The problem in medicine is getting people to change old habits.
Decades ago a very clever Australian doctor discovered the cause of stomach ulcers, and the cure. He announced his finding to the world, ten years later only 10% of doctors were using his treatment despite him shouting it from the rooftops. It wasn't until after the media got hold of the story that it became the standard treatment for ulcers and he was awarded The Nobel prize for his work. That must have cost the pharmaceuticals a bomb. But getting duodenal ulcers which once could be a killer is now easily cured. So why were the medical profession so loath to use his treatment when the evidence that the treatment worked was overwhelming? Because like every other profession those at the top dictate policy. And the drug manufacturers make dam sure they have their own people right in there at the top of the health tree pulling the strings. Hasn't if ever occurred to people why the pharmaceuticals rarely come up with a drug that cures anything? It's the same with dentists and rotten teeth. Once they pull the tooth that's their supply of revenue ended for that particular chopper. You see, money is king in medicine as well. And the ones calling the shots are the food industry and the pharmaceuticals. Look for the money and you'll find who's running the show. |

Maybe you should read some of the comments at the bottom.
You have also plucked this from a website that directly makes it's money by selling the complete opposite of McDougall and the like so it's pretty much as expected,I can attest to what is correct through practical experience and have no doubts whatsoever about rights and wrongs of nutrition for health or fitness. |

You'll never get through STUDYFORM's wall of pig-headedness Denzil.
I wouldn't even attempt to. His only contribution here is to keep bumping the thread to the top. Which is something even he can do. |

Crippen you make some sound points there i must say
|

By:
Too much conspiracy, crippen.... as always.
If you're talking about Helicobacter Pylori, it isn't by any means the reason for all ulcers. And like every other cure, one to be thoroughly checked out before being acted upon. As all things medical do. Simply antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors for a few weeks. Which incidentally, are "meds" and make the "Pharma" companies money Hence the current issue with Mesh repairs. Or the issue with breast implants or |

When i was younger i had a duodenal ulcer andit was treated with antacids and they used to say it was caused by stress , then they found out it was caused by infection helibector virus i think and treated aggressively with anti biotics

No he doesn't anxious.
Crippen I have never known anyone as wrong about so much, so often as you are. Denzil, it was the only thing about this incredible Dr I could find that wasn't put onto the web by him! |

By:
That was, anxious, after H. Pylori was discovered.
It wasn't some sort of medical cover-up! |

btw, bumping the thread to the top is the sort of childish thing that occurs to you crippen.
All I've done is respond to ignorance and idiocy. |

But Study would you not wonder why diabetes has not been cured yet , yes i know they can control it but medicine has evolved over the years surely ?

HP is the single biggest cause of duodenal ulcers.
It's easy to check for and it's easy to cure. ''A study in Digestive and Liver Disease suggests that 60 to nearly 100 percent of peptic ulcers are associated with H. pylori. Ulcers aren't the only problems associated with H. pylori; researchers discovered that H. pylori cause gastritis, a condition that involves inflammation of the stomach's lining''. My attention was drawn to it when a television programme was done about it, saying it was a scandal that it still wasn't being widely used to cure ulcers ten years after its discovery. |
|
By:
The programme was around 1992, the cure was discovered in 1982.
I bumped into a chap in the mid nineties who told me that he was about to undergo surgery for an ulcer a year previous, but shortly before the operation his doctor wanted to try this ''new'' treatment. He did and it worked. So that was at least 12 years after it was discovered. |
|
By:
More like 14 years after it was discovered, because Labour won the election that year. So it was 1997.

Here's that link again that explains what insulin resistance(diabetes) is.
It's littered with studies that back up all the claims being made. Every statement that Dr Greger makes is backed by a passage from a study. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw8hufhIDu0 So would anyone like to take issue with any of the points he makes or the irresistible conclusion that fat is the primary cause of insulin resistance? Using studies to prove their case. |

