I cannot find a 1st session runs total, obviously the 3rd session gets runs with the extra 12 hr

Draw and ENgland price stagnant despite all this. Its all about how SA bat in their first innings now.

When: 03 Jan 16 10:11
England price still artificially high.
With such a high score in the offing, they should be a 1.3 shot.

When: 03 Jan 16 10:12
yeah, cpl of early wkts Eng price will tumble
solid start from SA draw price will do the same

wow. i know the bowling's been awful but that's just an amazing display. that must leave deep scars on the saffers. the pitch looks flat now but i wouldnt be surprised to see south africa struggle in their first innings.

Because these 2 are scoring so quickly, obviously Bairstow, just doing the holding job, everybody assumes, its an easy track to bat, its not too hard at the moment, but will get worse. Ben Stokes a magnificent display of batting.
By:

they will keep batting, more than 3 and a half days left with no weather problems.

just scored 196 in 25 overs this morning that is crazy, if they 1/2 in pace they would be 600+ by tea, SA will bat at less a hour today, thats if they don't bowl Eng out

700dec with 15 or 20 overs in the 3rd session to bowl at SA.
I hope this is how Cook goes.
By:

When: 03 Jan 16 10:37
cricketnut, we've all seen it before, one team scores loads so everyone thinks the pitch is a road but when the next lot bat scoreboard pressure and better bowling makes it look like a different pitch.

i feel for amla, he seems like a decent bloke but he's a worse captain than cook was at his lowest. i know his top 2 bowlers arent playing but even so his decisions have been extremely poor.

what a result for all the travelling england fans.

SA 25'sConfused, if ENG get bowled out in the next 30mins (unlikely looking at the SA attack) and SA went at a similar rate (again unlikely), that would take up to the end of day 3 early day 4, they would then need to bowl Eng out in a day to chase down total on day 5???? thoughts

Be very exciting and good for my book if both of these come off together, a monster stand scored in quick time.

Was more a wish not an expectation.

Saffers already in low spirits with on and off-field issues are gonna be mentally exhausted, gonna take a huge task to bat a long time here.

I read some comments about Stokes on this thread earlier. I didn't realise his record was so mediocre but there is a reason why he is in this side. I wouldn't rule him out of getting. 5 for either. Normally you'd expect an all rounder to bowl 10 to 15 overs an innings and contribute some runs. I have said before I think he is good enough to bat at 3 and would have put him there to give him some responsibility and see how he reacted.

Having him and Ali in the same team has given England an exciting dimension. He is useful when the ball is reversing as he carries enough speed. If he an Ali can improve their skill set in their bowling, England could be just as exciting anywhere in the World. A 4th seamer of his Kwality is not just potent but attritional in a long series. SA are 2 bowlers down and I am not convinced Morkel does not have a side strain.

His omission from the World Cup sums up what a shambles the management of our game was. Add Finn into that mix and here we are.

Compton's place in the team must be under threat (

I am still big on the draw here. I shall stick with it for a while. Cleared SA red. Just hoping draw gets close to evens later today to boost England green a bit

England have scored too quickly, have 5 main bowlers and Root, against an out of form side with little or no believe.

jolly my bad my point wasn't clear,i've got a big lay on SA @3.6 and wondering what point i clear my red??

When: 03 Jan 16 11:14
wd there's 450 overs in a test with, so many dashers there should be room for a couple of blockers in the england team. besides compton was vital in the first test when we were in trouble.

saffers batting is weak, its dangerous to assume draw will come in imo.
By:

the draw is easing somewhat now
probably coming to the realisation SA batters are unlikely to be able to save this esp the more Eng press on
