Theresa May didn't meet any residents, such a poor leader, you didn't see Corbyn shirking.

She may be a private person and it may have been for security reasons, but she'd be surrounded by security.

What was the point in meeting the fire crew doing their job, go and see the people whose lives are turned upside down.

I can honestly see this issue doing for the Tory government now.
That sajid MP type just had a torrid time square batting questioning in the BBC story about what they will do about every high rise in the country and he's been pressured into having to meet residents today.
This is not going away and MPs are only going to have to commit more and more to this problem, which their use of delaying tactic and general rhetoric won't suffice.

The government is as weak as a kitten, as soon as parliament is reopened they could be wrapping it up again.

The residents should demand an inquest, not a public enquiry. They deserve to have the right to ask questions of those responsible and as I understand it, a public enquiry will not give them anything that the politicians do not wish them to know.

Can you really blame her, people wanted and needed to vent their anger. Look at LABOURS Khan even he received a torrent of abuse and tbf not been in the job long enough to have any responsibility. As for Corbyn man of the people ???????? He's irrelevant no power or responsibility so wide open goal for him Mischief

Really you think he is irrelevant Dan , he has shown some sympathy and interest in the people affected , the Prime Minister seems incapable of showing some humanity and leadership on lots of issues lately.

Dan

You are absolutely right!

This is a big open goal for Corbyn.

This is an opportunity for " The Many " to take their Country back from "The Few "

Hard Brexit, Soft Brexit what the hell does it matter if we still get screwed by the 1%

This fire is endemic of what happens to the little people and I sincrely hope crystalises the resistence.

Theresa not known for putting herself in situations where awkward questions are asked.

Agree WD.........with reluctance SadThis could be a game changer but I don't think it's as simplistic as its being portrayed. Mind you apparently this type of insulation not allowed in tower blocks in the US and having worked briefly in the construction business out there I can tell you their houses are sh1t !

What does the watching world make of this, our PRIME minister, spends 15 minutes there, without meeting surviving residents!, or relatives to give comfort and assurances, and we get security excuses, does not want to hamper ongoing work excuses etc, other world leaders who have had to do this must be shaking their heads in disbelief. May out NOW. NO IDEA, NO EMPATHY, WHAT HUMANITY??.......bl00dy cold calculating fish she is.

She ran the home office for 6 years but can't handle this, FFS.

Further more cooperman is spot on, Public enquiry! what a sick joke.

As i said yesterday..
these enquiries cost millions take up to 7 years, by which time everyone has long moved on and the impetus to implement the recommendations is long gone. They have the appearance of a hybrid Quango, a nice jolly for the faithful!. Even the good guys, (Levenson comes to mind) get pushed aside.

I wonder what Baroness, Ann Elizabeth Oldfield Butler-Slos GBE, PC, is up to these days.

Doubt it in the short term saddo, certainly should see better safety systems installed, lazy local government officials will have to sit up and take notice/responsibility and our weakened Building control/planning should/must beoverhauled along with the useless Fire regs.

Unbelievable

An opportunity to show leadership and empathy with the victims and she blows it. She's so out of touch with ordinary people it's not true. Another nail in her coffin.

May not talking to residents is incidental. Along with Corbyn and his grandstanding.

What does matter is that May has announced an enquiry, which lets everyone off the hook again.

Now the answer to every question from the authorities will be - ''let's wait and see what comes out of the enquiry''

We know it wasn't a lack of money because the cladding costs a fortune to install. So they can't come that one.

PUblic enquiries, Government driven Government controlled, announced with great haste, It will be interesting to see the 'Terms of reference' and time scale, as for transparency we can only live in the new hope that we have a powerful social media now.

On sky now -  you only have to see this tory woman mp now representing the whole house (parliament)  sent down to the area and how her accent, posture, awkwardness so not natural, like some sort of mechanised mouthpiece - they don't speak for these people - the gap between many politicians and people are so obvious.

there are so few mps in the house that have anything in common with most of the electorate

I bang on about this time and again - we need to clean the whole lot out of there along with their advisors and the civil servants
and start again

All this is to do with is incompetence at council level, and building regulations that aren't fit for purpose.

It's not about cuts either. Plenty of money was available for the cladding work. Done as a priority for green issues no doubt.

It may be incidental but it's an important issue in itself. Her days as tory leader are numbered. Angela Leadsome turning up to meet residents this morning could be viewed as the start of the leadership contest.

The youtube links that I put up are of Sophie Khan, a solicitor with experience of representing victims of this type of tragedy on Newsnight last night. It's a cover up(the Public Enquiry) no more, no less. May, when Home Secretary, was the one who accused the Police of crying wolf and the cowardice shown by her when visiting the scene and not meeting residents comes as no surprise.

You can almost hear the sighs of relief from all concerned, as they get ready to answer every question from now on with:

''Let's wait to see the findings of the enquiry before we make any judgements.''

think the first four floors are private owned / rented out by the management company, fire started on the second floor