By:
Quackery, Crippen - this is the sort of balderdash you trot out to "prove" man never went to the moon. It's youtube ballls dressed up as plausible.
Anxious, I think most things cannot be cured, but that isn't because of a big cover-up. New treatments are available all the time. The fact is that Type 1 Diabetes is a massive lack of insulin production by the pancreas. Short of having a new pancreas, all that can be done is to deliver the hormone from outside the body. It isn't actually a medicine as such, just a replacement. Maybe one day a cure can be found. There are so many things that have no cure, the other which I unfortunately suffer with and have for many years, is Psoriasis. Hundreds of quack/diet/lifestyle theories abound, all anecdotal, all crap. There are loads of treatments, including: Light, creams and moisturisers, steroid ointments, oral medications (all of which are very strong - the skin being the last thing to be affected by drugs). If none of these really work there are new treatments available, not actual cures, but very effective treatments nonetheless. The only people who can issue or prescribe these drugs are the consultants, but they won't because of costs and NICE guidelines, because the NHS doesn't allow them to spend the money. |
|
By:
STUDYFORM have you ever tried a plant/starch based diet for Psoriasis as many have had success with that particular condition.
|
|
By:
Psoriasis.
No cure? My mate had a large area down his leg with that, he'd been to the hospital with it but they couldn't get rid of it. Anyway he was getting gout pretty bad, this was some years ago and I suggested cherry concentrate tablets after he had a disaster with Allopurinol. The recommended dose was two a day, he took five a day. Low and behold his gout eased off no end and it's never come back as bad. Bit the startling thing was, his psoriasis cleared up completely. |
|
By:
You can't take half of those treatments for psoriasis if you kidneys aren't up to scratch.
It's either your kidneys or your liver that takes a hammering from one thing or another they give you. |
|
By:
I have tried everything.
It is almost certainly stress related. So many conditions are. I have seen at least 10 different specialists in the field around the country over the years and done the lot, from diet to oats in the bath. It can just clear up on its own, without warning. Mine has spread of late. There are forums and websites and EVERYONE has a "cure". The strongest treatment I had was (briefly) retinol, tablets, these are vitamin A and cause loads of side-effects, but are not as strong as the next treatment (methotrexate) which as Crippen rightly says cannot be taken without loads of kidney tests on a regular basis. Using steroid creams over too much of an area of skin can also damage the kidneys. Psoriasis is more of a problem than diabetes. |

Is it scalp Psoriasisif you don't mind me asking?
|
|
By:
all over the place, scand.
The back of my scalp more recently. what WAS just Knees and elbows is now all over. And itching is a new progression. The 'magic bullet' cure, mentioned by my consultant, is out, because it costs £10,000. I reckon the creams, pills, appointments and so on, will probably cost the same over time. Here's an interesting fact. The newest ointment 'Entstilar' (a mix of dovonex and lighter fuel, in a sort of spray) f***ing cold on the skin btw, costs £37 a tin to the NHS. If you live in the USA it costs around $700 a can. It is all about money. |
|
By:
have you ever tried applying organic Apple Cider Vinger? I know some people have used this to treat scalp conditions in particular and they swear by it.

I'd be prepared to try anything and I have done in the past.
I'd try a course of vitamin and mineral supplements, food exclusion, low fat diet, low carb diet anything with a chance in order to get to the bottom of it. Forget that stress tripe, if stress were the cause then stress relieving drugs would clear it up. You're a humdinger to try a plant based diet STUDY. Just think if you cut out dairy for instance and it cleared up. You'll never know if you don't try. I'd cut the lot out and live on starch for a few weeks. And if that didn't work try the opposite, living on animal and fish products with no grains. You'll never know if you don't try. |
|

not easy when DR C about but he means well
Your loss not mine. |

People put there faith in doctors and they not even taught nutrition when they go to college, probably one session in on a afternoon after lunch when they half asleep.
They've only got drugs to treat people with, they know nothing else. And people treat them like Gods. They've got a list of drugs they use, they start at the top and work their way down, in the hope you'll get fed up and stop going. Or in the case of something serious like heart disease, until you snuff it. |

Capt_F, thank you and I'll take your word for it.
Forget that stress tripe, if stress were the cause then stress relieving drugs would clear it up. Of all the tripe you've posted on here, That has just taken number one spot. For Your Information. Stress is almost certainly the number one killer in the world. It is very well recognised as the main cause of psoriasis. Just taking anti-stress pills doesn't get rid of stress, it just makes the brain deal better with it. I suppose as well as diabetes and psoriasis, you have the simple cure for MS, clinical depression, and AIDS as well. Perhaps we should close all hospitals and eat plants. Doctors aren't gods, most of the time they can't cure anything much, some of them are downright stupid, but that doesn't mean some twerps who shouldn't be allowed a computer posting videos on youtube are right. They are the ones doing it for the money, or a bit of fame. |
