i was just thinking maybe you were taking the michael, it went straight over my head. i'll get my coat Laugh

how do you see this going from here? i think the saffers are shot and will struggle to get a score even if the pitch looks good at the moment.

"England scored 196 in 25 overs in that session. Ben Stokes scored 130 in that, the most by a batsman in a pre-lunch session in a Test.

"The most scored in any session is 173 by Denis Compton against Pakistan at Trent Bridge in 1954."

that must have been something very special by DC having witnessed this.

Why are they talking about a declaration, England don't want to bowl more than 20 overs today.

If England bowl only 20 overs today, Stokes would have passed Lara's record by then.

Really can't see England declaring for a while.  You're entitled to bat for at least 6 sessions in a 15-session game and we only need 1 session for a second innings to give the quicks a rest.

I'm also for Declaring later rather than sooner, all that time toiling in the hot sun will be Demoralising for Saffers.  Let them Bake!

there is an absolutely absurd amount of time left in this game because of the way these two have gone.

there is no point in declaring this session.
By:

When: 03 Jan 16 12:01
I wouldnt think of declaring with these two in, imagine what a 300 would do for Stokes self belief or a 200 for jonnys

(unless they get to 700 before tea, then maybe stick em in for a couple)

get 700+ and it could finish SA for the series

England should go for 800 total lol

The reason why England will never become a champion side is because of this nonsense. When the Ashes in Australia came, they had no clue how to play test cricket. When the World Cup arrived, they sent a test team. Now that they are playing such an important test series, they are giving priority to T20 preparations. Hmm..

Swag,

Hard to say how it will go. The nightmare is that the pitch is a cracker. There is no reason thus far even with their batting that they cannot get 400 in 4 sessions. That takes us to end of play day 3 and possibly 3.5 sessions for England to bowl SA out so now we are depending on pitch breaking up.

I think we need to split the profit and that is why I heavy green draw right now. The pitch was rolled and swept and has not showed any devil except for good bounce.

The big danger for me is a couple of quick SA wickets but draw is at last moving down now so I am approaching an exit and sit back and enjoy the cricket point! SA could also get skittled in this sort of situation but I think even van Zyl can get runs on this!

other than that they're not too bad tho'

agreed johnny, from last night this is now over half a day's play. great for all the england fans out there.

i'm struggling to resist the urge to go balls deep on england, our price is on the drift a bit again. they havent got past 250 in ages and we have a well balanced attack. could one of the wise ones help tell me why it would be wrong to tuck in?
