It really is 3rd rate now.

Firstly the press conference to day was spectacular in giving answers that did not answer the actual question asked.

Then the slowly breaking news on a FRIDAY EVENING with no parliament sitting, no sign of a PM and Charlotte telling NHS staff to be accepting of tests, whilst wearing used, not fit for purpose second hand PPE, contrary to guidlines.....it is truly LAUGHABLE, but not funny..........

The PPE doesn't exist to be used and there is a worldwide shortage. WTF is difficult about this to understand.

Do you think will all this immense pressure the Tories and civil servants aren't trying or something?

This is the worst populace in British history. So much for Blitz spirit, it's like toddlers who've never been told the meaning of the word "No".

the only thing i would disagree with Peckerdunne is the vaccine bit, tbf nobody has got close yet by the looks of things
however news that the oxford research are confident it works without any tests is putting false hope out there and should be nipped in the bud asap

The management have no idea what they are doing . There is nobody in charge . There was no forward planning  , no insurance . I would rather form a group of experts from chit chat to run the country than rely on these comedians . I wouldn't employ one of them to sweep my front garden .

As densely populated as the Uk ?? I would also say you are Behind the UK by a week or so ...

A high proportion of Eire deaths have occurred in Care homes

I would compare N Eire Figures with Eire figures , they are basically on Par,with very similar

The problem is that politicians are expected to solve every problem that arises - and they are just not qualified to do so. We have a health and logistics crisis. The PM is a graduate in classical mythology, his stand in is a lawyer and the Health Secreatary is an economist. There should be contingencies that allow the appointment of relevant people who are given relevant powers, sanctioned by government who then simply step back.

They are asking to re-use ppe that is designed for single use, they promised care homes the earth yesterday re ppe and tests, ok they aren't there but why lie? That is shameful and embarressing.

From a too late lock down, they packed the tubes transport to protect a dead economy and were in the process of carrying out herd immunity ,to todays farce, they have cost more lives than should have been.

That is the short of it,you deserve better than the clowns in charge of this.

No it's just that after abour 2 months discussing it you STILL don't have the slightest handle on what lowering the increase in an exponential growth curve means.

The non-supply of PPE isn't down to government. NHS trusts have their own procurement departments who source and buy in the equipment needed. The government provides extra funding, if needed, but getting the stuff in is down to NHS management. But, hey ho, let's give Boris a kicking.

Public Health England are more culpable than any government official... they should all be sacked. For years they've been telling us rubbish about how many sausages to eat, how butter was bad for us and then how good it was for us. Suddenly when they needed to do their jobs, nothing! Now that's shameful.

The English NHS is controlled by the UK government through the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), which takes political responsibility for the service.

It's all been a lag behind when severe action was needed but that's because this country was never in any state to deal with this.

it was a possibility all the scientists knew about but one we as a country were totally unprepared for.

And that's stretching many govts cos the risk has always been there.Other countries that have had a taste of potentially devastating outbreaks had things in place we had fook all.

Thus everything has been too slow.
