Accepting they only had 3-4 hrs to do it that night means you are accepting their timeline , if they did it they will obviously supply a timeline that seemingly makes it inconceivable . As Taxi and others said , only their word (and their dubious friends , who contradicted themselves many times ) that Madeleine was still in the apartment when they went to the restaraunt .

what are you talking about, I've already posted the link to the time sheet on the day she went missing that stats 5:30pm was when she was picked up, it's not up for debate, that's the crèches official records. So they would only of had  3 or so hours after she apparently died in the apartment to have hid her body, miraculously without ever being found, in an area they barely knew.

Which is where the 'Tapas 5' should enter the fray.

Only one has given any statements, and they have changed a few times.

The description of the 'mystery man carrying the child' she saw has moved from between 5-7 and 5-10 in height, from light skinned to meditteranean with a swarthy complexion, and from a small child in a blanket to a police drawing of her description some time later, a child with the exact same clothing on and the same slippers that Madeleine was supposedly wearing.

How would a member of the Tapas 5 know what the child was wearing in bed?

She gave the time and the sighting as one place in the road, walking in one direction.

This should coincide with Mr McCanns statement that he was speaking to another man in the same road, for 15 minutes. They should have seen each other, or McCann and the man should have seen the 'mystery man' carrying the child.

When the man who McCann was speaking to was interviewed, he said the most they spoke for was 3 minutes, and that they were on the other side of the road.

He said he never saw a man carrying a child.

In a later statement the Tapas 5 woman changed her mind about the direction the 'mystery man' was walking in.

Speaking personally, if one of my kids went missing, I wouldn't be having a chinwag for '15 minutes' in the street.

Apparently, none of the Tapas 5 helped in the search either, they went off to bed.

Perhaps they knew something we don't.

every action of the maccaans and their friends in the 24 hrs after her disapearence suggests they knew she wasnt coming home and wasnt going to be found,in reality she could have been in the payground, walking down the street anyone of a 100 places, they all went to bed, booked tennis lessons, contacted sky, prime ministers, printed posters etc, unfathomable

I rather think that ALL members of the group will have given statements in Portugal. I would be very surprised if they weren't all questioned again by the British police. It just seems logical.

Well, if that's the case...why did they rush? They could have turned up two weeks later. Or didn't the 'someone who knew' tell them that?

I would contact the media too, in america that have Amber alert as soon as a child goes missing, contacting media outlets would have been logical thinking, more people aware the better. I don't know why the fixation on it.

There is still no plausible explanation as to why they would ever hide her if she died anyway. Unless you think they are all perverts. The job they did do in hiding her if so, is a pretty amazingly successful one. Never has one missing child received so much attention, money and resources in finding her. What's more amazing is the short time span in which they had to do so.

The Portugese police are desperate to pin the blame on them, it damaged the the image of the country, tourism, and their reputation for having such a high profile unsolved crime. They didn't even close of the crime scene in the beginning and had people traipsing in and out at will.

One question I would like to know is from Gerry McCann, why was he laughing and joking away six days later on cameraConfused

Somebody said on there the default position is that any parent in this situation are innocent until proven guilty. However, due to the statistically high percentage of cases where a family member is guilty of something when crimes against children are involved the default position changes to family and parents needing to thoroughly investigated in order to be ruled out.

There is not one single piece of evidence in this case which points to an abduction or anyone else being in the apartment.

There is lots of things however which are consistent with the possibility a family member knows more than they have said.

Not making any insinuations regarding this case but there are reasons why an accidental death might need to be covered up if the examination of a body might lead to the discovery of crimes with more intent having being committed.
By:
naydam
When: 09 Oct 14 12:58
Well, the 'covering up' seems to have been quite successful so far. I still think the parents 'might' have been questioned about this...possibly in great depth. All to no avail.
To be so successful would probably require weeks of planning and everybody remaining stalwart in spite of heavy pressure.

On the other hand...maybe they are telling the truth. Has that ever crossed your mind?

If the Portugese police were allowed to conduct their investigations without interference from the UK then this case may have concluded years ago.
By:

When: 09 Oct 14 13:18
I don't believe there would be a whole group of people involved if there was a cover up.

