Fair play to you Marcce. At least you did manage to cobble together an arguments of sorts. I note it was immediately followed by an affirmation from that coward facts. Having given you all due respect for putting your head above the parapet let us now turn to the substance of your argument.

To answer the original question, I tend to think that trying to pin the blame for virtually every problem there is in this country on immigrants is pretty vile and I'm certainly not a "luvvie" or a rabid lefty.

I can't say if you are either but I can say you are wrong. If Farage, a la the BNP, blamed immigrants for all our problems then he would be advocating stopping immigration and even repatriating the immigrants that are here. He isn't. So clearly there is something wrong with your analysis. In fact he is advocating a points based system to bring in those immigrants which we want. Similar to Australia, a country people are fighting to get into. I don't even think that immigration is Farage's number one concern. That is our continuing membership of the EU and us ceding the power to run our own country. If we took back that power then everything which would flow from that decision is far more important than the issue of immigration simply because unlimited immigration is only one of the factors which has arisen from the virtual decision to abandon parliamentary democracy in this country.

It's strange EO that you choose to take umbrage at the "spitefulness" directed at Farage and UKIP. Has there not been spitefulness directed at Cameron and the Conservatives then? Or at Miliband and Labour? Or Sturgeon and the SNP? Or at Clegg and the Lib Dems?

What I take umbrage at is the insinuations and sneering contempt for the simple proposition wherever it arises that the sixth largest trading nation on earth with historical ties around the world is so enfeebled that it is unable to govern itself or set its own laws. The people who are denouncing Farage in such contemptuous tones are saying that this aspiration is evil/vile etc. Is that really the state of democracy in this country?

At the start of this campaign I was prepared to listen to Farage. I have been absolutely flabbergasted at just how one dimensional he has been. What's more I think you have been as well which is why you've resorted to this wild flailing out at any target you can try to blame for his failings.

I never intended to vote for Farage. I think my local MP is a decent man and putting such a  man in parliament is a damned site better than seeing the detritus which will be sent there from much of the country. Having got that out of the way Farage isn't in the least one dimensional but his core message that only by taking back control of our own country can we shape our own destiny is both right and a powerful message in its own right.

I'm not flailing around. I requested one of the many posters denouncing him as vile etc to come on and elaborate on their vitriolic abuse. Despite your arguments being feeble you at least have done so. Others are too frit.

This goes far wider than Farage or UKIP. This is an issue about the democratic deficit in this country which has flown from our membership of the fledgling United States Of Europe. The fact that people speaking up against this are being denounced in the terms they are should give all pause for thought. It wasn't long ago that the left were the champions of the campaign against our membership of and then the encroachment of the EU.

What happened?

Surely at a general election you should be voting for a political party and its policies not personalities?

How can you vote for someone then argue against everything he stands for the following five years?

Well, well, well, who would have thunk it?

Ed Miliband agrees that Labour "got it wrong" in the past on Immigration. But guess what?  He says his party has "listened, learned and changed" on the subject. I'm guessing of course, but I suspect "lessons will be learned" so that the party and the country can "move forward".

I now look forward to seeing Miliband being howled down by biased, specially selected BBC election audiences, and not allowed to make common sense observations, a la Farage.

I also imagine that any number of people on this Forum will want to slaughter Miliband for this so-called "evil" attitude to immigration, otherwise that makes them total hypocrites.

Surely calling for an end to open door immigration and adopting a points system similar to the Aussies is common sense.
When Canada and Australia operated a £10 assisted passage scheme in the 60s (I had relatives emigrate then) nobody blinked an eye.

Still, it must be quite embarrassing to be exposed for what are yet again given what you claim to be.

How embarrasing for you.

What am I, and what have I claimed to be, having been here for well over a decade.

Nobody has ever accused me of lying, except trolls.

I post the truth (apart from joke threads) which is why trolls and luvvies don't like me.

I make cryoftruth look stupid (it's not hard) he doesn't like it, even more so since I told him I'm jewish about 2 months ago.

Last week I put all his anti-semitic threads to the top of the politics forum, becasue he said he isn't racist. which he has since totally ignored.

Mind you, he also said that he was a university Don recently.

The complete nutjobs northernlad and Menelaus lost out with their constant lies, insinuations, and disgusting insults aimed at members of forumites families, just because they couldn't get a reaction they could report and get somebody banned (which is all the trolls wanted) they went too far.

They are gone.

Ask EeternalOptimist, he knows.

Yoi should be careful you don't get drunk one night and overstep the mark in your feeble efforts to wind me up and get me to post insults you can report.

TSO won't last much longer, wishing a mans non-English wife to be stabbed and contract AIDS.

TSO is the same moron who slated Jeremy Clarkson for being racist.

I've seen it all before.

Perhaps you should visit the McCann threads, and withdraw all your 'fascist' remarks, as they uncannily agree with all mine.

After all, you don't want to be labelled as one of the gang of 'usual suspects',do you?

Over a decade of right-wing ranting and rabble-rousing?

You deserve a long service medal.

What exactly have you achieved in all this time?

I've come to the conclusion that this section of the forum is a complete an utter waste of time.  All that occurs is circular arguments and disputes with anonymous individuals with multiple usernames.

Milliband became increasingly isolated in the tv debate. I'm not sure even he knows what he believes in.

The one dimensional nature of UKIP is often an accusation made by those who think Nicola 'I want to leave the UK' Sturgeon is Wonder Woman. Truly staggering.

U K I P. Kind of a hint there. Nige wants out of the political tie up with Europe giving us, shock horror, self governance and control of our borders.

Controlling immigration (too late..thanks Ed..) is essential to the price of housing, school places, transport, wages, jobs, health etc etc etc...

The denial of the lefties on thursday night was illogical and a bit scary. The same denial that's led to Rotherham...immigrants can do NO wrong...

No Crips. That isn't our parliamentary system at all. Each constituency sends an MP to parliament to act on its behalf. We vote for the person we feel best able to represent our and the constituencies interests in parliament. Over time we have had a greater and greater accretion of power to the centre so that we have individuals saying with a straight face, "if you vote to put me into Downing Street". They have no understanding whatsoever of how our parliamentary democracy works at all.

UKIP’s rise is due to our established politicians being failures, having neither the intellect nor the expertise to see that which is wrong with the way in which we are governed. They are led by bureaucrats, having neither management nor leadership skills to resolve any issues that do come to light and are totally inept at motivation. Apart from that they believe it is they who are doing us the favour by being elected.

That isn't our parliamentary system at all.

Eo, it certainly isn't your interpretation of it.

Ask anybody who they're voting for at a general election and they'll name the leader of a party in most cases. Regardless of who the party candidate might be.
Most voters don't even know the name of their candidate let alone anything about them unless they're happen to be a high profile MP.

Each constituency sends an MP to parliament to act on its behalf.

Then when it comes to a vote, in most cases they vote with their party regardless. Well they do if they want to get on.

To address the original point, Farage appeals to scapegoaters.

The contradiction that right-wingers have to address is that house-prices are buoyed by immigration. No rising house-prices, no Tory government.

Yes Crips that is how it has come to work but I reject this in principe even if in practice I am losing the argument. Despite the party machines grasping it by the neck parliament doesn't have to be and shouldn't be like this. We have allowed it to be thus.
