Often when batsmen try to block out they lose discipline or patience or even their concentration and get out anyway
By:
I will be staggered if it gets to 5oo....
Have been with NZ all along and dont see England winning at all. However if you put up the 80 i'll have it. |
By:
I'm back on draw
convinced England will have to play to save match |
By:
Ive seen teams try to shut down shop by defending the last day's play........Often here commentators 'the best form of defence is attack'. Personally feel England batsman will have to play their natural game in order to survive.

I agree, West Coast

By:
true cric nut, but the fact they fecked up one innings doesn't mean that becomes the norm for them. especially when they know exactly what they need to do.
look at the first test. |
By:
well, we do have Cook and Trott, who can bat endless hours and Jo Root, batted a fair time in the 1st innings, but Compton, despite 2 100's will not be good enough under pressure, Bell is out of form, Bairstow has batted once in 7 months, Broad has done little with the bat for some time now, Finn has probably had his 1 long innings, Anderson could hang about for an hour and Monty could hang about for an over. Test Match will finish, probably mid afternoon tomorrow.

By:
to bat a day and a half on this pitch is technically not difficult BUT England have to have their mind set on 0-0 series to achieve that. can't be caught in two minds

for anyone interested in shield cricket: Tasmania 419 v QLD 215/9 , Day 4
By:
Hard to see the Banana Benders winning from here
By:
dont think Tasmania will enforce the follow on, Sheffield Shield is awarded to home side if they draw or win @ home (after 5 days of play)
By:
Knew you would'nt be long PJ..plus 3 and you are out to play..
I'll be backing the wickets... |

NZ out 9 ticks since 11.30pm
![]() |
By:
england 23 out to 32 during lunch
By:
And the draw has fallen away from around 3.0 to 2.7
By:
maybe tv has been talking to nz players and theyve said theyre batting beyond 500?
By:
I would have the draw significantly sub 3.0 here, england much longer than they are and NZ a bit longer. maybe something like 1.66, 2.68, 80
------ not a mile out. |
By:
bet the draw goes sub 2.4 before england bat, too
By:
Nice little drift...
By:
i have a feeling mccullum will fancy slogging out to make a century too
By:
Think i might have a play on the unders for this sessions runs after 40 minutes by which stage it should be fairly high and a declaration will be likely. Cant see england doing anything other than batting time when they get in.
By:
Draw continuing to fall away...

Declaration very close - and McCullum must have his half century
By:
i reckon he will fance a century
By:
lol england in 8 points on the wicket..it made no difference at all
By:
would southee not be a better option to come in.
By:
He certainly would but will he be given the time to reach it?
By:
No way will mccollum even think about a hundred. It would be considered self indulgent in his mind and he is a very unselfish player.
By:
unless he 20/20's it for 6 overs
By:
Even then i dont think he would. As captain he needs to set the example that individual runs are secondary to the team.
By:
good to see southee has the pads on - 225 runs bet should be looking good
By:
99 per cent on here would have declared a good while ago ! Absolute nonsense to keep batting on !
By:
Bet Botham is thinking 'if NZ declare now, we'll only need just over 3 an over to win.
By:
I must of the one per cent.Grind your opposition into the dust.
By:
im pretty sure that the 250 will be hit as well. might only be 4 overs at 6s
