Laugh!

It should be a great batting day!  England may well bat well in the second innings today to try and right the wrongs by playing themselves in.  That is why I think Clarke might just tell his boys to belt it around and hope the pitch deteriorates. Smash 200 odd in 35 / 40 overs.

I know an opening partnership is beyond England but whenever Aus have had a decent opening stand they have gone on top score ( or it seems that way to me ). It is too easy to say 1 + 1 = 2 ( but it does! ). I am not sure I would enforce today and ordinarily I am not against it.

but then England can't really win from here so they might as well enforce.

If the Eng tail manage to bat 20 overs (a big IF) it gets very interesting with the the weather in prospect.

australia will not enforce follow on cause there is a unlikely threat of England getting big total of 500 and this will bring draw into play
By:
slip5
When: 22 Aug 15 11:18
australia likely to bat 50 overs today to set 550 total

You are laughing now but when England rack up 500 plus 2nd innings you will start blaming lehman and clarke for to decision to enforce follow on, when the aus fast medium bowlers are struggling

strangely. I would have considered batting on. I have doubts as to whether Enlgand can play Test Match Cricket. They ought to be able to bat all day today and some tomorrow!

unless you have a world class attack you should not enforce follow on

lyth played because he was from yorkshire ccc, where most appear to get an extended run Shocked, there are much better openers on the county circuit, for instance Hales !! how on earth bairstow keeps getting in, i will never know Shocked, having said that england have won the ashes, more to do with Australia not even turning up !!

everything will be glossed over because we won the ashes
technically we did but more by luck than design with some sh*te selection choices which Stevie W could see were palpably wrong
if this series were being played out in top business
the courts would be replete with cases of malpractice
far from being the archetypal enemy in this series the aussies have been absolute bosom buddies
Root has shone..i like Stokes also tho' he can try and be the hero a tad too much
Broad had one unbelievable egregious spell..Finn deserves kudos
other than that..they don't impress me much(apologies to Shania Twain)

1) Eng could bat for an hour+

2) Clarke may not enforce

3) Eng may follow on but get to 100-1

Well that didn't work so it's over to plan B.

1) The Spanish plume. Cool As has been pointed out, it's on its way. Rather like Wellington at Waterloo, hold fast men, the Prussians are coming!
