A momentous occasion tonight, is it not? Almost impossible to overstate the import of today's vote, its consequences will affect the direction of American politics for a generation. I'm firmly in the Kavanaugh camp. His qualifications for the role of supreme court justice are impeccable, yet his treatment by democrats and media has been abysmal in my view. I remain cautiously confident of a successful confirmation nevertheless, but the pairing deal struck by Senators Murkowski and Daines does give me some slight pause. Is such an agreement binding and can she be trusted? I am uncertain on both counts. It will also be fascinating to see if everyone sticks to their cloture resolutions. Given a few individuals' penchant for grandstanding, a spot of eleventh hour chicanery would come as no surprise. Best wishes. :) |