I am sure the police have interviewed the parents at great depth. However, there are some things which can never be asked now and the failure of the parents to allow such things as blood tests on the other two children is one of those things.
By:
naydam
When: 09 Oct 14 13:23
They can still ask.
By:

When: 09 Oct 14 13:33
Lets assume there was an abduction, with no other evidence I would have thought all parents would insist on their other children being blood tested if there was a chance it could provide some evidence to drugs and which type of drugs ( which might be traceable )could have been used. The McCanns refused this.

The Portugese police are desperate to pin the blame on them,

People keep accepting this McCann line but actually the police took a long time to focus on the parents as suspects .

Thye followed up every 'abductor' lead and they all led nowhere . They questioned the parents and their friends as witnesses for months but what they were saying never added up, they tried to rule them out as suspects but this was never possible due to all the inexplicable things they had said and done .

Cheap shot Dstyle.

Tober. Do you have any theories as to where and how they could have hid a dead body in the pace of 3 hours without it ever being discovered, it beats me.

The British police, who I'd say are a better organised force than the Portuguese police, took long enough to find the body of Alice Gross recently.

I'd day that after they searched one area of the river and moved on, the body was the moved to that area, and not discovered until the police decided to start again from scratch.

The same could have happened to Madeleine in Portugal.

The McCanns were also told not to hand out photos (*which they were inexplicably doing not long after she went 'missing') as the child's eye defect is easily identifiable, and this could put her in danger of being killed by her 'abductors'.

* The photos they gave out were not of the girl as she was, they were older, making the eye defect much more noticeable.

Nobody appears to know where these photo copies were made as the Mark Warner rep said 'We don't have that type of equipment in our office.'

As all offices I know have photo copiers, I would assume that they were colour photos, and that was what he meant - 'they only had a black and white printer.'

Nonetheless, the McCanns handed the photos out, after she told a reporter they came from the 'Site office.'

Why ignore a police instruction? If they were that concerned, why didn't she answer any of the 48 questions that were put to her.

As there appears to have been no equipment in the 'Site office' where McCann said she got the photos from, where did they come from at close to midnight?

She must have had a stack of them in her bag.

Why would she have them at any time of day, in her apartment or otherwise?

When asked why they never employed the services of a child minder, McCann said ' Madeleine doesn't like strangers.'

Which is a surprising answer. Because the staff in the creche where she was left at least twice, for over two hours on both occasions, on the day she went 'missing', are the same staff who do the child minding, so they're obviously not strangers.

Was she awake when she she was 'abducted'? If so, why didn't she scream the place down?

Was she asleep when she was 'abducted'?  If all the kids were asleep, why not grab a smaller one. Easier to wrap up in a blanket and walk away, surely.

Yep. And looking at the conclusions that you manage to draw from any response they made...Do you really find it hard to understand why they might want to remain silent? Especially if that as what they were advised to do.

If your child was abducted in the circumstances of this case ( where the abduction literally happened a few minutes before ) would the instincts of the parents not be to immediately search the immediate area outside the apartment.

On the other hand if there was no abduction might it explain why a parent might want to stay in the apartment the whole time the police were there to find out whether their story was believed and also to compromise evidence by such things as sitting on the bed of the missing child.
By:
paddletoe
When: 10 Oct 14 15:08
I am not saying they are guilty but might a parent who was responsible for the death of their child not be more inclined to stay in the apartment and have some control over the crime scene rather than immediately searching all around the area outside where the abductor might still be around.

Any normal parent who had 3 kids wouldn't abandon the other two and run straight back to the bar without checking other rooms and announce that 'She's gone'.
By:

There is one explaination why you would leave two children alone despite the fact that an abductor could still be in the premises.

"There is lots of things however which are consistent with the possibility a family member knows more than they have said."

Completely agree with that.

and to abandon the other 2 kids and go straight back to the bar again, surely in that situation the safety of the other 2 would be a massive concern, if she had been taken and the other 2 went missing as well afterwards..... several things don't add up and sure they know more than they have said.

That reaction was unreal. I can never get my head round it. You would never leave the two other kids on their own in that circumstance. Bizarre!
By:

When: 10 Oct 14 17:32
^ that reaction certainly was unreal !  IF Madeleine had been abducted, why did she leave the twins alone to go back to the bar and raise the alarm?  The supposed abductor could still have been around.

And apparently she did not ask the twins, at that moment, what had happened to their sister. Surely most people would have done that, but to leave them alone again.... certainly was unreal !
