Depends on how much response Lyon, gets from the surface and Peter Siddle will also be a danger, I think England have an awful lot to do in this Test, even with that excellent morning, behind them. Lets see

what transpires is very much predicated on how eng bat..if they bat half well should more or less be a nailed on draw but don't hold your breath

Draw odds way too big at this point.  Closing in on tea day 2, should be odds on...  Please soon...BlushBlush

At the start of the England innings when Cook goes out to bat you can be sure the odds for a draw will shorten rapidly.

Got lays sprinkled down.  2600 draw, 1400 loss other 2 results.  Not much but playing it safe...  Just need draw price to dump now to be even safer...

It's fairly low already considering it's only day 2. Will only shorten considerably more if England bat well.

Well obviously, because if England bat well, it means day 3 still first innings..  ffs  Tell us something big ffs

ok, I've won something like 10 bets in a row. That's big.

Draw layers banking on a declaration soon I feel.  Not sure it happens considering recent batting history and the state of the series

extremely easy paced wicket. As long as England don't try and force the pace they should be batting late into Saturday.

Rain threat looks like dissipating. May have to look at some options later in the day. Staying on the draw for now.

can anyone tell me if there is an official rule for the umpires going upstairs for a no ball after a wicket or is completely random? Surely a no brainer to check Finn everytime he gets a wicket??

cheers

Without looking, I thought the rule was only use the 3rd ump when a review is called for.  But clearly I am overthinking it.

Bit deeper on the draw now....  Looking for a few more runs and at least a 20 run opening partnership from England and should see odds on...

don't like saying it but aussies have a fair few runs in the bank..going to be tough to see them not winning this
gut feeling does not trust the Eng batting

Tomorrow should be an excellent day for batting so I'm sticking with the draw too for now. The rain threat for Sunday seems to have dissipated but could still lose some time on Monday.

How much will England come in should they bat well today and tomorrow morning?

Is it worth a speculative punt, buy and lay back?

no balls for fast bowlers needs to be delegated to the third umpire.

plenty of time to check as they walk back to their mark.

only people who it disadvantages are the scorers.

3rd umpire should be looking over everything with control on the game IMO....
By:

When: 21 Aug 15 15:23
broadly agree, so long as there is a window for the third umpire to check something without interrupting the game,
By:
BJT
When: 21 Aug 15 15:24
Surely there is enough time between balls to suggest to the controlling umpire whether something needs to be checked.

This whole I call bullshit on you umpire, let us check, needs to go....

They have come in from 15 to about 8 already today. There is scope for a bit more but their chances of a win are not great even if they get somewhere near the Aus total because of the time factor and batting last.
Might be a worthwhile trade in it for some but not for me.

not sure.

i like the fact that on field umpires are still the authority, the people who need to be falsified with conclusive evidence, rather than being a mannequin with a mouthpiece relaying decisions from the back room.

changing that does nothing to enhance or maintain their authority and respect in games where the technology and the backroom staff aren't available.

my big problem with the no-balls is that not calling them disadvantages both the bowlers and batsmen alike and it's a matter of a simple replay to check.

Traded out for now.  Up to 744 either result....  Nearly pays for the psis I have consumed doing it.  ffs

Good result BJT. My book has just gone into the black for the first time since play started. Still more worrying to do for me before this match is done.

Have no problem with the on fielders calling at as they see it.  But now every catch is reviewed for a no ball.  Why?  Why not everything else?

Video watchers can easily call back an "iffy" decision if it should occur.

They do it for catches, basically all of them.  They do it for boundaries.  Why put it in the hands of the teams to call for wickets and create a new strategy?

3rd umpire is basically in charge checking everything now, except for no balls when no catch is involved.  Just that most of the time it is at the direction of the players disputing the on field umpire, which goes against everything anybody is ever taught about questioning the umpires...

On a brighter note, good timing on the tradeout...  LoveLove

Yeah, been a tough month, so any profit is good here.  Think I have made around 8 bucks (before yesterday) since the 24th July.   Had some good months before that, but still, amazing how you doubt yourself after 1 bad day, let alone a bad month....

Far from an amazing result here, but still got me smiling all the same....  Maybe it is just the booze..  ffs  BlushBlush

Decided to level out for now as another couple of wickets could do a lot of damage and the potential upside is not worth it.
Have made good money over this series BJT just a bit nervous about spoiling things now.

Yeah tough call.  Bowlers well on top for the series, so I certainly don't wish to have a position at the moment on what looks a batting delight.  Give it a few overs and let the market decide.

Done fcuk all this series.  Timing pretty bad, games mostly over before I could get involved, but still 2300 up before this game so can't complain too much.

Hope you made plenty.  Looks like there could be better options this game to get involved now, so sit tight and hook in when required.  Don't give it back without a plan....  Happy
