There are absolutely no positives. Wrongs haven't been righted and never will.

Physical prowess may not have been possible without the genetic mutations that the enslaved went through,I believe that it's possible that the increased testosterone in males from African DNA could be the factor as their ancestral diets are low in Igf1 which wouldn't help increase testosterone compared to our Western diet.

After age adjustment, free testosterone levels were significantly higher in black than in white men (WMD = 4.07 pg/mL, 95% CI 1.26, 6.88). Depending on the free testosterone concentration in white men, this WMD translates into a racial difference ranging from 2.5 to 4.9%

Well that's part of why I wanted to know how Africans lived beforehand as in the OP and elaborated subsequently.

The wrongs of slavery have been well established on this thread why you are continuing to push this only you will know, this is supposed top be all round debate there's far more to this subject than your supposition.
The subsequent development in the wider world of those with African lineage should be seen as a positive because without it it's possible that those of African lineage may never have got to where they are in the world now.
That is why knowing how African life was in all it's positives a negatives is relevant as is the current state of African life 1/2 live in povery 2/5 are illiterate.
Whereas in the wider world the numbers of those with African lineage suffering from poverty and illiteracy will look very different.
Lots more relevant offshoots it's my opinion (as said already) is that more should be made of the good that's came after the suffering of the enslaved.
Please READ THE THREAD I won't be kow towing any more to the racially sensitive who CHOOSE not to do so repeating the same shyte in a different way this is a subject with lots of depth and strands of debate.

What kind of lives did slaves have before they were snatched for the slave trade.

Has Africa got any further forward than it otherwise would have without the slave trade? Should those born of African descent start looking at the slave trade in a different way because without it there's every chance they'd be still living like Africans are now had their ancestors not been taken?

This isn't selective memory. But ok I'll answer the questions. 'Further forward' is based on preconceived ideas so the questions is pointless. The second sentence about living like ancestors is what this is about. Hopefully they'd still be living like their ancestors.

Not at all it's 2019 now the African slave trade is said to have started in the 15th century without knowing how they lived in all facets of live we can't determine progression in the way we we can in the Western world, from your point of view I take it you think Africa should've been left alone completely.

All countries should be left alone with some exceptions but that's not really the argument.

How are you measuring progression?

Did Africa ever have an epidemic to rival the black death in 14th c Europe?
By:
Just Checking
When: 30 Jul 19 19:25
No it never really had the plague.
There was a tv program a couple years ago saying that africans are much more prone to HIV/Aids than Europeans as the virus is apparently similar and the Europeans who survived the plague (i.e. ancestors of modern native europeans) have been naturally selected to be a bit (though obviously not at all totally) more immune to it.

Thanks, that's interesting JC. Plague the clear winner then, I doubt that wiping out over a third of a continent by pathogenic means will ever be done again.

Statistically that makes Africa the safer continent to live in around the middle of the 2nd millennium.

Maybe different now, but I suspect that going back to that era their civil wars were somewhat less brutal than the wars of the roses for example.

Mouse, read more on subject say here:

https://www.nature.com/news/2005/050307/full/050307-15.html
Ok it's 10% of the population are apparently resistant to it but that's still a fair whack and an interesting working example of how natural selection affects a population pool, 100s of years later.

So the mutation goes from 1 in 20,000 up to 1 in 10 as a function of the plague's 100% strike rate.

As I have explained earlier the slave trade had been ongoing long before and not only in Africa
It existed in Europe and it was the Black Death that helped to get rid of it in Europe

At the most extreme end a person of African lineage (albeit a concoction of many races) was in charge of the most powerful country on the planet whereas 1/2 of people living in Africa now are living in poverty unable to feed themselves,is that better worse or the same as before knowing how things were can tell us that.
