Although not been helped by the Buttler situation who remarkably is considered 100% fit for international duty after 8 weeks without any cricket |

Think it will go to last game and with home advantage just favour Middx but would not wager on it. No Bairstow or Root for Yorks. Also tight at the bottom.
Hants have big final game against Durham which they will have to win. |
By:
good points toffee remember that game think it was at Southport. Yorks have done ok without Root and Bairstow and at times without 3 more but any of the others being made available would be a big boost to their chances.
By:
Mafeking if Middlesex produce a green top wicket with the new toss regulations surely Yorks would invite them to bat first on it .
By:
Both win 2 matches to go
By:
chance for middlesex to more or less wrap it this week with the yorkies currently being destroyed by zummerzet

when joyce doesn't play (and when joyce and nash don't put on a decent opening stand) sussex look a woeful batting team even by div 2 standards, they are making worcestershire look like world beaters which they are far from
and as for yorkshire I cannot find the words to explain how and why they've lost this game thought they were massive value @ 4/7 how wrong I was ![]() ![]() 3rd consecutive championship over I'm afraid many dual winners of the championship in recent times but that 3rd championship just seems to be 1 step too far in the modern era |
By:
perhaps dizzy should have kept his trap shut about leaving until the end of the ssn, I suspect that has had a part to play
By:
lanky making a real fight of it after being 6/4. won't be easy for middlesex to force a win from here
could be a real 3 way battle in the last round |
By:
could be mafe but I bet that lords pitch next week will be as flat as keira knightly's chest
By:
good finale likely next week .Somerset have chance now as well
By:
interesting scenario assuming middlesex don't win tomorrow
obviously a draw in their last match will see off yorkshire but would leave the door open for somerset at home to relegated notts. however somerset's recent home wins have been 2 day games on absolute bunsens to help jack leach but now they will probably need to score at least 300 first inns and win to have a realistic shout will surely have to be some sort of result pitch at lords. can't rely on somerset not beating notts |
By:
I think they will prepare a good pitch as middlesex will want batting bonus points as well, there is always scope for the game turning funky at the back end if somerset look like winning at notts
![]() looking forward to it |
By:
let us hope weather stays fair, Yorks still have a chance which they probably thought had gone yesterday .
By:
Middlesex Draw with decent bonus wins title.
Yorkshire need to win and should declare early. Somerset should win but need bonus points which wont be easy. Middlesex/Yorkshire match surely a back to Lay the draw. Lay to Back Somerset to title |
By:
so basically Somerset need to get more points than Yorkshire and Yorkshire have to win for them

Why are Midd/York markets suspended?

Yorks team looks pretty weak for them, Bresnan at 5?!

Where is Bairstow?

Had hoped there would be some liquidity for this match, not looking good

Me too with it being live on sky

Strauss wouldnt let Bairstow play, cue Middx conspiracy theories
