Brave sideshow. Well played.

5 completely one sided test matches in the ashes, is becoming all to familiar, it has been very thin on trading opportunities all summer !!!

well an unexpected weekend off

By:
this never used to happen did it? i can barely remember it happening before ever. once in a blue moon. yet this series, every other ball is a frickin no ball. or would be if they called them.

By:
there has been four no ball wkts today including the India test

Bit harsh Johnny..

The 'coaches' are shown up for that they are.
They can't even get their bowlers to bowl legal deliveries. |

By:
that cant be good for ya, sitting in front of a great big statallite dish? if a phone next to your ear for 10 minutes is bad...

By:
not really.Injera..no excuse irrespective of having won the Ashes
i'm not talking thru my pocket or anything..haven't had a penny on had a gut feeling this would happen but unimpressed nonetheless just as a brit |
By:
i think on this occassion the follow-on will be enforced
By:
whens the next ashes?
By:
Sport does this. It's not science.
That ball comes down at you and for some reason you make the wrong choice. A truly bizarre series probably affected by one day cricket. Batsmen can't occupy the crease like the old days. It's very poor I agree. But, it's just a game and we love it. ![]() |

non triers, playing against an Aussie team desperate to restore some pride !!!

By:
Ball going through the top? I'm not watching, just listening on tms. Tuffers keeps on about it!
By:
through the top of what?
![]() anybody betting on test match ending on days 1,2,3 at fancy prices will have a new yacht by now. not me unfortunately, i used to bet on it too. |

(not bowling no balls) its something we work hard on. yes...course it is...

3 days test matches not great for the sport in general as all revenue streams are badly affected, that in turn causes a lack on of investment in the grass root of cricket !!! English test venues have lost 100s of thousands of pounds via decreased gate recipients and merchandise sales

By:
maybe a small price to pay for winning the ashes !!!
By:
Happy that I dodged a bullet there.Too much tinkering but no damage.
Shameful display by England in good batting conditions. Nothing wrong with the pitch where the opposition has just made nearly 500. Thought they might be two or 3 down by the close but not a total collapse. Might as well throw in the towel now and have the weekend off. |
By:
surely the shortest ashes series since the 19th century when there were some real low scores. hard to imagine there's been a shorter one. around 15 full days cricket if england can't survive tomorrow
been great viewing at times if you're english but the quality of the batting has been desperately low with 1 or 2 exceptions |
By:
The batting on both sides has been so bad, its been unbeleivable, another 3 day, possibly less, Test Match.
By:
Everyone seems to be assuming Australia will enforce the follow on. When was the last time this happened?
By:
clarke's never enforced it but with a lead of 350 and rain possible on days 4 and 5 hard to see why you wouldn't
By:
They will enforce the follow on, as the forecast is not good, for Sunday or Monday
By:
Also it is not like the bowlers would be tired. Enforcing the follow on would be the logical decision
By:
personally i dont see why they would enforce it.
the forecast is for a chance of a few showers, not a downpour or anything like. if they bat again, it would probably take them about an hour of thrashing it around before they can declare anyway. its not like the series is at stake, theyd be more than happy to set england around 420 to win. more chance of bowling a team out if they have a target to attempt. |
By:
I initially thought no follow on, but an innings defeat of England will be something for Clark to take from his last match.
By:
Clarke had the option of enforcing in the 2nd test with a lead of around 250 about half an hour after tea on day 3 but didnt. With England's innings likely to end before lunch on day 3 there is much more time left in this test. Even if Australia get bowled out for 100 in the 2nd innings England will likely be looking at a world record chase in the 4th innings.
By:
It seems to me speculating on the possible follow on is a little pointless. I can't see England batting on much this morning. I think Claeke has enough time to kead his team to victory whichever way he goes!
By:
Not pointless if you have bet on test match end as I have Whispering Death. I will be hoping for a day 4 for that reason and also because the longer the match goes on the more betting opportunities.
By:
Declaration makes a difference to the likelyhood of a draw. If Aus don't enforce the follow on and bat say 45 overs, England batting until the rain comes Sunday is a realistic proposition, then the draw is right in play.
By:
Just had a small lay of Australia. Who knows what follies might ensue enabling a profitable trade (or not).
Has a little potential and not big enough to hurt if it comes to nothing. |
By:
Indeed Foinavon.
You have plenty of possibilities in your favour. 1) Eng could bat for an hour+ 2) Clarke may not enforce 3) Eng may follow on but get to 100-1 |
By:
Should be an interesting first session. Both these teams are accident prone so am hoping for a few more twists and turns.
By:
when do we foresee the England declaration?
