Just in case we need a Devil's Advocate here...Where was the pilot when he was captured? Why was he there? Have any of you noticed the horrendous injuries which are sustained by anybody caught up in a bombing/strafing run?
Is the pilot totally innocent? For example: Did he fly a large, emergency relief/medical supply aircraft Or a 'plane equipped to wreak death and destruction to anybody in it's path? Would he normally then return to base and joyfully relate the details of his sortie to all of his like-minded peers?

He got an idea of what it feels like to be one of those ants that he laughed at, as they scuttled to find shelter from weaponry that he launched which was designed with sole purpose of dealing out death and pain.
I wonder if he reflected upon that.

Do you look back in history and feel sorry for the soldiers of the SS being killed?

Wesdaq. If this pilot (or others like him) has never caused death or injury to a civilian...I shall apologise most profusely. As I have stated, it IS possible that he flew only humanitarian flights.

I do not defend ISIS...but I DO point out that 'downed' pilots must expect particularly harsh treatment when their ground-based victims capture them alive.

And please stop calling me an apologist. It is quite irritating.

Truth hurts I guess.

I suppose IS do have some sympathisers nevertheless.

To be fair bloke has a point the world should just keep flying aid in, of course this aid would never fall into the hands of Isis.
Damm those pilots clearly killing those evil civilians was top of their agenda than killing those charming members of ISIS. You know the ones who chuck homosexuals off buildings

Naydam my only though is that you went to this place

You put up more than a Devils Advocate argument naydam. You followed up by defending it.
To try to justify the barbaric way the pilot was killed beggars belief.

So you think IS were justified in killing the pilot like that?
Irrespective of what's happened prior to this only sub-humans could 'execute' anyone in this fashion.
Savages who need to be exterminated for the good of mankind.

OK. Just for clarification: The expression Devil's Advocate indicates a person who will attempt to put forward the opposing point of view, in order that points can be tested or debated. This is not supposed to actually BE that person's point of view!!!

Bomber pilots have ALWAYS been hated by those that they bomb and, if captured, can expect short shrift at the hands of their defenceless victims. This is because they sow death and destruction with impunity and then fly home again.

Normal infantry POWs might be treated with respect but bomber crew are hated, very similar to flame-thrower operators.

Anyway, I give up. Just keep agreeing with each other and don't bother thinking about 'why' or anything like that. I'm tired. Cry

naydam there is no why?
I can understand them executing him, not saying I agree with that though, but I can understand it.
But to kill him in that manner is beyond words.

the killing of the pilot in this way is abhorrent, these guys are desperate for publicity and the novelty factor of beheadings has started to wane.

It is brutal and barbaric but as naydam said the pilots are dropping bombs on the IS and if captured are set to meat a grissly end.

akabula the pilots kill people everyday in an almost identical way

Mighty Whites. Don't suggest that you might understand why they used such a barbaric method. Next thing is that you will be accused of supporting them, being a sympathiser and an ISIS apologist.
If you look closely, they are all wearing blinkers.  Sad

It seems to me that the one man who could control all this stone age tribal barbarity was Saddam Hussein

Just to point out something here naydam. Understanding why they did that to him is one thing but wording it in such a way that it looks like you're saying it served him right is quite another.

And this

He got an idea of what it feels like to be one of those ants that he laughed at, as they scuttled to find shelter from weaponry that he launched which was designed with sole purpose of dealing out death and pain.
I wonder if he reflected upon that.

very much comes across that you're saying it served him right.

It doesn't require any thinking about. It is a very old, tried and tested method of killing. Popular in many different countries at various times in history. It is simple, cheap and effective. What's not to like about it?

Marce. I am suggesting that, in his last minutes, he probably formed a realisation of WHY he was being treated in such a manner.
Perhaps they even showed him the results of some of his handiwork. I( really don't know.

I'm sure he understood that loud and clear naydam.

But again asking the question of whether he was innocent along with the stuff I highlighted above looks very much like you think it was his own fault. So is that the case?

Oh I see it now Jordanian pilots were sent there to bomb civilians and not ISIS. Of course sorry
