One good thing that has come out of the Corona Virus is Air Pollution is much much lower.

The most amazing thing in any of this is that China, the most populist country in the world, managed to limit the first wave of the virus to 3,000 deaths (to date), with virtually no new cases in recent weeks. Apart from the early lockdown, and temperature testing, how was this achievable? Or is the answer in the question?

Rightwing nutjob conspiracy theories, blame game etc etc we should be lookig closer to home with the 21 year old declared corona victim by coroner the hospital have her down in stats as no corona..Who is going to follow this up and get another post mortem? |

it took 4 months to record 300,000 global cases. It has taken 6 days to record the second 300,000.
It took 4 months to record 13,000 global deaths. The number of global deaths has more than doubled in the following 6 days. Today 3,000 recorded deaths there were only 4 times that in the first 4 months. In a weeks time we will be past a million cases and pushing 100,000 deaths - you can then keep doubling until we hit the peak which in the uk terms is expected to be in around 3 months times. Eh? If we have a million cases in a week's time, and the number is doubling every six days, well over 8 billion people will be infected in three months' time. Which is a problem, because there are only 7.8 billion people in the world. A virus from which the average person recovers after a couple of weeks can't possibly infect everybody, because it runs out of hosts way before then. That's what herd immunity is. And that's assuming only one million are infected now. The true number is way higher, with most infected people being told to stay at home and not get tested. So, as long as you're correct, and the number of infections doubles every six days, the virus has to be gone in less than three months. |

Coroner stated corona, hospital said no she's down in the stats as no corona virus parents were informed she died of it,i wonder how many will be getting this from hospitals in next couple of weeks..

Some people seem to be getting very upset if a person hasn't died with this virus.
By:
Hopefully will be taking government to court if these cases are being lied about,if its a lie it's endagering others as well crazy.

Correction: getting very, very upset

By:
When people die people are upset, your post is stupid.
By:
It's not the death he's getting upset about. It's the fact the hospital said she didn't have this virus.
By:
But she did according to the coroner, she was 21..
By:
Shameful to use these unfortunate deaths to have a go at the Tories.
By:
And the hospital said she didn't. You don't know whether she did or not. Nor do I.
But I'm not the one ranting about cover-ups, taking the government to court and calling the hospital crazy. Why are you getting so upset at the possibility this poor girl might not have had the virus when she died? |
By:
Why would you not be bothered, you don't want to know course of death in a pandemic,if they are just going to put deaths down as non virus why the coroner has done autopsy that should be questioned and done again..Not unless you jusy want to accep this everytime, similar to my family my son has asthma,my mum has terminal lung cancer i have ms if they tried to fob blame off on these conditions i would have them up in court simple as that..
By:
The hospital said she didn't have the virus but you want the Tories taken to court. Doesn't make sense.

A 3 week lockdown is not going to fix anything, nor is it meant to. It is simply to stop your health service becoming overwhelmed and the death rate rocketing like in Lombardy.
People are still comparing the current death rate to flu. Flu doesn't spread like this as there is a vaccine and immunity amongst the population. Flu therefore does not have the capability to overwhelm a country's healthcare system like this virus does. When a country's healthcare system is overwhelmed the death rate rockets. The goal is to get the numbers down as much as possible and to avoid that happening for as much time as possible. If the virus ends up killing at the same rate as flu then that will be a massive result for any country, but the simpletons will say that it is no worse than flu and that a lockdown wasn't necessary. It's quite simple - flu doesn't have the capability to overwhelm a health service. If it did the death numbers would be a lot higher every year. This virus clearly has the capability to overwhelm a health service. The goal is to avoid that and to keep the death rate at the level of flu, but that will only happen with huge restrictions on people. Not comparable to flu. |

This is not a party political issue akabula
Do you not understand that The Government of the day needs to be held to account and questioned? The Government not The Tories! The day of reckoning is a long way off. The people advising us and enforcing us to practise social distancing did not follow their own advice and are now sick. I have seen no politicians with latex gloves on or masks round their necks to demonstrate the level of protection needed when out shopping. Medical staff do not have the proper protective equipment I went shopping yesterday. Nobody had gloves on and only two or three wore a mask. All this has nothing to do with the Tories but everything to do with The Government. Our leader has not thus far shown the best leadership qualities. Now many more people are dying and vunerable because he didn’t do what was required when it was required |
By:
Masks don't prevent you catching the virus. Masks simply help prevent you spreading it if you've already got it.
By:
At least not the masks joe public will wear anyway.
By:
You contract the virus through one of three entry points in your body.
Mouth, nose, or eyes. |

Ok, let's start with the graph above.
The red line (a constant) represents the surge critical care bed capacity available within the NHS. The other five lines show the likely demand that would be placed on critical care bed capacity as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak given a range of scenarios. The black line is if no measures are taken to manage the outbreak and is the scary one that prompted action. The other lines are "what if" estimates assuming the implementation of defined measures. |
