OMG , England had australia 143 for 5 at one stage , that 100 plus partnership has cost england any chance of retaining , they are just gonna get punished now

selectors will no doubt be patting themselves on the back this evening for the bresnan selection

both he and anderson have been the only bowlers with the control to keep their economy rates below 4

and as we all know the economy rate is THE no 1. factor in winning test matches.

well done. the papers will be praising figures of 14-4-39-2.88 and 20-4-70-3.5 tomorrow morning. both performances line them up for man of the match awards should england do the impossible here.

imagine the damage finn could have caused to the england's chance if he went at over 4 an over.

eng. have limited the damage this sess.

maybe if we had someone with genuine pace and height we wouldn't have needed to limit the damage.

Yeah, selectors just as big a problem as Cook IMO.  Cook in regards to the captaincy anyway.  They set the tone, and flows straight through the team.

Hard to soar with eagles when you work with turkeys, as they say....

They still think England win this 1/5?  FFS..  Thought the poms were broke...  Won't take long if they aren't...

it's a mindset that infects the entire set up.

will they bowl out all the 90 overs or is there a limit on the time they can go over?

Think it was an extra 30 minutes to get them.  Puts them close.  To within a couple of normal teams, but England, who knows...  38 minutes in my calcs so doubtful they get them.

37 minutes to bowl 12 overs....yeah I think they may be 2-3 short

Apart from the selectors, you can see it every time England lose the toss.  Cook needs to attack attack attack.  His main strategy is to wait for the opposition to dangle the carrot.  And while the locals thought 3-0 last series was something special, the realists understand just how lucky they were to even win the series.

Rather be batting than bowling.  Harris more than capable of cleaning this team up as he did last time on this pitch.

-1481 England.

Disappointed there isn't more opportunities, but getting to the point where I can just let it ride....

being able to play the containing game and eke out wickets is a great string to your bow, but it is just that.

it is not a method for all pitches against all sides. certainly not here.

it's been happening for years now and is a deeply embedded philosophy of the entire side.

don't worry about that BJ, england aint winning this test , they missed their chance @ 143 for 5
By:

Have to worry about that though because I haven't made enough to warrant 5 days...  Need England to at least have a go so I can double it up....

Surely a big fine for England today for slow over rate?
Extra 30 minutes and still get it.  No reviews, only 6 wickets.

Draw?  Very unlikely.  Aus bat til after lunch tomorrow, England are fcuked.  Bowled out for 200.  Been 43 all day today, and unlikely they have seen anything like this before.  This aint no humid heat, this is dry sapping heat of the highest order.
Openers will fall quick to Harris at 145+, and the tail won't even whimper to Johnson.  Draw will be 20s+ tomorrow, so don't even worry about it.

They are 18 minutes behind time and still 6 overs short.  Cook must do time.  Ridiculous.
