if stokes and prior put on a hundred it will get very interesting, the waca leaks runs, even if james anderson and tim bresnan batted for 30 overs they would put on 80

I remember a State final here about 15 years ago, and the 10th wicket pair needed something like 120 runs or so to win with 1 wicket remaining, and they did it. So Aussies not counting their chickens just yet

England haven't got a hope in hell of chasing down 250 on this pitch with their best batsmen in the shed, Stoke will need to get a big big hundred as Prior has only made runs when the game was all but over at Adelaide on a flat pitch

don't get me wrong i don't expect anything other than an aussie win.
but from a trading POV the first session is crucial. should they not lose a wicket (unlikely with the new ball in 13 overs) the market will go into blind panic. i'd expect them to score at about 3-4 RPO until the new ball. then just defend away. maybe 60-80 runs in the session. |

Broad, Swann, Bresnan and Andersen can all bat. Prior is down on form but showed with his 60 odd in Adelaide, he can fire if needs be. Stokes has looked pretty solid from what Ive seen of him in 2 tests but he needds to go on and make a big hundred. I think for England to win, they need to chase this target before the Evening Session (morning and afternoon sessions). Just play their natural game would be my advice, and use the Barmy Army support as motivation to go on and get the win. (The Barmy Army is England's 6th wicket in hand tommorow)

more than likely it will be 250am and stokes and prior will be blown away.
i really think if those two can see off the new ball we will win. but thats a 4-5% chance. |

Well it might mean Broad can play his shots by just standing there, and not taking any risks with the running. He is a powerful man, can easily see him clearing the boundaries, and cutting back the singles, and 2's

Broad will bat if needed, the only way he doesn't bat if England lose their next four wickets for about 30 runs.
He was well enough to try and bowl in the nets after it so no problem him going out to bat with a pain killing injection if needed. |

Also must say I went to Days 1 and 3 of this test match, WACA is a poor venue in terms of facilitating the supporters. Not enough shaded areas, and I think some precaution has to be taken for the players.........

It Hit 43.6 degrees yesterday but was reading The West some of the medical experts reckon the game should be played around 7am or 3pm later in the afternoon.

if england can bat til lunch without losing a wicket, they can easily win the game. it has happened before. though probably not too often with the likes of stokes and prior. 9 out of 10 times in this position theyll be all out by lunch or just after. the next wicket is pretty much the last stand. if they get through to lunch with 6 down a tiny glimmer i suppose. 7 down and its shirley all over.

going to be an exciting first session. should be all england until the new ball. then we will probably be steamrollered.
at least prior and stokes have 13 overs to get their eyes in, then 17 overs to nullify the ball. heres hoping  |

i must admit, australia have been brilliant. mind games worked a treat. have attacked us from the moment we got off the plane, in the head and on the field. if we could get out of this with a draw/win, the rest of the series is going to be compelling.

Green all round here so just waiting for the result . In the course of trading I backed England at 75 , and still have not traded it back at 19 or whatever . Could be itchy fingers early tomorrow though , lose a wicket and they are 40's . Alternatively hold on for 10 overs and Aussies will be 1.15 . How did Aussies ever get to 2.76 to win , anyone remind me the state of the match then , assuming it wasn't a blip ?

@ Kelly Aussies were 143/5 in 1st innings on the 1st day (it was assumed to be a par score of 380 in 1st innings)

Clutching at straws much, you haven't posted a decent score all series and you're now going to score another 250 odd on this pitch with all your top batsmen already back in the pavilion, that the funniest thing I've heard in a long time and in the process breaking an all time test match record.
As for broad getting runs the first few thunderbolts bowled at 140-150km/hr at his feet will see him throwing away his wicket that quickly that if you blink you'll miss it and rightly so because if he does have a break in his foot and gets hit again that could possibly be a career threatening injury. No way known I'd be batting with a fractured foot in what amounts to an exercise in futility when the your top order failed again and after that pitiful fielding display. Australia will come out refreshed in the morning and in all probability knock you over in the first session, seriously what fantasyland do you guys live in. |

his foot isn't broken, its badly bruised. painkilling injections will sort him out to bat.
its unlikely but could happen. and i'm unaware of any english fan sayinrg that we will win, merely that there could be a very very good trade on the cards. |

No one thinks that's what going to happen but you can't dismiss a possible England win here.
Will it still be fantasy if England go to lunch with Prior and Stokes at the crease? |

There's a lot of wishful thinking on here - I'm as big a fan of England as any and I don't think they have any chance
whatsoever of getting these runs. They are effectively 6 down, Broad will only bat at 11 if there is a point to it - which there wont be. How do you think Broad would fare against a Yorker from Harris or Johnson. The new ball will surely kill England off. Well done to Ben Stokes for a valiant knock today. |
