there is a fear, however, that the boggy areas - and they really are in very poor condition - might render play difficult on day three, even if Manchester enjoys a dry night. From cricinfo. Im summising from this that they will probably play tomorrow but any decent amount of rain on sunday will have a big impact on monday. can they adjust the boundaries once play begins? This could turn into a bit of a farce |

No jucel, I don't believe they can adjust the boundaries once the match has begun. They would surely have done so rather than abandoning play for the day had they been allowed to do that. Apparently the problem in that area was caused partly because it was the lowest part of the ground, so even if they try to protect that area with covers, you would assume that any further rain is going to find its way to the lowest part of the ground. Have to say, it looked a real mess.

The crowd were turning pretty ugly this evening. If they cannot get it started on time tomorrow due to the pitch being deemed unsafe to play on, there is likely to be a riot!!

Yeh, I think they will have to play tomorrow. About a tonne of sawdust may be needed! Anymore rain on Sunday could cause a big problem for Monday however

Heavy rain forecast overnight Sunday. Monday looks a concern.

If the forecast is right, then the outfield will be sodden on Monday & probably unplayable, with the prospect or more rain through the day.Therefore could be just today left! What odds would England be to win if today was the last day? Could be some sun today also, so the ball might not move quite as much. My main concern is India's batting!

Lancashire CCC should suffer repercussions ie fines and no future test matches for 3 years over this....they must have known about the problem, as Watkinson intimated. That there was a problem was confirmed by the T2O game .And always likely to occur with the weather forecast before the game.
Essentially they didn't have the balls to discuss with the umpires allowing the boundary to be moved in. Mind you they probably don't care as the game wasn't abandoned until 5-45 so they will have made enough on sales of overpriced weak beer. As they will today if there are problems. There is a possibility today could be the last days play. Sunday looks like a wash out which would also have serious consequences for Mondays play given the pitch. The draw might drift slightly once play is underway today but as long as India can start batting ok the draw will tumble. England look too short to me although India don't have much of a chance.

Today, is very very, unlikely to be the last days play of this match. Forecasts are very very uncertain and the heavy rain, could even miss the south of the country, so there could well be some play on Sunday, as well.

yesterday the met office got that small pocket of rain spot on. It was such a small band of weather & it hit on time. It didnt even appear on the radar until about 12.30!

I think tooday could be the best day for batting. I am against the draw so that isn't too good for me. In complete denial at the moment and still unwilling to sell England green. Will be studying the weather charts! Great start with Jadeja

I laid Eng yesterday but my worry is Eng get bowled out with a 150-200 lead then takr 4-5 Ind wickets by stumps. Game would effectively be over
